Oh. God. Not another "I put no effort into my post and you didn't care
for it so that means you hate me" type. Pardon my PMS-ing, but back in the
day, Feral's comment would have been a love pat. Personally, I long for
that day. We were merciless; when did we learn fucking mercy? Maybe it
was when some people who were just cool enough to be on the borderline
decided to get all sorry for everyone who wasn't being "given a chance".
Fuck giving people chances. This is your chance, right here. So you
posted a dumb joke and got a little flamed. Sure, you could have posted
something worth reading for your first post, but oh well too late for that.
Now you can show your stuff by letting us see how cool you are at
surprizing us at how cool you are.
But personally, I don't care. I am sick sick sick sick sick sick of all
the watered down mush that passes as readable material that DOESN'T BELONG
ON SHMENG WEBSPACE. And I'm sicker of being made to feel guilty about
using an otherwise blah forum to vent myself. THIS IS WHAT WE FOUNDED
SHMENG ON, PEOPLE!!! Remember? Remember? This and our own mind (and
other portions of the anatomy) stimulating conversations, and awesome pics!
Shmeng has never EVER been about coddling the clueless! I have to do that
ALL FUCKING DAY LONG dealing with retarded old ladies in a fucking clean
room assembly line, trying not to let the poor darlings know how abysmally
stupid I think they are! Eight hours a day, five days a week, and five
more hours on Saturdays ALL THE FUCKING TIME! And then I come home and
take care of a two-year-old! I don't come to Shmeng to tiptoe around more
noisy idiots and incontintinent toddlers! I expect more from Shmeng, and
I'm going to fucking get it if I have to stage a one woman protest!
But come on, people? Devin? Callei? Bettie? Feral? Everyone? Don't
tell me you've all become too civilized and timid to mock the clueless?
Well I know Feral isn't, and Callei has her multiposts, but I must say I
long for a drunken rant from my girl Bettie, ripping into some poor
helpless fool! Where is our ruthlessness? Our fearlessness? Our joy of
the battle?
THIS is what we have sighed our hearts over. THIS is what we have written
heart-rending articles over. The hijacking of our beloved community by the
blah and clueless. It's not the trolls, it's the boring and lifeless that
are our enemy.
I say, contribute something worth seeing, or shut up. And if you waste our

Feral: My mistake, I misunderstood your objection. Hmm..I only really know
one joke I think is particularly good...I wouldn't call it a Goth joke, but
it's a bit more of a story. I'll post it in a few.

you know what really bugs me about most of this? I would have less problems
with cluelessness if they at least read the site enough to know that I am

Feral, darling, I DID admit that you aren't among those who have become,
how did I put it, too civilized and timid. But just one or two of us
posting our objections won't do much. Everyone just thinks "oh, that's
Feral roaring again, what a personality", and then go on, neglecting to do
their OWN roaring, so that these twits understand that it's the WEBSITE who
doesn't want them, not just a couple cranky bastards!
I am no longer PMS-ing, I did not work with idiots this morning, instead I
had a nice, overdue sleep-in, my daughter is going to a babysitter, I am
going to a concert this evening, on Monday the worst of the retarded old
ladies from work will be on vacation, and Shmeng is back, so I am in a
WONDERFUL mood, and I STILL feel like breathing fire on all these idiots
who somehow worm their way into Shmeng!
The problem is, we write all these articles and posts about how we hate
what's happening to Shmeng, and yet we KNOW what, and WHO the problem is!
We just, for some reason, don't bother to take action, maybe because we're
afraid of being told not to pick on people. WHY!!! They're picking on us,
and they don't even have the excuse of having an awesome website to protect
(or even the reason that what they're doing is fucking fun as HELL!)
And I am as guilty as the rest.
So... I'm going to grit my teeth and do what everyone has been wishing
someone would do for quite some time now.
Everyone remembers the famed "Newbi" forum, right? I have cause to
remember it, since I ended up writing a post, trying to describe how one
"newbi" turned into a member of the Pantheon, and it got turned into an
article without even trying.
Well, I got a lot of praise from Fairy of Darkness, who created that
notorious forum, and she told me alot of times, there and otherwise, how
very very cool I am. And you know what, fuck that. I don't care if you
think I'm "cool". I didn't write the article for "coolness" points, I
wrote it to MAKE a point, a point that FOD has consistently ignored. The
point is, contribute something worth reading, and you will be accepted
readily. Contribute worthless drivel, and you will be pounded into the
ground.
The thing is, somehow, we let FOD continue past her trial of fire without
ever contributing ANYTHING but meaningless cutesy blahness. WHY!!! So she
could come along and call Feral's serious and much needed objections
"funny"??? They were not funny, they were intelligent, and to the point,
and a lot of other people should have joined in.
Fairy of Darkness, this website is not your little personal playground, and
we the members are not here for your amusement. We are not here to train
you, we are not here for your benefit, unless you are here for ours. You
are not contributing anything, and you are annoying people who ARE
contributing much of value. Don't for a moment think that you are "not a
newbi". I shudder when I see your name on a post, because I know that lack
of substance is ahead. And often, what's more, just plain irritating
attempts to be cute. But you're not cute. You're annoying, more like a
mosquito of darkness than a fairy.
If you have something to contribute, then contribute it. If you can prove
me wrong, then prove me wrong. I welcome that. I LOVE new people coming
to Shmeng and surpising us with something really incredible! I.E. Eye
Candy Rayce, Daria, and others of their like. If you have it, show it. If
you don't, then I suppose you'll just get your feelings hurt and try to
court sympathy from those with softer hearts than mine. I suppose you
could also just learn from this experience, and next time NOT try to worm
your way into a community by blithely ignoring how irritated everyone is by
you. If you did not get the point in your atrocious "newbi" forum, then
get it now. The only reason we stopped telling you how annoyed we were by
you was NOT because you stopped being annoying, but because we got tired of
telling you and being ignored.
So go away in a snit. Yeah. We care. Really. We're big meanies who like
to pick on new people. Just for the fun of it. We should give you a
chance. Yeah. Right.
Now I guess I have to wait for everyone to tell me how I shouldn't have
been so hard on her, right? Mostly you people who don't even know that
Gothic Enlightenment is not just another forum label to go under, like
Pseudo-Intellectual Fuckwits. Don't get me wrong - I don't care if you
haven't been around as long as I have. There are tons of people who
haven't been there in the old days who I have the greatest respect for.
But, at the same time, you can't know what it was like then. Even if you
could read the records (where are the records, anyway? Do they still
exist?) it would not be the same. Some of us experienced them. We WROTE
the records, and we MISS those days. And in those days, we didn't pull
punches and we didn't run daycares. And we hurt some precious feelings,
too.
When it comes to a choice between saving some clueless feelings, and
restoring the potency of Shmeng, I will choose Shmeng any day. If only
because it is a damn sight more fun. ____________________

