I've been working to redecorate my apartment for the past year now and I've
been trying to do it without spending too much money.
But the truth is this, redesiging your place is freakin' expensive!
First there was the dining room. I bought a new desk, plants, book shelf
and baskets/boxes organize things
Dining room before..
Dining room after...
Then there was the bathroom shelves.
Then there was the complete bedroom redesign that cost me $900
And this is just showing the bed. I also bought two nice book shelves, a
cabinet to put my "spiritual items" in, black iron wall mirror, white mesh
bed curtain and windows curtains and paint that has yet to be done. I still
need to buy the white cotton to make the roman blinds.
Then I started working on celtic knotwork around the windows. And these are
not stenciles. They are drawn by hand using a pencil and ruler followed
with two different colors of sage paint. The colors will stand out more
when there is more than 1 coat.
Now there is the hallway...
Before...
And Nearly after
I say nearly after because it isn't finished. The wall is filled with
weapons yet there is still some artwork and larger weapons such as a
crusadures sword, claymore and pike to go up as long as a few more daggers
and a piece of art of a female warrior with an axe in her lap above the
kitchen window. The light switches were replaced with big black switches to
make it easier to find in the dark and the plates are silver nickle (nickle
brushed with silver) to match the weapons. I also need to paint the white
shoe rack beneath the hall table black so it doesn't stand out so much!
This is getting expensive! Next week I have to spend more money on a new
bed and desk for my daughter, wood for the book shelf around the fireplace
and paint to do a night sky on my daughters ceiling.
And all this in an apartment! *opens wallet and watches the moths fly off
with her money in their bellies*
It is worth it but I just have one thing to say, there is no such thing as
a cheap redesign. No matter what television tells you.
Things left to do list:
1. Finish hallway
2. Finish celtic knotwork around windows
3. Paint dining room brick red
4. Paint around fireplace with blood red and black to do marble effect.
5. Measure, build and paint book shelves around fireplace so there are
black shelves allowing for two twin axes on wall at top and a painting in
the center while showing the painted walls without showing mounts for the
shelves.
6. Clean and organize kiddos room so she has a new start for junior high
next year. (This is high priority since she will be back from grandma's in
3 weeks)
7. Finish web design updates.
8. Edit book
9. Find new job because this one sucks A$$ and abuses it's employees
talents illegally.
And so on.. damn.. there is just too much to do, not enough money and
definately not enough time.
The positives to all of this is that it feels really good considering I
moved to this state with no money on a flight with two boxes and a suit
case. It feels good to toss out the thrift store furniture and buy nice
stuff I have always dreamed of.

You've done a great job with all the rooms! I especially like the weapons
wall.

Thanks you two. You know BL, people keep asking me to redecorate their
places now that I've started this hehe. I used to work as an apprentice to
decorator in LA but I quit because there just wasn't much work in the field
unless you knew a lot of people.
It sure was fun spending other people's money though. But I got sick of
ropping off living rooms for rich people when I was done because they
didn't want their kids to touch it. It seemed stupid as hell to have me do
all that work and spend all that money just to rope it off like a
musuem.
