everything now a day's "causes" violence. how can people honestly say that
watching people get hurt on TV causes violence. how can they say that video
games cause violence. they have even gone far enough to say that music
causes violence.
let me know what you think about this.

As far as im concerned I agree, everything now-a-day causes violence in one
form or another. Now, whether it be caused by the upbringing, the locale,
mental defect, et cetera is a diffrent story all together. It's completely
asinine to believe that music, video games, movies, and TV are some of the
main causes of violence. If you want to find the source of the violence
look towards something far less trivial. Instead of blaming our current
media, take in to consideration that our entire planet is driven by war and
an overwhelming desire to succeed at nearly any cost. As well as the fact
that we have a warhawk of a president just further complicating this
problem. Rather than asking "what is causing the violence in our society?"
and then inevitably scapegoating it on media we should just realize that it
is our entire society that drives this violence not just a few independent
variables. |

be careful how you use those words around here.
but other than that, I only agree somewhat with what your saying. what we
watch can not directly change our actions making us violent. how is that at
all possible. When is the last time you saw a violent movie then got up and
killed someone. and yes, it may be fuelling a violent society, but it did
not start the violence. the violence was humans pre-disposition.

Hmm, I believe I may have been slightly misunderstood. I was agreeing media
is not at fault for the violence. I dont mean to offend anyone
with the "mental defect" thing I was jsut eluding more towards anti-social
disorder and other mental diseases that are violence prone. |

Everyone can say that media does not cause violence, and everyone can say
that media does cause violence, but either way there is violence and always
will be. There will be no world peace, there will be no Utopia, there will
always be problems and somehow they will always be dealt with and blamed on
someone or something. A lot of the time the people who are blaming the
violence on the television shows their children watch shouldn't be blaming
the shows, but they should be blaming themselves for not paying enough
attention to the shows their children let melt their minds. Violence was,
is, and always will be a part of human nature. ____________________ "People always say what we are looking for is a meaning for life…I don't

Perhaps, but the world in general is getting better. Slowly. No thanks to

If we were primates everything would be ok. When was the last time you saw
a Chimp commit genocide, adultary ...or steal an election? |

Watch the discovery channel, Wok. Chimps can be just as mean and violent as
humans, with just as little cause. ____________________ Okay, dazzle me. |

Wok: 1) we ARE primates... scientifically speaking... that is the family we
fall into...
2) our base behaviors, facial expressions and reactions are 98% similar at
birth and during childhood as those of apes...
3) WormWood cited an example in another forum... Put a ladder in the center
of the room with a bucket on it. WHen ever one of the apes touches the
ladder, blast the room with high pressure cold water. Introduce a new
ape... when he approaches the ladder, they will beat the everliving fuck
out of him. Each time you introduce a new ape, remove one of the original
troupe. Eventually, all the apes that knew the water would happen are gone,
but they still attack when someone gets near the ladder... just fucking
humans...
If one band of chimps invades another's territory... they will attempt to
kill the invading band - genocide... we're jsut better at it as we have
invented nukes, guns and daytime television...
The troupes alpha has sex with anyone he wants... monogamy is a primarily
human thing, honestly - adultery
and we're the only primates who have a popularity contest for leadership...
The eldest/strongest leads a troupe of apes, as they have proved they have
what it takes to survive...
your citations are examples that are not really fitting to the situation...
but they seem to be doing it better than us anyway ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

Chimps are goddamned MEAN assholes. You pretty much have the strength of a
full grown man with the temper of a 3 year old child in a lightning quick,
flixible and small package. And they are JUST like us, in so many ways.
You're safer being dropped into a family of gorillas than chimps. Gorillas
are more gentle and respond to submissive behavior of intruders or even
assailants, whereas chimps will beat and claw the fuck out of you while you
cower on the ground just cuz you caught them in a "bad mood".

thats rather obvious feral. apes (along with humans) think very
primitively. they cant help it. and neither can we. unless we all
simultaneously have an epiphany and start thinking more clearly. we are all
doomed to be trapped within the walls of our ignorance. ____________________ fucking classy. |

Great apes ARE very termpermental and very very like their cousins that
made it "over the hump". But of the two discussed, gorillas vs chimps,
I'll place my bet on a gorilla any day.
People are just plain mean. Even the best have "bad" thoughts, but most of
