I hate work as much as the next person, but unfortunately for me no matter
how much work drives me up the wall I don't get to quit. Plus, goth and
the military doesn't seem to mix well, or not for me. Though the reactions
the first time a cowork or supervisor sees me in all black with fishnets
and black painted nails is priceless. Anyone else out there in the
military or prior military? ____________________ Michael Schultz

I am in the Air Force so there isn't much gung ho around here. I am seen
as strange and keep to myself. Though I don't shock people as much as I
did. Now they just shake their heads at me. The hardest thing for my so
far has been finding like minded individuals in the local area so I end up
chatting a lot online. ____________________ Michael Schultz

I am in the Navy. Sure people think I am strange, but that is civilian too.
Being stationed in San Diego is cool as far as goth people go. San Diego is
average as far as cities go though. Other navy people debate with my life
style and joke with me about it. Most mean no harm from it just curious
about it. The "gun hos" are prosily the most curious. They see normies
slacking, disrespecting, or getting kicked out for drugs. Yet the black
sheep surpasses most of them. The biggest problem they have with me is my
hair. I keep just within regs. If you are having those problems remember,
"Perception define everyone's view of you, so give them no reason for them
to perceive you as a 'shit bag'."

My apperance has to be the big shocker. You see my in uniform and how I
normally act in your inform and compare it how I look out of uniform. It
is like ying and yang. Sharp troop awards, letters of appreciation,
letters of recognition, top performer award. Then they see me out of
uniform. At my last base I was close to where I grew up so I was asked a
couple times if I had a twin. ____________________ Michael Schultz

like your pixs. they are excellent. i understand about the chatting online
thing. it keeps you going when things slow down around you. i recently
moved to alabama this year, my husband's stationed here for a couple of
years, needless to say i live in bubbaville. so i entered shmeng, and
usually end up arguing over some political issue, not really productive but
enough to vent a little bit. ____________________

There are not goths in the military...nor are there actually ANY
goths...for that matter, I'm pretty sure the military doesn't really exist
either.
But seriously folks.

I almost got in the Brazilliam Air Force... I´m pretty good at the
simulators, but I decided continue with art stuff. Nowadays I´m ummployed
and I´m looking for some job... i need study, it´s my obssession!
I love aircrafts, specially the russian SU-37 and the N-American F-15, but
my passion really is the SU-37.
There´s goth militaries!! If I where not studying art, I would be a dog
fighter... that´s my second love... aircrafts.

I as well enjoyed your photography. but as far as the military air force or
otherwise is concerned. I live in Canada, I don’t trust our equipment
enough to live around it. ____________________ fucking classy. |

anyone STUPID enough to join the military deserves everything they get,
from the long hours, to the harsh regimes to the shock of their peers when
it is discovered that you arent the same person out of uniform. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

Yeah, and I hope that you get everything you deserve for any and all stupid
decisions you've made in your life.
And I'll make sure to tell my cousin in Iraq how stupid you think he is for
joining the military instead of sticking around his old high school friends
and becoming a criminal or a drug addict with them. Yeah, that was really
dumb. He sure deserves to be shot at and live in a desert. Gotta love the
just deserts of a fatherless teenager trying to keep his life straight.
But of course, you know enough about every military person's life to judge
for them what is a smart or stupid decision. How omniscient of you. ____________________ "You can tell by the scars on my arms and the cracks in my hips and the

valid reasons for joining the us military.
1) Full ride to college - gi bill
2) on the job training with a FUCKING AWESOME RETIREMENT PLAN
3) a chance to get out of the low income part of the spectrum
4) because, no matter how this country sucks... we are free... and freedom
has a price...
Worm... if you live in the united states... then fuck you man... i bled for
your right of speech... when the weather changes, i weep because my
shoulder (bulet wound) feels like something out of the movie aliens... you
may not like what the government does, but without people willing to fight
for your ass, you would be nothing more than another speed bump on the
M5... so, at the very least show some respect for those people that
continue to give the right... ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

I think the chap is British, but the same applies for him, because there
are hundreds and thousands of soldiers who are now dead or war veterans
with old wounds and horrible memories who kept his precious self from
having to learn the goosestep. Stupid military people - they deserved all
they got, too, right?
Be it judgemental or just plain trollish, I'd challenge him to say those
words to a WWII vet. ____________________ "You can tell by the scars on my arms and the cracks in my hips and the

the WWII vets are starting to slow down. But the Korean vets are still
teitchy, and so are the Vietnam vets.
But the Gulf war vets, well they are ready to explode at a moments notice.
They didnt get to drink during thier war. And they had CNN up thier ass the
whole time.
And sure, they those dumb enough to enlist get what they get... medical
coverage (even if it is scary and occationally employees leaches), a
steady paycheck (even if it is lower than they might have maybe been able
to make in some other job), the risk of life and limb (and having to risk
other peoples lives and limbs), the sense of community (and the sense of
not belonging, even if that is baggage), the bad backs (and the better
physical condition that tends to go with it), the GI bill (or the medical
discharge), athletes foot (and free condoms), long boring watches and short
periods of excitement (which is sooo much different from long periods of
excitment and short periods of boredom). And a uniform that will get them
laid in the right bars. ____________________ Real goths wear silver and crosses to keep the werewolves and vampires

That uniform thing works for the guys, at least... the female uniforms
don't really do much to improve our appearance.

Anyone heard of conscription? Many of those people who died 'for me' or got
injured 'for me' were forced to.
and i did say EVERYTHING they get. so they do deserve their paycheck and
their medical cover.
it is a shame that some people see the military as the only way. presumably
librarys arent open anymore so its not possible to manage a decent
education?
and schizo. i am no hypocrite. find me a war veteran who chose to do what
they did and i will say anything to them that i would here. and i suspect
that they would retaliate with the threat of physical violence. paid
killers by choice.
i have got plenty for my poor decisions, though not as a direct result.
must be karma or something. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

Not trying to pick a fight here, feral, but I don't have to
respect our dipshits in uniform if I don't want to... and frankly, I'm
getting a bit fed-up with the whole "Land of the Free" cock-and-bull
tagline as well. You're argument here is the same as that of those who
oppose flag-burning... "This land represents FREEDOM! So here's what you
can and can not do with the flag!" I'm living in what is technically a
police state at the moment in a country that is still technically at war,
and I feel I have many more civil liberties here than I did in the
States... or at least everyone isn't always trying so desperately to remind
me how many "freedoms" I have (if it's so damned obvious, why do you keep
having to remind everyone every two minutes?)
Mostly, though, it's one thing to be a US service member overseas
(and I know you were, so don't get defensive) and it's quite another to
have to deal with the bastards. Yeah, American GI's see one
picture, but I can tell you that they are UNIVERSALLY loathed by everyone
else... and I have yet to find an American civilian living here that
doesn't hate American GI's along with everyone else.
I don't care if a knuckle dragger looks good in a uniform... I most
certainly do not have to respect them.
