Okay, so last night and tonight I have had problems sleeping. No, it is not
a normal thing for me. I had trouble sleeping last night because all I
dreamt about was working. I worked the entire night in my sleep and I did
not feel refreshed at all. Tonight I am not even asleep yet because of the
same thing. I keep trying to push work out of my head so I can get a
decent night of sleep but I cannot. I keep trying but I don't know what to
do that will help me with this problem. When I came home from my first
shift I had no problem falling asleep for a nap, but after working my
second, and longer, evening shift I cannot sleep. My brain is stuck in
work mode and I don't know how to fix it. I have worked shifts like this
at Azteca before (that is the mexican restaurant where I work) but I didn't
have this issue. Now for some reason I do. I keep trying and trying to
sleep, and I even end up crying because of it and keeping my bed mate
awake. I had to go into the other room so that I didn't keep him awake all
night. I have to work again in the morning at 11:15 and I think I have to
get up at 7:30. That really sucks because it is already after midnight and
I feel exhausted yet I cannot sleep. I will be a train wreck in the
morning for sure. Friday I work an even longer shift. Instead of getting
a 3-4 hr break inbetween shifts I get 2 hrs. That is time for me to come
home, eat something, talk to people a little bit, and go back. I don't
understand how some of the people who work there do it. Are they
brainwashed at that Chispa meeting they wanted me to go to or what? Chispa
is sort of like being cheerful I guess in spanish. They wanted me to go to
a meeting to learn how to be completely spunky and cheerful on my job at
all times. They don't let you leave until you get it right. I didn't go
because it was too far away for me to go on my first bus ride by myself.
There is one woman there who has been working there for 22 years. She has
such experience in customer service that I can't believe she would settle
for that when she could easily get a job as a waitress in a higher end
higher paying restaurant or even get a management position when she has
kids. She has a few kids to take care of and she sticks with the company.
I swore they put MSG's in their food, now I think they brainwash their
workers. McDonald's did for years. Why put it past another company that
is sort of big in the Northwest but too small for the whole world to know
about?
If anyone has any information on getting to work with a temp service that
has a branch in Washington and in Hawaii please let me know. It would be
best for me to get a temp job here with a temp service who has a branch in
both locations in case of a move soon. I cannot continue to work at this
place. I can't eat meals there that are free because they have so much
lard in their beans and rice and I can't have the dairy either. I get the
food without dairy, and I could get no beans and rice, but then there isn't
much left for me to eat. I can not afford to pay them for every meal and I
don't have enough time to go to the teryaki place next door because my
breaks are only 15 minutes. I got really sick from eating at work tonight
and I bought food.
I could really use some support and some major help. I am so upset, I
cannot stand this anymore. Help please!
Oh, also, my general manager is an asshole. He acts like I am an idiot and
he tells me first when there is something wrong like I did it and blames me
for everything. I swear it feels like I am being put out like there is
some reason he has chosen me for his scape goat. Why doesn't he tell the
other hosts or hostess when there is a problem or when he wants them to
organize the front desk? Why is it he singles me out for jobs like that
and tells me to clean the windows when there is another person right there?
And, there is a salty guy there who just wont leave me the fuck alone. He
keeps bothering me and made fun of me for burning my fingers and saying the
griddle is hot when I have to flip tortillas by hand for to-go orders. I
talked with the assistant manager lightly about it and she told him to stop
bothering me when he started to earlier tonight, but I dont' think he took
it seriously because he kept pestering me. He tells me to smile, he tries
to get my attention for no reason when I am trying to work. He realizes I
have work to do, and I have told him not to mock me and to stop bothering
me, but he doesn't take a hint. Who should I turn to? I can't turn to my
general manager because I don't feel he will take me seriously and I don't
want that guy to bug me and cause me more tension at work by telling
someone about him bothering me.
Also, my math skills aren't that up to par, and it is difficult for me to
give customers change sometimes when I don't have a calculator and my GM
told me that I need to get that fixed or they'll have to find another job
for me or something. He told me that a week ago and told me that I had 2
weeks to take care of the problem. He said he doesn't really know how to
help me. They aren't very good on sticking with their word sometimes
though. Irresponsible management is not good.
HELP! (yes, I really do need it)

I've given you info on a few temp agencies but I can give them to you
again. If you are limiting yourself only wanting to work for a temp agency
that has a branch in hawaii then your going to be stuck at Azteca. I'm sure
there are some temp agencies out there someplace but it is a temp agency.
They will most likely send you on temp assignments that are a week here or
a few days there. You won't need to "transfer". Working for temp agencies
isn't like working for a company with branches. Try not to limit yourself
when disperate to get out of a situation.
If you would like I can send you the temp agencies info again.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I take it you never heard back
from lovers package?

