Let us see, where to begin? Schizo is correct, where it would probably be
better to have the forums set up as the articles are, where you can just
respond to a particular comment.
Now, as far as shade went with the third eyed Martian comment,
certainly, I do have my off-topic moments, and yet, I do try to stay on
topic. I’ll admit freely that I perhaps should have been a bit more
tentative to the current topic on discussion, while the forum flew in a
spiral of what we want, what they want where we want to go what we want to
be and what pisses us off the most.
Given, that now I have a moment to look back upon my post, I probably
should have retracted it, however, I will not retract something that I have
said. If I did, it would not be for your benefit, it would be because I
decided that the sentiment towards the topic was relayed in a poor manner
that did not reflect my thoughts at that moment.
Now, I for one, liked my post and will not retract it, nor will I be
bullied. As far as the grammatical errors that you so blatantly attempt to
point out, tell me precisely what do you see?
Lets analyze this and get anal, shall we?
“the creepy guy, who can't take no for an answer, who just doesn't get that
you already have someone and keeps hounding.” (as for this sentence
should be capitalized, however it has a topic, it has a subject it is a
complete sentence, perhaps a bit of a run-on. However, because it is in
list format and refers to a previous post, however far up the line it was,
it is a complete sentence. I also know that I just reiterated the complete
sentence thing so I’ll do it again…. Complete sentence!)
The fellow in a larp who just won't leave you alone, who is at your heels
for the entire 4 day long convention. (This sentence is referring to the
previous sentence therefore, who the person is does not need to be
re-stated)
that perverse person who thinks that the game is life and their character
will seduce your true life persona and then, when you finally get sick of
it and say.. HEY DUDE!,,, is out of character man, just be calm and stop
panting, pick your jaw off the concrete. I don't want anything to do with
you in or out of character now, you creep!... They still think that they
are a "vampire" and can make you change your mind... ( o.k. there are a
couple of errors here I will admit however, they are no worse than any
others I have seen on this site. should be capitalized and the sentences should be in quotations)
AHHHHH... I swear to fucking whatever the fuck. I am incredibly sick of
being hounded at cons when all I want is to have a stress free weekend to
sell art, kick back play a couple of games and have fun! (no comment)

THOUGH, I see nothing about what this has to do with shmeng... shemng is
not about conventioneering...
My them is those that come here ort anywhere and feel taht tehy can make
the community more than i t is by changing the focus... by dictating morals
and by stating that what we believe is inherently wrong... I am sick of
those people that want me to be nicer because it will make them feel good
about themselves... those people that do not know themselves and therefore
cannot accept the fact that I DO know myself...

Actually, BlueLinn, technically, they are sentence fragments. A sentence
by definition must have a subject and a verb. Example, "I exist."
Subject, I. Verb, exist. Complete sentence.
However, I often use sentence fragments, and it's OK. While not
technically grammatically correct, they are often appropriate in casual
conversation. They add rhythm and emphasis.
In fact, I used three sentence fragments in this post so far.
It's not whether a sentence is complete or not, it's how it's used. If
your post is easily understood, and relevant to the discussion, no one
cares how precise your grammar is. Although it also helps to have a good
flow to make it readable. (Note: that last sentence was actually a
fragment.) However, if your post is obscure, or off-topic in a way that
does not add value to the forum, someone may be tempted to reply "What the
hell did that mean, and why the hell did you post it?", and may also be
tempted to add "It wasn't even grammatical, anyway."
The fact is, Shade was not bashing your post for grammatical errors
(although it was full of them, but as I said, with a good post, who cares?)
He objected to the post because it was off-topic, difficult to follow, and
interrupted the flow of a relevant and thought-provoking discussion. You
complained about people who irritate you in a forum about the sorts of
people who we find alien to our ideal Shmeng community. There are other
forums that deal with your topic.
This site is valuable to many of us. We take the time and effort needed to
maintain interesting topics of conversation, and add to them in ways that
increase their value. It is painful to us to see people come and wantonly
litter the site with comments that, if not downright unpleasant, are at
least out of place, and make the forums cluttered and confusing. When this
happens, we take the time to instruct the offenders on what they have done.
If the offender really gives a damn about the site, hopefully they will
take the instruction, learn from it, and move on in a way that benefits us
all. However, if someone does not find this site important enough to care
for like the rest of us, then they better not expect us to care for them
and their feelings. Habitual litterers can and will be evicted from this
website.
So think about it. How important is this place to you? Will you take the
time and effort to add to its value? If not, then either quietly and
respectfully watch from the sidelines, or go away. After all, if Shmeng is
not important enough to you to take a little time over, then probably any
site would be good enough for you to vent your daily problems on. Maybe
you could even make your own, so you could post whatever you felt like,
regardless of the content. Just don't be surprised if we don't appreciate
you for doing it here.
