What we have here is a place to talk about people who play and/or run
roleplaying games who shouldn´t.
I know a DM who created a character for a player in one of his games. A
yuan-ti with claws that did 1d8 damage, 1d4 poison damage for being
yuan-ti, 1d4 poison damage for something else, and 1d4 psychic damage. She
had a +12 to hit with her claws and a +6 to hit with her bow. Her response
to every single combat situation was "I shoot it with my bow". DM says the
enemy is charging at her. She says "I step back and shoot it with my bow."
The DM told her that her character was designed for melee combat. She says
ok. They get in a fight. She hits it with her bow. She says she forgot.
Eventually the DM had a god kill her. It took her a few minutes to
understand the concept that the 200 ft god had enough reach to hit her. She
created a new character. The DM said no bows. She said ok. He looked at her
character sheet and said "No crossbows either!!" And she killed a
nonhostile creature that two party members were trying to heal saying "I´m
a fighter. I fight stuff." ____________________ l33t is the bastard cousin of contractions. |

I hope that it was her first time playing...I would be very sad if it
wasn´t. ____________________ My life is a psychedelic sadomasochistic drama with a deadly twist and I

I´ve never seen a yuan-ti with a bow... Usually they´re pikish dudes...
But I´ve only played tabletop D&D once; when I was probably ten years old,
and we only got a chance to make our chars before my dad sent me to bed.

I´ve only played Starwars, Rifts and Vampire the Masquarade (i spelled that
wrong i know) But it always took me atleast an hour or so to get into my
character....but that person probably had no personality or
imagination....now have Dolo GM a Vampire game...now that is way to
fun....Its all about imagination when playing a role playing game.
I will slap it with my pen....... ____________________ "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue. I'm a schizophrenic, and so am I". |

I normally wind up playing with either Fish Malks, or Munchkins. If they
aren´t trying to stick a rubber duck up the dragons ass, then they are
argueing as to why the dragon should be worshiping their character. Only a
few of my friends are actual good role players. ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

DEAR LORD that BETTER have been her 1st time playing! ...reminds me of the
dead alewives DnD parody... you know, on Dr. Demento... "thomas edison
appears before you" "i attack him with my sword" "yeah, he says ´IDIOT! I
haven´t been born yet!´" "It´s DM maaaaaaaaaagggggiiiic!" ("It´s a joke,
sara.")
i´m suddenly thinking i should get out more... ____________________ ~ ~ QUACK! |

Oh, Dr. Demento! I remember listening to his radio show late at night...
He´s a crack if there every was one... Not that its a bad thing, ´course.
It was were I first heard the song ´fish heads´...
Fish heads fish heads rolley polley fish heads
Fish heads fish heads eat them up, yum!
(C´mon, squid, join in!)
But back to the subject, I´m trying to get a LARP going, but I´m too damn
lazy to organize anything. We go over to a guy´s house to make weapons, and
all we end up doing is playing videogames. So I guess I count as the sort
of person who shouldn´t roleplay. (A DM, at least. I love roleplaying
regularly) I guess once I get my license I won´t have to, since I´ll be
able to drive to the established LARPs.

A friend of mine tried to run a vampire game once. He set it to before
Caine had every embraced anyone, said that Lillith was the first vampire
instead of Caine, and proceeded to make everyone in the group second and
third generation. But instead of Caine (or Lillith) embracing the entire
group, when one member of the group embraced another that other member
became the first of a different clan. And apparantly Cappadocious was
really two female Cappadocians who could talk to spirits. And we came this
close to the first nosferatu being a dog. Had it been embraced rather than
ghouled... ____________________ l33t is the bastard cousin of contractions. |

Aww... too bad Nosferatu wasn´t a dog... I´m rather Gangrel myself, but
I´ve never played the Masquerade.
No, but my LARP was (supposed to be) just a medieval-fantasy type... Not a
vampire once necessarily. Its easier that way, and you don´t have to piss
off your parents by running around in the park after dark with fake teeth.
Hee hee...

I´ve been on my share of Vampire LARPs. I didn´t really find them that
facinating. But I´ve never experienced my parents getting pissed at me for
wearing fake fangs... They just think it´s amusing. ____________________ "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the

One of my d&d DMs let me create a new class for his campaigns, the
Spellweaver, and let me multiclass as a Spellweaver/Psychic warrior. The
people in the campaign havent had any exposure to psionic characters that I
know of, and I know they wouldn´t know anything about a spellweaver. And
I´m a member of a race the DM created.
A friend of mine brags about how he excells at keeping out of game
information he knows out of game and how because of it another DM tells him
all sorts of things he shouldn´t know. Because of it I think he expects
information more or less on demand, and he´s been getting all bitchy that I
won´t tell him stuff he shouldn´t know. I was captive when they found me
with most of my shit in a nearby chest and he took all the healing salves
out and kept them for himself because I wouldn´t tell him out of game what
I was, and he was talking about attacking my character on sight because I
wouldn´t say anything about it. ____________________ l33t is the bastard cousin of contractions. |

Thats not roleplaying. Tell the DM. Next time, If he refuses to do
something because you won´t tell you secrets, and this something would have
been an obvious thing for his character to do, he should be able to come up
with a _very_ good reason why his character shouldn´t. If he does´t, this
will of course affect his character. His alignment could be altered, if
he´s a priest, maybe his god will only help the goodhearted, his luck could
start turning against him etc. Make him feel the consequences of his
choices. ____________________ "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the

And the brother of the guy who wanted to kill me over my character secrets
is running a game i never joined because i KNEW he would be a horrible DM.
He doesnt know how any of the rules work, he plays clerics of pelor in
other campaigns ive been in with him and he didn´t know that there was a
limit on the modifier to his cure spells from his level. A friend of mine
(the DM of the campaign with my spellweaver) told me that this guy had to
take him aside and ask him how critical hits work and how to generate
treasure. And its been theorized that this guy doesnt know many rules and
instead of just looking stuff up he resolves rules questions with a
percentile roll. ____________________ l33t is the bastard cousin of contractions. |

world!!!*runs out*
I know they´re not roleplaying games, but still... its the same fun
stuff...
But yeah... someone needs to get your friend a D&D book... and not one of
the fiction books... A rulebook. ____________________ Piggy's got the Conch! |

My annoyance with Abbadon for posting such strings has passed, and given
way to mild amusement. He contributes in his own little way...
And Alugarde, you may -think- you´re hot stuff, but are you -EXTREME-?