Shiz, my only excuse for being so "soft" on the clueless is that there are
now so fucking many of them that I would have to spend all day everyday
bashing the little shits to even keep up. Well that and i try to avoid the
noise in the forums, since they have always been the home of the 14.8s, the
clueless and Ironboots stomping on them. (i read those bits, woohoo!)
I confess, it has been months since the last time i told some blithering
reptile to go eat it's own socks and leave this site alone. For punishment,
Mistress of Punishments willing, I will go read the slush pile, where I
KNOW there are at least 2 submissions that are journal entries (and badly
spelled) and at least two whiney peices of crap.
btw I love your PMS. and yes the hard drive died because it was being fed
too much crap from "newbis'. ____________________

My hope is that the clueless got discouraged because they couldn't get on
Shmeng for so long, and maybe they'll never come back. But I'm not
counting on it.
I understand, Callei, and I know the feeling. If FOD is a mosquito, then
she's just one of a whole swarm, and it's a huge task to try and go swat
them all.
The forums used to be the heart and soul of Shmeng. The articles were
great, but I remember hitting the refresh button over and over and over
again to see if there were any new exciting posts. I never do that
anymore. I say, let's reclaim the forums. They're ours, after all. Let's
remember that idiots and trolls are there for our personal amusement.
Shmeng wouldn't be Shmeng without them - as long as they are properly
roasted, and not allowed to go wandering around pretending that they
actually are one of us.
On which note - my darling Enter - Emo's piss me off, too. So do Emu's.
Actually, they don't. Who gives a flying shit what anyone's personal style
or taste in music is, anyway? All that means is that I won't meet them at
the same clothing stores, or lend them my CD's.
Goth's piss me off. Metalheads piss me off. Preppies piss me off. Jocks
piss me off. White people piss me off and black people and gays and
straights and people with curly hair and people with straight hair.
You know what? People suck, except a very few that seem to have gotten
beyond mere herd-like humanity. And you know what? Some of those few
maybe listen to Simple Plan or other of those bands that I personally find
atrocious. So what? We all have our little hang-ups.
The question is not if you wasted your first post, but that you are wasting
our time and webspace. Perhaps maybe your life, too? Who knows. But it
amuses me to jump to conclusions. If you can jump to the conclusion that
someone who listens to "emo" pisses you off, then I can jump to the
conclusion that someone who makes a post like that is a blathering idiot
and cannon-fodder. Jumping to conclusions is such good mental exercise
that you must be the Arnold Schwartzenegger of the mind.
What on earth is the difference between Mr. Enter here assuming that all
emo's are worthy to be pissed off at, and BillGates assuming that all goths
are sad and depressed and suicidal and in need of salvation? Oh, Enter,
you don't know who BillGates is? Maybe you should study up a little. With
a little work, you might manage to be BillGates's Mini-Me. Just keep

Isn't fairy of darkness the one who posted in the shout box how she wasn't
going to say anything until someone responded to her, and then five days
later came back and bitched at everyone for driving her away and not
recognizing her briliance.
And what does everyone have against Elmo. Yeah, he's red, he's furry, and
he likes to be tickled, but lay off the littlle freak. People are entitled
to their kinky fetishes whatever they may be. I mean, in days gone by there
were people here who thought this was a goth site, for heavans sake.

Having new members is not the problem, is the enourmous number of new
trolls that are being treated like members that are the problem. There
seems to be a lack of concern since they are only trashing the forums with
their pointless drivel and not being taken down in multiposts as
frequently because, dammit, and let me defend Callei here, she simply
doesn't have enough time to make that much bullshit into creative drivel to
be slammed. Callei's weaving of the multiposts is a magick, that
unfortunately is being outpaced, and burnt out by the crap that is coming
in.
And, yes, I say crap. I mean, serioulsy, that last article by Zero,
Reality Bites, that was just a piece of warmed over horseshit reminiscent
of the jennifer lopez thread. Who cares. Why is this assholic unneccasry
garbage being cast in when we have qualitiy pieces like Schizo ""Änatomoy
of a Human sore" or Bettie X's interesting and enligthening "Bat Watching"
which to date has had only one response.
I mean, it not like the trolls are destroying the site through their
quallity input here. We need to fight back and submit decent articles, and
good forum threads.
And I know I've been lax, but in my defense I spent the last two weeks on a
deserted isle.

I'm tired. I was going to say something along the lines of callei, but she
beat me to the punch. I could flame the fuck out of something that is

members of the noisy idiot clique, and honestly, I don't have any desire to
