I was thinking of all the stupid things I am afraid of last night. Itīs amazing the thoughts that copious amounts of rum and cream soda can bring to mind.
I wanna know all the stupid, inane, and utterly foolish things that make your skin crawl or make you squeak like a girl. Iīll go first.

Dinosaurs:
Not in museums, not even the computer generated movie ones on the discovery channel, but ones that chase people and eat people in the movies. THIS is by far my most ridiculous one, as there is absolutely NO chance whatsoever that Iīm going to be put in a position to be chased OR eaten by a dinosaur. Jurassic park I-III gave me nightmares for WEEKS.

Clowns:
This is because my dad had no regard for movie ratings and rented me killer clowns from outer space when I was 5. Also, that serial killer that painted clowns, the clown from IT, pervert clowns, monster alien clowns...probably because theyīre so garish and overblown and surreal and are supposed to be begnin entertainers of children at birthday parties, but seldom are. They hide in sewers.

Sharks:
Iīve always been afraid of going in the ocean because of sharks, and after watching shark week on the discovery channel Iīm never going in the fucking ocean again. I donīt wanna hurt sharks, I just donīt wanna get eaten. And yes, jaws gave me horrid nightmares all throughout my younger years and even today.

The Dark:
With a capitol D. Yes, Iīm afraid of the dark. Especially the dark in the woods when Iīm in my parents house and they have big fat windows that let me see every nook and cranny of the big scary woods. Iīm afraid of the dark in my closet (ALWAYS closed at nighttime sometimes with shoes piled up in front to trip any marauding monsters), under my bed (I leap), and especially the bathroom (monsters are fond of toilets).

Potato bugs:
īCause theyīre like little creepy armadillos and an awful shade of gray. Nothing should have translucent legs.

Death:
Not so much the actual being dead part, īcause it can go only one of two ways really, something or nothing, and if thereīs something then Iīll obviously have something to keep myself occupied, and if thereīs nothing then I wonīt know so who cares.
Itīs the method of getting there that creeps me out.

Basicly Iīm scared of just about everything, I just donīt let it get to me. Iīll be the first one to jump off the cliff, charge into the fight, or poke the strange lumpy thing with a stick.

When I was little though, mirrors really freaked the hell out of me. Iīll blame poltergiest III for that one.

What bothers now me, is when I see a spider, and then I donīt see the spider anymore, but feel it on my back. Iīll rip my clothes off faster than you can blink. Iīm fine if itīs on my arm or even my face, but when the little bastards jump down my back...

Iīll so back you up on that stupid Killer Klown movie. I saw that twice, once when I was in the 3rd grade, and again a few years down the line. Both times I had nightmares for weks about freaky clowns invading my house, staring at me with those freaky grins, lunging out of nowhere and grabbing me when I would try to run outside. *shudder*
Oh, and zombies. Luckily someone has been almost constantly drilling since highschool on what to do when the zombies attack. You know, where to go, what to take, what weapons will be acceptable should I feel the need to go "Resident Evil."
There is a bunch of other stuff, all as ridiculous as these, but I have a meeting, and Iīm late for it already.

I can live with clowns, I thrive and see better in the dark...

One thing that scares is summed up in two words...

Going Bald.

My hair isnīt thinning, itīs full, my grandfather, brother, uncles etc arenīt bald but my father is.... If my hair DOES fall out (and i canīt save it by pumping myself full of drugs) then Iīll shave my head bald. I donīt care, itīs all or nothing.

I have to agree with bettie on the death thing. Im scared of dying. i enjoy being alive far to much. And the thought of suddenly stopping tweaks me out.

and this sounds cheesy as hell, But i also fear being alone..

Yeah, Iīve made that decision too, if I lose my hair too. All or nothinī. No half-ass wimpy combover or some expensive rug...

Iīm afraid of the dark, too. But it really isnīt the dark. Its what may be -lurking- in the dark. Criminals, supernatural things... You know the drill.

I donīt see why so many people find clowns frightening. Sure, theyīre annoying, but Iīve never been afraid. Of course, I havenīt had many experiences with clowns. A couple times at the circus, and then the obligatory fool at the school fair... *shrugs*

ZACTLY. Itīs whats IN the dark...and a bit for me itīs the dark itīself. If I could live in perpetual evening/twilight Iīd be ECSTATIC.
Not all bright and hot and crappy, but that nice warm/cool thing that happens on summer evenings.
Clowns are a strange phobia, but itīs really very common. Probably because they are disguised, their appearance is really quite frightening...big red foof but bald in the middle, large painted on exaggerated grins suggesting deceptive intentions...*shudder*
Plus I snuck in while my older sisters were watching "IT".

Michaelīs afraid of rotten food. I think his mom did something to him when he was little regarding rotten food. Heīs always eyeballing what Iīm using when Iīm making dinner asking me "how long has that been in the fridge? Are you SURE....*unbelieving look* hmph. Hope I donīt DIE."
I usually have to shoo him out threatening to make him cook his own dinner. Heīs MANIC about expiration dates...*shakes head* I dunno.

Oh and I forgot that Elvis Presley had a serious water phobia...enough so to keep him from bathing little more than once every couple weeks or month, not even SHOWERS. He smelled like GREASY ROCK STAR STINKY MAN. And fried banannas.
And David Letterman freaks if you look him in the eyes for too long.

