Shmeng of the Week: Since when is it funny to be rude? |
Posted by
gothvail on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 10:20 PM PST
Here's a little conversation I had with a "fan" today (using the loosest possible translation of the word), and I have to say, since when is being rude the same thing as being funny? Does this guy always use threats to get women naked? I did try really hard not to let him get to me, but Geez! I have changed his name here to--er--protect his identity.
dickhead: so how do you make the jump from wanna-be-cam whores to full fledged ones?
dickhead: is that guy your boyfriend?
vailgoth: Yes, he is. You need 500 votes to get there.
dickhead: how many votes do you have?
dickhead: ask your boyfriend to show his nipples in accordance with yours
vailgoth: I have 425 positive votes and 236 negative, which is a total of 189.
vailgoth: I don't think he will.
dickhead: ask him nicely
dickhead: it would be fun
vailgoth: He doesn't like to be on cam.
dickhead: if you don't do this nipple thing as effective as of right now im going to tell all my friends (including [another jerk] and his friends) to give you nothing but negative votes...at this rate you'll never be a genuine cam-whore
dickhead: SO DO IT
vailgoth: Well, I don't take kindly to this sort of thing, you know.
vailgoth: afterall, it's only one vote per person.
dickhead: im in a frat and there's like a hundred brothers and they all know about the web site and what a skanky whore you are
dickhead: EMMMMMMMMM
vailgoth: You know, I don't have to take rudeness. If you can't ask for things politely, you don't deserve to get them. I am not a whore and I ns anymore that you deserve anything from me.
dickhead: fifty negative votes will put you at... 139.... thats not looking so good
vailgoth: You know, I don't really care.
dickhead: ice kitty is hotter anyway
vailgoth: Fine. Maybe she deserves you.
dickhead: and your snaggle-toothed boyfiendi is ugly as holy fucking hell
vailgoth: You know, most people are very polite, and it is very hard to piss me off, but congratulations, you have succeeded.
vailgoth: Jealous?
dickhead: you look like an enormous piece of shit in those flannel pajamas... jesus and your tits are small.... you are homely like an amish girl
vailgoth: Yup, jealous.
vailgoth: I thought so.
dickhead: actually im just kidding
dickhead: i love you
vailgoth: I bet you say that to all the girls!
dickhead: you know youre pretty-- im just bored
dickhead: and i love your tits
dickhead: later

maybe you should instate a screening exam? see if they can write 3 sentaces about a naked female body without using the word hooters, cunt, or whore? might loose you some cash, but save you some agrivation.
Hehehe did you get his IP?

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by gdlke (-) on Feb 28, 2002 - 12:26 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://gdlke.tripod.com | The undressed body of a beautiful woman is something to be treasured. Treasured because of the selfless giving it represents, not because of its carnal implications. This willingness to give what society dictates as sacred is what makes nudity so lovely.
(1...2...3. That is three sentances right?)

the second 'sentance' isnt a complete sentance, so it cant really count. |

Oh, okay!
I see how it is!
Just because I stand up for the little guys who cannot defend themselves( such as dependent clauses that are being unfairly discriminated against) that makes the thread "way weird"?! I see how it is.
(I really hope you know that i'm joking)

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by callei (plyn@plynlymon.com) on Mar 02, 2002 - 01:51 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://www.plynlymon.com | I wonder if they appriciate all that you do for them? I mean here you are in a public forum, touting thier praises to all and sundry, and what do they do for you in return? get you ranted at by a grammar nazi?
I hope you get more from the relationship than that, but then crusading is often a thankless job.
You will be remembered, I will see to it that the words "defender of the dangling participle and champion of the dependant clause" appear on your tombstone, even if I have to spray paint them on!
( i am assuming that you know that i am joking by now as well) |

I would love to go to new orleans..I've always wanted to go, not just during mardi gras, though that is also a future plan of ours...I just wanna get sauced on the street and try not to get mugged.
I miss garbage pail kid cards.... |

Heh, and I know I wouldn't be traded, I wouldn't let her! Maybe you and michael could make it a late / second honeymoon present kind of thing. |

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by gdlke (-) on Feb 28, 2002 - 07:42 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://gdlke.tripod.com | Only two and a half! Come on , you gotta give me more credit than that. I mean, the only reason it is not a complete sentance is because I left the noun implied from the first sentance. Granted, I should have used a pronoun, but....
Poetic license? At least give me the credit and make it like 2.9 sentances or something.

