My sister has moved back in and when that happens, she will constantly try
to control the tv. When I come home, when I leave, when I play a PC game,
MTV is always tuned on.
Now is the time of the VMAs.
Thats right, 24 hours of the same freaking advertisements, hype, worthless
artists in their 15 seconds of fame and one hit wonders.
Now I ask you, what is your view of this side-show spectacle?
*if you havenīt seen already, i have grown sick of this vma bullshit since
the day the hype train started* ____________________ but at least you know, just how much pain there is in living |

Well oiuja boards were huge when they came out around the turn of the 20th
century...so itīs nothing new to the world. I found a rad "talking board"
website (their original name...talking boards that is) that had boards that
were exact replicas of the very first patented board, to movie monster or
serial killer themed, to pagan themed and satanically themed.
Those cell phones werenīt rad...they were BEASTS! THOSE gave people
cancer, what with that big electromagnetic reciever pole that passed as an
antenna....
My mom didnīt go through our stuff either. SHe didnīt have to. She just
KNEW.
Either that or the demonic flunkie under my bed that passed for a boogieman
was squealing on me.
I think they were in cahoots.

If I had to pick an age Iīd want to be 7. I got away with tipping a kids
desk over on him, I got away with everything. Now Iīm trying to keep out
of detention.
My mom always knows too so I just donīt hide things from her anymore.
Sheīs not one of those mothers who have to know absolutely everything about
their kids, thankfully, she doesnīt go through my room or anything.
Iīve only seen those old cell phones in movies, never in real life. It
comes with being born later and missing all the good stuff. I hate the
newer cell phones. The signals are always cutting off and I just want to
crush them.
You know if you listen closely to popeye he uses profanity. I admit that
I like spongebob and invader zim. I like zim better though-let us reign
doom down upon all your enemies! Or his little robot guy-thinggy..Gir.
Ok, the cartoons are so stupid that theyīre funny but those are the only
two newer ones that Iīll watch. Iīm a cartoon fanatic.
I remember when I was really young and the ouija was considered a game
and it was just huge. Everyone had one, maybe it was just huge in my town
though. Who knows? Those people always looked posessed. I just could
never imagine letting a little kid play with something like that, but
thatīs me. ____________________ "Pity no one was there

I donīt know how she did it, but my mom just KNEW.
Sometimes I feel old, sometimes I feel really really young. My look also
alternates day to day. Some days I look late twenties, others I look
fifteen.
I was eyeballing my wedding pictures the other day and I realised that in
every picture, I look 12! I think itīs the bangs...
I loved that rabbit board game...mr. wiggly I think it was called.
He he...I caught an episode of that horrid "that 80īs show" and saw this
one guy with an ancient cell phone...you know, the big white ones with the
half inch thick antenna that were twice the size of a normal phone
reciever? I remember when my dad got one of those...we also had one in the
truck, it was on a 5lb battery pack, had a cord, and plugged into the
cigarette lighter with a big fat springy power cable. *snicker* I thought
that was the raddest thing....
*sigh*
If I had to pick, Iīd be 5 again. You think you know all you need to ever
know, but arenīt aware you donīt know enough. You are SOOO independent but
mom is always a few steps behind to let you pretend and to dust you off
when you fall on your face.
Saturday cartoons, even repeats, were ALWAYS hillarious.
Eating mud.
those were the days. ____________________ Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. |

By the way, youīre only as old as you feel. Iīm young and when I see kids
my age or even older I wonder if their parents know where they are or what
theyīre doing. I think this is due to being born with such an inquisitive
mother. Atleast I knwo she cares. ;-) ____________________ "Pity no one was there

Iīm not very happy with all the new toys that are coming out today. I
donīt care for nintendo games or any of that; Iīd rather read. My aunt
saved all her childhood toys and promised me that when I had kids I could
let them play with the "antiques." Notice how the old stuff is coming back
though. Carebears, Strawberry Shortcake. Whatīs wrong with board games?
You canīt seriously tell me that you donīt like candyland. Iīm still in
love with cartoons..the classics. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Betty Boop,
Popeye. In the movie business, I swear they canīt come out with anything
thatīs actually scary anymore. Movies like Scream and 13 ghosts didnīt
phase me at all. I feel lazy when there are machines that do things for
me. Like I really want to sit on my ass because itīs more convenient. Iīd
rather carry big baskets of fruit on my head for miles than drive.
But..thatīs me. I was probably born in some other life time where I worked
like a horse. Iīm not saying that everything should go and we should have
to cut grass with scissors, Iīm just saying that maybe it would be better
if we didnīt have so many new appliances to do work for us. And in
the music industry..geezus. Itīs a little obvious that most of the newer
stuff coming out is altered so it doesnīt sound like it sucks. Then you
see/hear it live and they canīt sing. Everything sounds the same these
days. The classics are so much better. ____________________ "Pity no one was there

Devil bunny YOU WIN. Still younger but tho I remember the U.S.S.R in my
history books as old as 7th grade and pieces of the berlin wall being sold
at christmas time in the bon marche, YOU LIVED IN IT.
I watched the wall fall on television. I was old enough to understand
it.
But I didnīt live it.
I had pong (with the big platform with switches and a lever *oh god*) and
THEN we got an ATARI which was BIG SHIT man.
I had a gulf war bumper sticker on my clarinette case in 7th grade music
class.
I am mixed about the toy releases, sort of ruins it for me, but they toy
companies are being destroyed by game systems so theyīre doing it so all
the mouldy oldies will get all bleary and nostalgic and make them all rich
again on memories. I still have all my old toys at my moms and theyīre in
good condition, so itīs no biggie to me.
We got a rainbow bright shirt at work and sheīs wearing a fucking VISOR and
RAVE pants and has BEADS and GLOWSTICKS AND WHITE GLOVES and is sucking on
a SUCKER and it makes me MAD.
Rainbow bright is NOT a fucking raver.
She DIDN"T have big wide pants with rainbow stripes, she had a little puffy
dress and MOON BOOTS and a PONY TAIL not a goddamned visor.
I love seeing some 13 year old all like "YEAH, I LOVED rainbow bright when
I was a kid!"
Um, pardon me YOU WEREN"T EVEN FUCKING BORN WHEN IT WENT OFF THE AIR!!
STOP trying to take my MEMORIES AWAY!!!

