I dunnoī if I truly am inherently Violent, but I think I am...and I know
Iīm sick in the head as it is. But I know, everyone has the capacity for
it...it just takes a certain catalyst to turn it loose...everyone has
theirs, some have only one, some (like me regretably) have a couple. Pride,
Loyalty, Rage, sadness, regret, indecisiveness, all that...
A long time ago, I worried that my predilictions for violence might get
someone I cared about deeply. I defined a set of rules and orders to kind
of curb my violent tendencies. Me of all people making rules, but so far,
in a certain sense...theyīve worked. Iīve struck out, and on a couple
occasions, struck down someone marvelously (and had my ass kicked a couple
times too) But to date, Iīve never lost it on anyone I didnīt mean to lose
it on. *shrug* I know that prolly doesnīt make much sense, but I think what
I was getting at...is you CAN control it.
I donīt think Violence is in EVERY action we undertake...but it can be a
subtle influence (or not so subtle) on quite a few...

I know that we do not like to think that we are inherently violent. This
is because we are taught to live without violence or so we think. Sports
words writing and our music now takes the place of alot of the violence. I
would like to think of a part of black hawk down There was a part when a
Army Pilot was being interagated by a Somlie soldier. The Somilie soldier
ask him why do they come to fight another persons war, and spreed demoacry?
He tells him that they are not there to do that. The Soldier then
continues to tell him that the reason they fight is because that is all we
know. If we knew nothing of violence then would it still be there in the
world?

If we knew nothing of peace there wouldnīt be any...if we were "educated"
in violence, it would exist anyway. As children, for self preservation, we
are selfish. We have to be TAUGHT to share, taught NOT to hit, taught NOT
to yell, taught NOT to steal. Just because you posess a quality, good or
bad, most people (mentally healthy) have a will to tame it, to either
abstain from it completely or use it sparingly (after "morally" considering
all proīs and conīs). Unhealthy people just act on it, good or bad. The
person that gives and gives and gives until they have nothing left,
including their life, and allows others to trample them, the person that
takes and takes and takes and is violent. Both unbalanced dangerously.
Itīs like the old quote of the power struggle...true power is having it and
not using it. We have the power to be violent, but the true good people of
the world will not use it, or only when there is no other way. I CAN reach
across and bitchslap someone who says or does something I donīt like. I
CHOOSE not to.
Humanity will never reach an idealized utopia, free of violence, poverty,
hunger, despair. Never...tho we think of ourselves as above nature, we are
still a part of it, only weīve removed ourselves OUTSIDE nature...but the
umbilical remains and always will. Nature abhors perfection, straight
lines, and calm. As a part of nature, we will obey.
Our universe was created by violence...our heavens and earth were formed by
violence...the first molecules of life were the aftermath of
violence...grand species rose and fell...one adapted to the violence of
itīs environment...and itīs empires and people rose and fell, other
civilizations sprung up in the destruction, each greater than before.
Without violence there would be no change, without change there would be
stagnation, and with stagnation we are all dead.

One thing that i am trying to get at is that our society thrives on
violence. When two guys get in a fight we watch and cheer. Violence is
sensational. Socity eats it up. Its in our sports, Movies, TV, and Music.

Do not allow yourself to be pacifist... For if you sit and let the waves
wash over you, IamSquid will come and eat you. At the very least, youīll
get sand in your ears...
But if you swim accross the current (not blind violence. Violence in the
right direction), you make it to safety, and get a good workout as well.
And you get to wear a speedo...

No, my sweet pair of steeltoes, Iīm afraid Iīm a new squid. I no longer
want to eat people, terrorize cruise liners, or make little kids at
Seaworld cry. I want to love and laugh and love again. Lovinī yoo,
brother.

