· Why can't I post a picture?
- There can be no spaces in the file names.
- The image has to be a reasonable size. Some files straight out of the scanner are just too big.
- It's not yours. See the gallery question.
- It's not a normal image type. Images should be either .gif or .jpg format.

· Why didn't you approve my post?
There's a few answers here.
- It was lame.
- It was too short. If it's less than a paragraph, it better be damm interesting.
- We can approve posts but schedule them to post later to space them out.
- We haven't gotten around to it.
- It's redundant. If you're responding to a previous post, do it in the comments of that post.
- It was a yet another "What is Goth?" post.
- It sounded too much like poetry.
- Vampire Story
- It was an introduction.
- You used the name of someone we don't know (see below).
- Youl didn't write it
- It was a first chapter - see below
- It was a paper you wrote for school

· What do you have against poetry and vampire stories?
Nothing, We love poetry and vampire stories. But we hate bad poetry and bad vampire stories. It got to the point where all we were getting was bad teen-angst poetry and bad vampire stories, and people were getting pissed at us for not posting it on the site. Your poetry may be good and your vampire stories might be good, but we don't want to be the ones to decide whether it is or isn't. It's easier just to make a "No Poetry or Vampire stories" rule. There's plenty of other places on the net to post your words. Top

· Gallery Sumbmissions
Here's the rules:
- The Members gallery is for pictures of members. If it's not a photo of you, it won't get posted. This is not yahoo profiles. Borris Vallejo never painted you, so don't even try it.
- The art and photography gallerys are for original art and photography. If we even suspect that it's not completely your own creation (meaning you own the copyright), then it won't be posted. (A verifiable copyright notice on the image helps).
- If you have a lot of cool art that you want to post, and want a gallery of your own, just ask.
- You must get verified first. There is a whole section of the FAQ devoted to this

· I submitted something, Why'd you edit out my link?
If you want free publicity, do something impressive and let someone else write something cool about it. If you're just shamelessly self promoting, you're welcome to post your link in the links section - but we're not obligated by any stretch of the imagination to send you website traffic. Especially if you're not sending any here. Spam is Spam even if you dye it black.

· I posted an introduction, Why didn't you approve it?
Probably because it didn't say anything. Nobody is interested in reading yet another person saying "Hi, my name's raven, my interests are music, poetry and vampires. If anyone wants to chat email me." If you want to introduce yourself, post something profound. There's no need to say "This is my first time posting" or anything like that. If you write something interesting, people will remember you. If you don't, they won't.

· What's this about names in posts?
Ok, I thought this went without saying, but if you submit an article and it's talking about someone we don't know - you need to explain who they are or not use their name. Otherwise we're going to assume they are voices in your head. If you say "me and Johnny went to the store", and Johnny isn't the name of someone on this site - I'm going to ask Bob if he likes Johnny, and if Bob says no - I'm just going to tell Amanda to delete you and Johnny's post whether Dave thinks it's good or not.

· I pasted something from another site, it was really good
Shmeng only posts original writing. Period. It doesn't matter how good it is, if you didn't write it you're breaking the law by posting it here, and we'd be breaking the law by approving it. You're also violating our Terms of Use. If it's really that good - submit it to the web links section. Top

· I sent in my first chapter. Where is it?
Probaly sent back to you. check your messages. We really dont want to post your bits of unfinished ideas. Complete your story then send it in. And if it's more than one chapter, submit it all at once, and we'll schedule them a few days apart so that people can read them and enjoy them. Top

· Any other reasons why you didnt post my work?
1) This is not a goth site.
2) Crap poetry scribbled out on a cocktail napkin at three in the morning while you weep in your coffee which is as black as your soul (except for the hoards of sugar and cream you heaped in) has no interest to anyone but you.
3) No purple prose without a damn good reason.
4) "you just don't understand my individualistic style of self-expresionistic writing!". Fine send it somewhere else, where they will understand you. Top

· But I got an A on my school paper, why didn't you post it?
We're just not interested. There are a lot of people on the site in school, but the people running it are grownups. The site itself is for grownups. We usually tolerate teenagers, but only if they're acting like grownups. We are under no obligation to tolerate them. If you're going to post something for the site, write it for the site. Don't recycle your thoughts. If it's written for school, it's not going to sound like it was written for this site, and therefore won't be interesting to us. Even if you think it is. Top
