"no where did I suggest an offensive" -- my only intention was to repeat what I said in my original post for emphasis. My personal experience begins with family roots in a wide range of religious traditions, including Santeria and similar practices. It has inspired years of study (and I'm still studying), and has culminated in some conclusions that were not forced down my throat and which I would not force down another's. However, I can safely say that the ancient texts that speak most knowledgeably about karmic law state it works irrespective of faith. And I heartily agree on the need for simple protective practices. I just think it's vital -- and this is the real point of Schizo's dilemma -- to know exactly what it is one is protecting oneself against and not give into panic and expend one's energies in unfamiliar territory. Just because someone claims to be a witch, and from a family that practices witchcraft, and to cast spells, and does generate a lot of ill will, it doesn't mean that person isn't merely a bully blowing gaudy smoke through her orifices. She is no more to be believed than the menacing slob on the bar stool who shows you his concealed weapon and claims to be a hitman for the CIA. I'll say it again, to the person this really matters most, and for the last time if she doesn't have a use for it: Schizo, you already have the means to deflect even extraordinary negative energy. You can choose methods within your own faith traditions that will not dilute your strength or you can use time and energy exploring an area your opponent is supposedly more comfortable with. Whatever your decision, I wish you the best.