Very good. A bit of respect to the older is a sign of strong
character....
But, boy... have I got stories to tell about wot I remember from my
childhood. Back in the early eightys we still had a bit of communism in
this part of Europe, so it was quite different the the US.
I recall being happy if I got extra chocolate and ornages for Christmas!
Then the several hour ques to the shops just to get some meat or bread.
Hell, the only thing that was in those shops was fucking vinegar if you
came to late!
Police hours - you couldnīt be out after eight in the night, student
demonstrations, fighting with the police, hunger-strikes in the hospitals,
armoured cars in the streets in the winter of ī83 (I donīt remember this
exactly as I was only 2)... those were the times. If someone had a pair of
blue jeans or an original vinyl record they were considered god... ____________________

From the point of view of a person born in 1985...
Yeah, I was born in ī85. I had tons of cassettes. (Basically kid songs and
lullabies, but it still counts)
I remember a little thing of the gulf war, but nothing much more than a
news brief.
I very much wanted a nintendo, even played them at the blockbuster. Didnīt
get a super nintendo until I was maybe nine or ten.
I remember how I begged my parents for LA lights sneakers, or the sneakers
with the hard plastic ninja turtle pictures on them. I never got them, but
I begged all the same.
I remember when (for those of you in California) KCAL had -good- cartoons.
Rescue Rangers, Transformers, and the Smurfs.
My first computer was in 1993. It had windows 3.1, so it was basically
still DOS. By the way, I love DOS. I think it rocks. You can (if you know
your way around well) perform actions much quicker than windows. And I have
never seen DOS crash. Stupid Windows.
I had a red firetruck car... that you pedalled. No stupid electic motor. I
had to pedal that thing, or enlist my brother to push it. That thing
rocked. It lasted quite a long time, despite the fact that we crashed it
into brick walls regularly.
I remember the neighborhood kids having scooters. Not stupid razor ones,
but scooters with tires that looked like little bike tires.
I donīt remember Reagan getting shot, nor Challenger exploding. I donīt
remember the Berlin Wall falling, either.
But to all those old bats, we respect you.

Nintendo, shit, I started my gaming on an Intelivision, now thatīs old
skewl. I used to program my own DOS games in Basic (not that new fangled
QBasic or VB)
I did manage to miss out on the bungee on the VCR though. ____________________ Sometimes I dream about dinosaurs shopping for cargo shorts at the Gap.

Naw, we donīt need a cane (yet) or shooting.
The problem is that the young īuns think the older people and their stuff
sucks and we think that other way around. Itīs a never ending thing that
was, is and will be, and there is little or nothing we can do about it.
What I donīt like is that their music, culture and whatever is getting
evermore simple and easy. makes you wonder what there will be in the radio,
on TV or on the streets in say, 20 years from now... ____________________

eeek tight jeans *shudder*
At least itīs not stretchpants.
Aw, I guess some of the kiddies are sort of cute, all itty bitty and
wearing gigantic clothes and trying to look all tough. I have to restrain
the urge to pants them tho, itīd be so EASY *bites fist*
Iīm just getting fucking old I think...I see a group of kids hanging
outside a grocery store at midnight and the first thought into my head is
"Goddamned kids...isnīt this a school night? Does your mother know where
you are? You call that music? Hanging out? Looks like LOITERING to me
*snarl*"
Then I realise what Iīm thinking and I freak and think "Oh GOD Iīm one of
THEM..one of THOSE people...AAAAAKKKKK"
Then I calm myself by telling myself Iīm practicing for being the crazy old
woman down the street that throws apples at kids getting off the bus and
popping footballs that come over my wall.
Happens to the best of us.
I just wanna cry when I hear some kid ask what the challenger shuttle thing
was, or what an 8 track was, or regan got shot? When?
I got an email saying "You know youīre old if..."
and had all these reasons.
Kids born in 1985 will have always had cdīs.
Do not remember the challenger shuttle blowing up.
Were only a couple years old during the gulf war.
Nintendo (original) was outdated when they were old enough for
videogames.
VCRīS are common, DVDīs even more so.
Have always remembered having the internet.
I fucking remember when the internet got BIG!
When having a computer in your house was a BIG DEAL, and only RICH or TECH
type people had them.
I had a record player, and an 8 track before I had tapes!
VCR remotes had a little bungie cord that connected it to the back of it!
Same with TVīS!
I got a nintendo in 5th grade (about a year after it came out I think) for
getting straight Aīs and that was BIG!
When computers operated mainly on DOS and had NO graphics.
*sigh*
someone shoot me or get me a cane.

Yeah, its the new generation. (Specifically, my generation... damn them
all) They have their own style, which is to be expected... Times change,
you know...
But I go to a carnival, and there is all these hoody-punks... I donīt mind,
really. Some of them are my friends. Some not. Who cares.
But then some old bats come by, proudly wearing their tight jeans and
īhawks, and I smile inside... These guys rock. Theyīve survived while most
of their generation has cut their hair and donned ties.
Its inspirational.
Just thought to add that. ____________________ Piggy's got the Conch! |

I was called an avril lavigne wannabe because I was wearing black and

for wearing fishnets..
