There may be a thread for this... but I am too lazy to search through all
the music threads...
this is for posting bands or songs that you like... but are afraid to
admit to your friends... or that people would "snicker" at you for...
To get the ball rolling... I enjoy the blue man group... I love sting,
cause the man himself is GOTH AS FUCK... and (looks at the ground) I like
linkin park.. ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

I like girlie bubblegum pop from the 70's and 80's. (ie.Abba, Blondie, the
Go-Go's, Scandal.)
I do remember making this confession before, but it wasn't in a forum.
There was an article (by Bettie, as I recall) about guilty pleasures in
musical tastes. It was lively as I recall, and I'm sure people are still
listening to things in the closet, so there's no harm in reviving the topic
that I can see. ____________________ "I believe that woman is planning to shoot me again." |

I listen to Cat Stevens. It's a family thing. I have a Hanson song on my
computer.
And you know, sometimes I listen to rap.
But only people like Twista and such. The ones that actually have good
rapping skills.
Yes. It has been said. My boyfriend thinks I'm evil for the rap thing, but
really, I'm not. *shifty eyes* ____________________

I never really felt like I got snickered at for liking Sting...both Solo
and with The Police, but I always have enjoyed his works.
So here goes...I like listening to Marilyn Manson, NIN and cheesy or
not...I like Linkin Park songs. ____________________ "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never

I have a great weakness for....Christmas music.
So sue me, I had a happy childhood, and Christmas music brings back
memories. I at least try to listen to darkwave holiday music, if for no
other reason than to freak out the relatives. |

I have in the past been laughed at for having an Enya CD in my small carry
around collection - but I didn't feel bad about it or anything.
I like all kinds of music and don't really have problems "admitting" it.
uh, I like all kinds of metal, punk is something i can listen to but i
don't really like most of it though there are some bands that i do like.
and when i say punk i mean all 36 genres of it. very very very VERY few
individual country songs are listenable. love 60's and 70's music, like
50's kind of music as well. i like pop punk - not much into the popular
music scene but its bouncy and fun like tigger. i also like all these
genre's in many different languages. ummm.... yep i like music. Nsync - i
liked them. don't like the majority of pop bands but some songs i do like -
just individual songs.

Yeah, I didn't put much of anything in my guilty pleasures list. Only one
of the three in that list am I even remotely close to feeling guilty about.
I listen to pretty much everything. I do enjoy some country. I enjoy a lot
of different pop music. Punk is great, but typically only the original
punk. Very few pop punk bands do I find enjoyable. I absolutely love swing
music. Frank Sinatra is king. I like ska. Techno. All kinds of metal.
I suppose it depends on what you think you should be guilty about. I'm not
guilty about any of it really, except maybe the rap... That is rather
questionable. ____________________

Because these are the types of music that people would stereotypically be
ashamed of. It makes for conversation. After all, I thought this was a
message board where people shared thoughts, opinions and preferences and
things of that nature. Forgive me if I was wrong. I'll just stop talking
then? ____________________

Nah, keep 'em flying whether you you feel guilty about 'em or not.
'Course, I ain't so sure what good a pleasure is without a little guilt,
but the input's always nice. ____________________ "I believe that woman is planning to shoot me again." |

I listen to the J-Rock group The Pillows. I.. uh.. blame it on my gay side.
My gay side also likes The Gorillaz, most techno (I think I might be a
closet raver goth), Madonna, Enya, Didio, umm.. that "ditta diddo'' song
from the early 90's late 80's, Queen, many more guilty pleasures I can't
think of right now... ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

OMG! PILLOWS!!
i love The Pillows XD, they did all the music for FLCL, which is an anime
for those who don't know. they're a awesome fun band yay!
A friend of mine at work and I were talking the other day and she mentioned
about a guilty music pleasure that she loves Backstreet Boys. She even has
a tattoo that means.. Backstreet Boys live forever or something like that.
she doesn't really tell many people that though cus otherwise she is
totally punk/metalhead type.

I liked the Backstreet Boys quite a lot in middle school, however I can't
say that I still listen to them. I'm sure I still know all the words to
their songs. If a Backstreet Boys song were to come on my playlist through
some sort of phenomenon, I wouldn't be that terribly upset. ____________________

First of all, I dont think anybody dislike Blondie. The Go-Gos are a
different matter. I like them but then I'm weird that way.
My guilty little secret is stuff I know is crap. Atari Teenage Riot is
pretty fucking horrible but throw Lords of Acid on their too.
I also like late 50s/early 60s crap because as a kid I watched too many
Stephen King and David Lynch movies and that crap always came off as really
sinister to mee. ____________________