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by callei (plyn@plynlymon.com) on Feb 28, 2002 - 08:26 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://www.plynlymon.com | actually the noun and verb are implied. It is a sentance fragment, an 'i-cant-think-of-the-word-ringt-now-but its-like-dangling-participle' and wouldnt make it past a 5th grade teacher, that is why i said 2.5 since it is 2.5 sentaces.
I also said e for effort, extra plusses for the tone, and that i am not the judge, but that seems to have been overlooked. |

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by gdlke (-) on Feb 28, 2002 - 10:13 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://gdlke.tripod.com | I think you are wrong on this account. (And I don't want to start a fight.) I am looking at the sentence, and the more I think about it, the more I believe that it is a complete and legitimate sentence. If you still disagree, I would (greatly) appreciate being shown where I am wrong. (And once again, I am not trying to be argumentative; I would really like to understand where my mistake is, if there is one.)
Thanks

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by callei (plyn@plynlymon.com) on Feb 28, 2002 - 11:22 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://www.plynlymon.com | Grammer brush up arent fights, its what friends are for (and this coming from someone wtih an entire typo page to her credit!)
'Treasured because of the selfless giving it represents, not because of its carnal implications.' right?
where is the subject? where is the verb that the subject acts on? Where is the object of that verb?
the implied part of the sentance is "it is to be..." with "it' being the subject and 'is' being the verb that the subject acts on. It could also be "it must be..." with must making the start of the verb clause. 'It" can stand in for 'The undressed body of a beautiful woman' for easy of reading for sure, altho i like the phrase myself.
if you had put a coma or a semi colon it would have been one complete sentance (sorta), but as it stands, it is a fragment.
"treasured" is a trasative verb, requiring an object and there is no direct object in this sentance. the object is in the proceding sentance. (i treasured it)
and as 'tresured' here is not being used as "i treasure' but rather as ' i must treasure' or ' i am to treasure' it is not really the verb either.
Is this clear? I am trying to use examples to make it more so, but im not an English teacher and it has been years since I took the classes so I forget the words for the types of verb clauses and such. I hope this helps. |

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by gdlke (-) on Feb 28, 2002 - 12:20 PM (User info | Send a Message) http://gdlke.tripod.com | Okay, after looking over what I wrote and taking into account the points that you made I have come to a conclusion. You are correct, my second "sentence" is not a complete sentence. It should have been a dependent clause included in the first sentence. But then I agrue this (because the whole debate revolves around whether or not a guy can write three sentences about naked women without certain words): the first sentence and the third sentence count: 2 sentences = 2 points. The second sentence contains a punctuation error in that I should have connected it to the first, effectively piggybacking the noun and verb from sentence 1 =half a point. I argue that because of the complexity of the sentence (dependant clause) that I should recieve credit for it, perhaps a "bonus" of half a point. Ergo: 1 point for sentence 1,1 point for sentence 3, one half point for the second sentence (like you said), and one half point for the complex sentence involving the dependent clause = 3 points which stands for three sentences.
What do you think?

giggle.
and thank you for remembering the phrase dependant clause, i just could not bring that to mind earlier.
as to the grading, you have now writen many sentances about the sentances refering to a naked female body, so i guess you pass.
And you get extra marks for courage, debate skills, and poetic value. |

Nor which State or College. I had been talking to a couple of his frat brothers as well, but they both stayed within reasonable limits, which is to say, not any great conversation but I didn't feel the need to disembowel any of them. |

I am glad I don't understand half of what this "gentleman" says. Women used to say that men think with their penis, someone who chooses dickhead as nicjname must agree. I do, in his case.
By the way, anyone else has noticed he didn't threat Vail to get her but HER BOYFRIEND naked? I'd say this guy has a severe problem of sexual identity.
Now, I'll go back to my mumbling...

Very astute of you to notice that point. I just assume that frat boys are gay and in denial and drink that much to deal with the pain they are causing themselves. |

I understand that when you do what you do, you have to expect some people who are just going to be rude and ignorant, but do you put up with it all the time? I don't know how you handle it, I would have freaked out on that guy. I don't know why some people insist on spreading hate and their filth, trying to infect the rest of us

Re: Since when is it funny to be rude? by gothvail (vail@gothicamateur.com) on Feb 28, 2002 - 10:29 AM (User info | Send a Message) http://www.gothicamateur.com | I never tolerate rudeness in what I do. Most people I deal with are very polite and respectful and understand that the way to get a girl naked and doing what you want her to do is by being nice. When people are rude to me, I let them know that they are and tell them that I don't have to take it from them. If they do not apologise, they don't get to talk to me again. |

thats what makes talking in person better, if they can be rude to you offline like that atleast they'll (usually) be within distance of your fist..i don't take kindly to sexual harassment; didn't mean to be so violent