OOOOoooo Cashmere and I loooove the dark, once we spent an hour in a film changing room (no light allowed) and we discussed porn, etc. We must not have a phobia from darkness from the fact we have had sooo many photography classes.
Oh well, my phobia is MAGGOTS. ~ ~~ <---- dirty little white fucking maggots!!! *cowers*
One time I was having fun and happily opening a chestnut, and a maggot came out and wiggled around.... All I remember is screaming like a sissy bitch on helium, and not being able to calm down for an hour. And one thing pisses me off, I canīt find the exact phobia name for "fear of maggots" or "fear of larvae".
Also, do not question my phobia, imagine being smothered in a tub with them... they crawl over your orifices....... and if you scream, you may swallow them. ops:

Heights. And whats in the dark. And spiders, but only if theyīre large enough.

Iīm not really afraid of clowns, though I was fairly young when I saw IT and sort of steered clear of the bathrrom for a while after seeing that part where blood comes out of the faucet.

And I found a magot in a hazelnut once. Donīt eat hazelnuts anymore.

And finding half a worm in half an apple.

Iīm not afraid of death just the ways that I can die. Nuclear war. That scares me.
Diseases like eboli (sp) and all those really gruesome disease.. and anything to do with breathing. I used to hypervenelate when I was really young because Iīd convince myself I couldnīt breathe. I hate panic attacks, but I can control them now.
Pedophiles. Basically I just want to kill them all, but Iīm afraid of getting abducted.
My brothers breaks going out and we crash and burn. His tires giving out (they really suck) and we crash and burn. His car.
My English teacher and the bus driver of bus #3. That guy looks like one of the kids from Village of the Damned except OLD.
Heights. I have a water phobia. I donīt like to be home alone for long periods of time (like the entire day) and I donīt like to be home alone at all when Iīm sick.
Someone breaking into the house and me not knowing about it, not having time to get to the gun cabnet or having any sort of weapon. Ooo yeah, iīll throw candles! dangerous...
Plane crashing while Iīm in it. Drowning at sea (I will probably NEVER sail).
Mirrors in the dark. That just freaks me out entirely. We have mirrors in every room and itīs just scary.
Iīm also a hypochondriac.

oh man I remember the dinosaur clown puppet...*shudders*
I ALSO couldnt eat cotton candy or drink out of twisty straws till I was 9 because of that movie....
Dark dear you would be REALLY screwed if you had a phobia of shrinks.
Comedian, I think you and my husband share the same snow deprivation syndrome. We got barely any last year and he was pissed off all winter long.

I wonder if they have a fear of phobias in there...thatīd be something.

When I was younger I used to be afraid of the deep end of the pool at the YMCA...but that was changed when I was pushed in by someone (i think its my father) and learned not to drown.
heh. It worked.
*looks down*
Oh! Alone in the Dark! Thatīs also a CLASSIC pc game. It started the whole surivial horror style of games. I had to add that.

Getting Bugs Stuck in my Ears:
i have this irrational fear when i go to bed, that i need to cover my ears with my hair and blankets to keep bugs from crawling in my ears while i sleep. and iīm scared that if a bug ever does decide to crawl in there, itīll get stuck. EEEK! :-P

Alone in the Dark:
i keep hoping the older i get, eventually i will outgrow this fear. itīs just that the things in the dark always wanna play when iīm alone.

Cornfields:
is an explanation really needed?

Mirrors:
i saw too many damn things in them as a kid, blame it on the poltergeists or oogies in our house i grew up in.

Death:
not of dying, itīs that i have this bad feeling that afterwards iīm gonna be alone in the dark with the īotherī things in the dark... and they donīt always play nice.

Mud/Sediment Underwater:
itīs not the water, itīs getting stuck on the bottom of a lakebed, riverbed, or ocean floor. too much bridge jumping as a kid. i remember once jumping off a bridge and sinking like a rock up to my thighs into the soft bottom. it freaked me out. seemed like it took me forever to reach the surface again, really thought i was going to drown.

Aliens:
too much sci-fi and horror movies

When I was just a little squidling, I was diagnosed with multiple fears. Then when I was 14 I had a case of apendictis so bad that had I gotten to the ER 5 mins later I would have died because my apendix had already ruptured. After that I I was still afraid of everything but I felt invincible (almost dieing a few more times strengthened that) and I loved the adrenaline rush so I was constantly trying to feel pain and freak myself out. After a while I got desensitized to all of it.

The thing is, I never got over my fear of heights. Especially high places over water.

Why over water? Iīd rather be a mile above water than a mile above the ground. Water is buoyant. The ground is not.

Bettie, itīs all part of the whiny bitch syndrome all guys have but secretly contend to be manliness. If we donīt get snow we donīt bitch, we just get pissy. When we do get snow, we bitch endlessly about having to shovel it and drive in it. Catch-22. Or something like that.

AAnd I donīt know if metrophobic is the correct term-- I mean, I have no real problems being in a city as long as I can see mountains or something-- just when the sprawl is endless buildings and you have to crane your neck to see the sky, and even that is a muddy brown of smog and smoke and technicolor farts.. The only fear of death I have is dying in the city. Iīd like to die far away on a mountain somewhere. Anywhere but civilization. Anywhere but the sprawl. Dying in the conrete jungle, god, thatīs fucking terrifying.
