Shmeng of the Week: My train ride home |

Slowly meandering towards Moorabbin station after being dropped off by Kt and her family, wondering if my ticket from last night will still be valid. I see the train out of the corner of my eye; all the people are getting off. After validating my ticket I slowly walk down the ramp towards the train, it starts moving. Cursing myself for not bringing my disc-man with a Manson CD. It was 17 minutes until the next train arrives.
I plonk myself down on the bench; five minutes pass and some people catch my eye, walking towards me. One of them had a Slipknot t-shirt on, carrying an acoustic guitar, another had a red mo-hawk carrying a big bag and quilt, one guy had a big hat on big jacket a beard, piercings all over his face and was gently carrying a tiny ginger kitten, I smile at him, and he smiles back. They all sat down near me, they start playing with the kitten, and the guy with the guitar starts tuning it up.
He starts playing Manson dope show, I smile to myself as a couple of them start singing the words, I thought, who needs a disc-man when there are people like this around. Sitting there resisting singing along with them watching these talented people singing one of my favorite songs and playing with a little ginger kitten, they start talking about what color they are gonna' dye their hair next time (they chose red).
I hear the sounds of the next train to flinders street coming, they get up and start walking towards the door, I wish they’d come on the Frankston train. They get into the carriage. At that moment an overweight businessman walks past me and I smile at him. He glances towards the people with the kitten, guitar and weird clothes and he mumbled to himself, “What is this, the scum bag convention?”.
I couldn’t believe what I'd just heard. On one hand, we have a group of talented, free-spirited nice alternative people having fun with their lives and on the other an overweight, conceited businessman insulting them because of how they looked. I was disgusted, and I think it showed on my face, never before had I witnessed so closely the arrogance of the ‘common man’. I thought to myself how are they the scum buckets when they make me smile and, well, he makes me sick! I sat there thinking and I realized I had just seen the exact replica of the kind of person I DON’T want to be!
I’ve never been too sure of what I have wanted, but today I found out that I can find out what I want by the process of elimination!

It never fails when you are having a good time and your happy with life that some shallow minded asshole appears and ruins it for you. Nice though that you wished for Manson and got it...hehe. That just kicks booty! People are so clueless sometimes and thats exactly why I stay home. I go out when it is with people that I can relate to and arent shallow. Just shows you who the real scum bag is *growls*

Please note the third rail. One can easily make roast business man with it.
Alternativly, should you want a ginger kitten of your own, one could easilly make roast punk/goth/whatever.
Please note, the roast punk/goth/whatever is easier to make, as the higher content of metal adds to the conductivity of the meat, and allows it to cook faster.
If there is no third rail, then waiting until the train starts moving will allow you to make a nice thick chunky stew...

::eye twitches:: He made fun of a guy with a kitten? Had I been there I would've had to do all I could to stop myself from kicking that guy in the groin and telling him to take the next train.

I'm impressed with your self-control. The last time I saw/heard something like that I ended up mouthing a few choice words and flipping off an unsuspecting soccer mom.

That's one reason why I am who I am, to not be some arrogant, judgmental, stuck up asshole. Well written article!