Sadly no. Also, I figure temp agency jobs will look better on a resume too.
A friend of mine suggested I find a temp agency with a branch over there
and over here. I saw that Randstad and Manpower have branches. I'll look
through my e-mail archives and see if I still have all of that info.
Oh, and I still need help with putting together a resume. I don't have
one.

while and I was hoping to get to sleep early tonight. Let me know which
works best for you.

think that's what we're looking for. I think what we're looking for is
the
Kiddo, I would either find another restaurant or get out of it alltogether
if you really really don't like it. Try Red Robin, and tho they have to be
spunky, it's not brainwashed spunky and they don't give you pre programmed
greetings. Inbound customer service centers are almost always hiring, and
pay well during training, and really there is nobody to bug you but
customers as you're tied to a phone all day, and the larger the company the
more the management minds it's p's and q's.
As for dear old salty, I've worked with a few of those in restaurants (why
do they always seem to gravitate to cook work?), but I had the advantage of
being a cook as well, and in the kitchen the shit can really fly without
anyone being none the wiser. When the customers can't hear you it's easier
to be rude. I had this cross-eyed ADHD motorcycle riding ponytail hornball
on my nuts for MONTHS when I was a cook. He asked me out on a date (he
was 45 mind you) for the umpteenthzillionth time and made a pass (I was 17)
and I'll tell you one thing sister, nothing puts ice on a man's unwanted
hormones quicker than turning on him with bloody clothes and a bloody knife
and telling him that if he didn't get off your nuts you were gonna cut his
off, and you didn't have a problem doing that cuz you're 17 and your record
is wiped clean in 6 months anyway.
However, you're a waitress unfortunately, and don't have the privacy of the
kitchen. Every time he gives you shit, flip it right back twice as bad, or
get the other cooks on your side and they'll take care of it for you. It
would be supremely funny if every time he laughed that you burned your
fingers if you threw the damned tortilla at his face, but that'd probably
get you fired and we don't want that. Stick to your guns and let him have
it, he'll get the hint soon enough.

I can tell you a assload of stories about rude/discusting/sexist/cruel
people that work in kitchens, but im sure you dont want to hear it. the
best thing i can tell you, is that you should get yourself out. if it
strikes you that your not happy to be there, chances are its just going to
get worse down the road. it did for me. And sister, it aint worth the
stress.
your better than that.

It is like what I do. Answer calls doing customer support or technical
support. Depends on the position.

Well I can't solve your problems, but I may be able to help with the sleep
aspect of things: I don't know how readily you can get hold of fresh herbs
or oils etc., so I've given you a list of options to choose from. Choose
whatever is easiest for you, although it may not be the most effective
method. For a good night's sleep, and to relieve some of your anxiety while
you're at it, I recommend:
-A sprig of fresh Agrimony under your pillow (refresh it every night), if
that doesn't work you could try adding a sprig of Birch too, but its
supposed to be the very best thing for sleep
-Either wear as a necklace, place under your pillow or near your bed a
piece of Amethyst (try and cleanse it first).
-Chamomile is a simple solution, but not always as effective as others, I'd
try it first if I were you.
-If you can get hold of some White Chestnut wood you could try burning
that, either directly or in incense etc.
-Corydalis is pretty good with sleep, if you can get hold of some fresh
leaves you could mix them up in an incense with a couple of the other
ingredients I've mentioned, like Birch, White Chestnut etc.
-Hops are good, (no, don't go out and get sloshed) in a tea maybe, or a
dried sprig under your pillow,
-Lavender candles might work, they're pretty easy to get hold of too,
-Equal amounts of dried, crushed Linden and Lavender flowers placed in a
sachet and slipped inside your pillow is a good idea if you have the
time,
-Burning Rose petals can never be too far wrong, I'd try that if you can
get incense or something,
-If you can get some Valerian oil put a bit in a bath you have about 30
minutes before you go to bed,
-Vetivert is a great herb for sleep and rejuvenation, add it to any of the
mixtures I've suggested to give them a little bit extra,
-Theres a thing you can do to make a skull cap out of Violet petals, you
wear it when you go to bed, but I find it is a little to delicate, but you
can try it if you can work out how to make one,
-Wild Thyme under your pillow, not as good as Agrimony, but it might
work,
-If you're any good at mixing oils yourself go for a mixture of 2pt
Bergamot, 3pt Jasmine and 5pt Lavender, it doesn't really matter what you
use as the base,
-Mixing Clove, Mint and Rose in incense might be a good bet too.
I hope one of these remedies helps and that I haven't reached you too late.
Get well very soon, I hope.
Blessed Be.

You know I tried that, and it knocked me right out, but it made me so
stupid and groggy the next day it wasn't worth it. I know it's not
supposed to do that, but man would it kick my butt. I even tried taking
half a tablet, and it didn't put me out, so I took a whole one and had the
same "idiot" effect the next day.

I also found a recipie for lavendar tea. It said about 3 cups will help
lots. Mix 2-3 cups of water with a table spoon of dried lavendar flower.
Boil, steep, drain, drink.

retarded animal babies...hehe
Well here is an update. I went downtown today to a temp service and had an
interview and took their tests and now I have to apply to some more temp
agencies (I went and got info from others in the building and I sent my
resume to a few when I got home). I need to work a bit on my microsoft
word skills, but I am going to call every monday morning at 8 am for work.
I need to quit this job. The waitress who has been working at Azteca for
22 years hates his ever soul sucking everything. Haha, I knew she wasn't
totally nutso. Yay! Thanks for coming and visitng me at work Rayce and
Devin. Tell the kiddo thanks too.

I try several different things depending on how badly I really need to
sleep. The chamomile tea works really well for me at times, (it also helps
calm the intestines if they are rumbling from dairy products, etc.) and a
lavendar bath will help relax me too. If I'm really disorganized mentally
from all the assorted b.s. at work, etc., then meditation will sometimes
help get me into a more relaxed state. Of course there are the otc remedies
with antihistamines as sleep-aids, but those don't necessarily help me to
actually sleep better...just to sleep...so I usually don't bother with them
all that much for sleep aids. If I'm really keyed up and need to get
organized, sometimes playing a puzzle game online will help get me off
running through endless scenarios of whatever I don't want to be thinking
of.

Three cups of lavender tea, MRD? That might put someone to sleep, but I
would think they would end up wetting the bed!