People cheer around a fight because in the human psyche violence is
EXCITING...it raises adrenaline levels in those who see it, if there is
blood involved, the color will heighten the release of endorphines. I
think that people watch a fight the same way that people slow to watch
traffic fatalities, train wrecks etc. The sight of death in this steirle,
child proofed, wonderworld we live in triggers a reminder in our primitive
makeup that counters our false faith in indestructability...that our
mortality is real, fragile, and threatened every day. Reminds us that we
are human, flesh and blood. Traffic stop lights and stop signs and warning
signs are red...the color of blood, because nothing gets a humanīs
attention than the color of their own life. Scientifically proven,
friends. You will often find that our environment is FORMED around our
biology....colors, shapes, etc.
Violence is just another part of ourselves that we have to learn to deal
with...and have the greatest difficulty with because we CANīT eradicate it,
counsel it away, drink it away, or simply pave over it.

Violence is something all humans need. Without it, there would be no
balance to life. If, in some way, one person could outlaw violence in all
forms that can be bought or sold, well, chaos would be the eventual result.
Industries thrive off of violence. Games, news, books, music, even
congressmen do. They use it as a battle cry, a scapegoat for promotion of
their political life saying we must remove all violent activity from
entertainment to "save the impressionable youth from toxic materials."
We need violence to release, to enjoy and balance our primal urges. Humans
are a savage race, no matter how sophisticated youīd wish to think we are,
we are animals but just alittle more advanced than the chimp. Were
territorial, we eat, sleep, mate, kill just like any other animal. Humans
can reason better than animals, think freer, were able to use technology
and expand in ways animals cannot. Our minds emotionally need a greater
amount of care than animals do. From this, we need to balance out things in
life. Violence, if too much at once for a long period of time can infact
turn us into violent people if we cannot handle it. However, violence can
also cause us to become calm, released, cool. Violent games, mosh pits,
fighting, this and many other activities are a release back into a primal
stage which we cannot attain in modern times. We need release.
Without violence, society as a whole becomes more violent. Petty gang
fights, abusive parents, body problems, they are some reasons for violence
but blaming our violent entertainment and those things for our aggressive
population is nothing more than facing away from the true problems in life.
Alright...I got dibs on this one, the name of my first girl-child is going
to be Violence...
As weird as it is, I think thatīd be a gorgeous name for a girl...dibs
dibs dibs!!

I agree that we need violence as a outlet from life. weather it be joing a
boxing club or just going out and beating the shit out of something. I
have the urge quite frequently. So i go to my punching bag and beat the
shit out of it i have gone through 3 in my life

Also, you gotta remember violence is tasty, addictive and easy to swallow
until youīve know whatīs been done.
While i was working out side just now i saw a crow steal some eggs out of a
nest. Then shortly later i watched several birds go after this crow. And
i relized some thing that Only in humans is there sensless violence. The
cow stole the eggs because it was hungry. And the birds attacked the crow
to perserve the rest of the eggs. But humans will attack others for the
heck of it. :-o

Not just humans...primates to some level, but not just humans.
Chimpanzees, Macaques, and those closely related to chimps are extrememly
agressive and quick to temper. "killer" whales also kill for fun.

Itīs easy to say Humanīs kill eachother for things like difference of
appearance, or religion...and then pigeon hole them as silly...
People donīt kill eachother for reasons they believe are "silly" only the
truly deranged take killing lightly...no matter how stupid those reasons
might seem to us...to those people, at those times, those reasons have
merit...and maybe not in the way thatīs readily apparent.
I do not condone racist murdering, or religious jyhads...but to those
people who commit them, they are real and powerful forces in their
existance...
Try and look from the eyes of the fiends, itīs frightening to realize how
very similiar they are to all of us...

Fair nuff, as retarded as some of the reasons people kill each other for,
chips will kill another chimp for NO reason...they beat each other up all
the time, sometimes kill each other. They are frighteningly like humans in
their temper.
Have you ever watched a pack of macaques mug people? You wanna watch
senseless violence, they run in packs in crowded cities, and if anyone bugs
them the whole PACK jumps on the unlucky unwitting antagonist.
Then they take your camera īcause itīs shiny.
