Blue Battlefield

The sea, in all its tides and fury, in all its deep blue beauty, in all it's eternal motion. The sea is as we have made it. It, like all the lands upon the world is just one more great battlefield. The waves, which crash over manmade boats in attempts to relate a final message. That we, of all the creatures upon the land or in the sea, do not belong.
Wind gust past the starboard bow of a new fledgling ship, a ship of war and violence. To destroy and kill the others upon the ocean. An endless blue fell before it as the darkness began to fall. As night entered into the world. Swirling magnitudes of clouds had already amassed a looming gray above the ship, and sailors manned their own stations.

"It will be a rough night, keep an eye out, these are dangerous waters we're entering." A lone voice softened by the thrum of waves beating upon the hull. Another nameless sailor aboard another nameless vessel upon the battlefield of the esea.

"Where are they? Are they here? I see nothing!" A frantic voice booms in over a small speaker as the clouds become a pitch black. "They'll be here, They'll be here." A sailor replies as he pulls on a raincoat and walks abroad upon the deck, searching the sea for their invisible oponent.

Flashes of lightning dart across the sky and wails of the wind pound upon every man'seardrums as though the shrieks of those men already gone below the surface were trying to warn these lone sailors of their impending doom. The sea, it itself cries out and as though in irony strong blasts are shot from their opponents, hitting the hull of the ship.

"They are here." The watchman cries out and cannons are manned, waiting for their elusive opponent.

The storm rages on, lightning graces the skies once more and another ship can be seen ashort distance away. The invisible stars in the sky could not have shone half as brightly as did thelightning that night. Two more shots pierced the air in opposition as explosions upon impact were heard from the other ship.

However, that would not be the end as shots were fired and returned. Could it be the end? As all who fight must try to win, there would be no hope for these tonight.

The waves beat against both ships, and rolled over the sides. Large, gapping holes ran through the sides of each, as they were facing each other. Side to side as the battle rode on. Each ship was sinking as water filled it's bowels. Yet neither would give up, so both would drown. The ships began to drop, as though a heavy weight was crushing them, pushing them beneath the water. Almost as a child who plays with toy ships within his own little world of make believe. Water rushed over them, enveloping both in the darkness of the merciless ocean. Yet neither would give up, neither would win. And as the last sail went down, the storm began to settle, ever so slightly, as though calmed by the ends of the fighting ships. A final call from beneath the waves, as a fog horn died in the mists of the frothing sea.

The day after the sky was blue, and nothing was left atop the water. Thousands of souls had sunk to the bottom and no man remained afloat. However, a still calm rode the rippling waves, and the sun shone brightly as though to warm the graves of those two ships who had fought so hard the previous day. Yet to what victory would it amount, as neither won, and both were lost forever beneath the endless sea of blue frothing waves. The sea is as we made it, an endless blue battlefield. Or perhaps, an endless blue graveyard, full of the centuries of battle, that we have made it so.
