Apparently some site I surfed onto had a trojan virus on it, because my
Norton anti-virus came up and told me it repaired some files. So when I
reviewed the reports I found out there was another time there had been a
trojan that had been repaired. These files were backup files in the
section, and it said they'd been repaired, so I went ahead and deleted them
as I am going to just assume all is well as it said they were merely a
backup of the files that had been repaired.
My question is regarding two files that apparently have been in quarantine
and unrepaired and apparently unrepairable. I didn't expect to see those
files in there as the computer place that we bought the comp. from had said
they removed the worm (sasserworm) completely from our computer, and so I
thought they'd removed the quaranteed files also. I didn't, in other words,
have a clue there were files sitting in quarantine so I had never checked
there since having the worm removed.
Well, the two files are named: 15399_up.exe and avserve.exe and I am
running Windows XP home edition. Does anyone know if those files are
needed or not? As they are unrepairable, I'd like to go ahead and delete
them off computer from the quarantine they are in if they are unneeded.
They've apparently been in quarantine since the month we got the computer,
so I would assume if they were quarantined then they are not being used at
all, and therefore must be unneeded. Sorry to sound like a dummy, but oh
well. ____________________ "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never

Yea, delete them - but quit getting viruses. They're totally preventable.

I am in agreement with Devin. I have searched rot htese on my XP and there
is no trace of them. Get the fuck rid. If you computer turns out not to
wotk without them I will be very surprised, and will find and send you my
unused xp (for my laptop) to you if I can find it. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

Thanks Devin and Wormwood. The files are totally deleted off the system now
and the Norton Anti-Virus is showing all is well, and set up to scan
periodically if I don't do it manually. I have it set to check
automatically for updates too. I, also, will be making certain to renew it
when it comes time to renew the program. I dont' plan on getting any more
viruses if at all possible. ____________________ "When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've
