and a friend of mine saw a gator in the sewers... until I see it... I am
unimpressed... and I believe respect should be shown to all here...

Cygnet, You mention your legs in relation to your shaved legs in an email.
oh what a turn on.
You scare me more than Feral.
"one can show a)seriousness, b)respect and c) courtesy while still not
showing reverence... " If you met me, you'd understand.
Feral, tell us, how often do you shave your legs?
I know you do, so you can attract bisexual girls, perhaps so they can model
for you.
Tell me.. Do you expose your legs before or after the photo shoot?
I can imagine Feral sitting there in his studio, surrounded by his
models..like that blonde girl in the movie basic instinct.. uncrossing your
legs. *urgh*
God no!! Spare me of that perverted insight into Ferals reality.. oh lord,
please!! *gestures franticly with his left hand while covering his eyes
with the other*

Cygnet- "Shmooth" is kind of a parody of someone making an effort to be
smooth.

I'll just sit back and see what happens. If Shmooth proves himself, he
will...if not, that's how things go.

I not sure how to ask this question....but I'm new so I have no choice
but to ask.
I woud just like to know how we noobys can tell whether we're welcomed or
whether we're twits that everyone wants to get rid of???...Or is there some
ritual hazing that noobys go through before they are truly excepted????

here's the thing... those that are not welcome at all, tend to be too
stupid to see it... Regardless... it is a harsh learning curve... you
either learn to behave or end up only being able to post in the karma free
zone... most fuckwits are told off though.. normally in private...

Shmooth, thank you for calling me an excellent teacher. And I would be far
less than excellent if I let this pass.
Shmooth, you are digging your own grave. And while I may be able to go out
of my own way to help you out of it, if it just ends up annoying and
irritating people that, frankly, I care more about than you, I'm not going
to do it.
I felt you got off on the wrong foot, and maybe with a second chance you
might be better able to show your true personality. I saw something in
you, somthing that might be worth having around. I still think it exists,
but I am starting to question whether it's worth all the hassle.
You are an incontinent, toothless puppy. And while I might put up with the
puddles and piles on my carpet and the gnawings on my hand, I certainly
don't expect my friends to put up with it also. This is not my website.
If you make enemies, there is only a certain amount I can do for you, and
honestly, I think I've already done that.
You say you won't change who you are. That's where you are foolish. We
all change and evolve, or else go extinct. We must adapt to our
environment if we are to survive. We learn what behaviors work and what
does not. We learn to curb impulses that need to be curbed, and release
those that need to be released. We encourage ourselves to develop healthy
habits and drop unhealthy ones.
Is it not obvious to you that you had a potential ally in Feral? Could you
not see that his favor, once lost, is not easy to regain? Can't you tell
that he is someone who is strong and wise and could be of benefit to you?
And didn't you know that he was willing to give you a second chance?
But you just had to be you, and it seems, deliberately pushed the limits of
someone who was taking a chance on you.
Well, if it's really more important to you to be "you", then be you and
take the consequences.
This isn't your face-to-face world, this is the internet. I don't care how
well it all works face-to-face. It doesn't work here. This is my last
lesson for you, Shmooth. Either adapt, or go extinct. It's called growing
up. This may be the time for it.
I'm not going to lose friends over you.
And Feral, I know you tried. I tried too. Damn it, I thought he had
learned something. I know you saw it, I saw it, but it seems that, though
he may be a diamond in the rough, that diamond is planted squarely in a
huge manure pile. If he does not clean up the manure himself, I am afraid
that we will search elsewhere for diamonds. And I'm sorry for encouraging
people to bear with the stink.
Damn it, there IS a diamond there, I SAW it! Why do people with diamonds
have to have manure piles?

Look, I never di much to help the situation with shmooth. He pissed me off
a lot, and in general, I don't put up with whinning twits, especially on a
site I love so much. Shmeng IS my friends, and it IS my sanctuary. So when
people of his ilk come along, I have a tendency to attack, or more
precisely, defend.I also apreciate that people want to give him a second
chance; I respect that. It goes to show the kind of love and understanding
that can be found here. But lets be realsitic; there may be a diamond in
there, but I'm not about to strip mine an entire state to find it. He is
not going to adjust his way of acting for us. He will apolgize, but apology
and words and cheap. HE doesn't show he cares, even after the half hearted
woopsy daisies. So I say screw it. As I've said in the past, sometimes you
get kicked in the teeth so many times, you stop wanting to smile. He isn't
a very, oh hell I'll say it, he isn't a very good person. I see that, and
maybe I am blind to the good qualities, but what the hell. The bad has a
tendency to shadow the good, in actions in speech, and in my opinion. I
don't want to see him, EVER, EVER, EVER posting articles and being chummy
with Feral or Callei or Bettie-x, or Mono. It would be like seeing them
chilling with a god damned exiled Nazi. MAybe I am very wrong, and very
mistaken, but I trust my gut. So I'm goign to eat, and i'm going to never
acept shmooth. Ever. Sorry guys, I can't.

I understand.
This was a lesson.
I care about people, so I leave.
Don't waste your time wondering if you were wrong.

Damn it, this whole thing makes me feel like shit. I was wrong... and I
was right too! And I can't decide which more. I feel bad for Feral, for
convincing him to give Shmooth a second chance and then having all that
unwelcome god-knows-what tossed at him. And I feel bad for Shmooth,
because I think he really does value Shmeng and all of us here, he just
doesn't know how to behave. And I just plain feel bad, because I really
hoped I could do something, and I thought I had. I really thought he
understood that he couldn't just do exactly the same thing that got him in
trouble the first time.
Oh well. I believe mainly in giving someone a chance to show good faith
before throwing them out. But somehow, this still doesn't sit right.
Maybe because he really didn't bother me, just people who mean something to
me. I wouldn't have minded keeping him around if he wasn't annoying my
friends. And to throw all that at Feral, and at that time, too.
But somehow, his leaving makes me sadder. If he really HAD been a troll,
he wouldn't have left. He would have kept bothering people.
It makes me sad, because I used to bother people I liked. And I grew up.
And I could have used an owner to help me.
I guess Callei was right. I guess I don't have the time to take care of a
pet. It's depressing. All the more because I can't even have a "real"
pet. I had a cat, and I couldn't take care of it, and I had to give it
away, and then it ran out into the road and got killed. And I feel guilty
for that, and this, and I don't know. I guess I'm just guilt-tripping
about pet-ownership in general.
Damn.

Schizo: *nods quietly* I understand how you feel. and I thank you for your
kind words... I am more flattered than I can say by the fact that I am
viewed that way, as your opinion means a great deal to me...

Feral, it's funny, because we don't often interact here. You say your
thing, and I read it, and probably vice versa.
I've developed a huge respect for you, both as an artist and a person.
You've obviously been through some rough shit in your life, and it's made
you a strong person. And a wise person. But not exactly a patient person.
Which is why I was blown away when you gave Shmooth another chance at my
advice.
And then to hear him turn around and write what he did made me angry. You
have enough to deal with without that.
I think the flattery goes both ways. I know your good opinion needs to be
earned, and to have you put my regard on that level speaks volumes to
me.
You are one of those people who I hope to meet at the Shmengfest. I think
I have much to learn from you. Perhaps it's the Romany heritage, but
there's something that runs deep and quiet in you that I would like to know
more about.
Anyway, I am honored that you are honored!

So Shmooth is actually gone....I'm sorry to hear that.....Schizo, I'm
sorry it didn't work out.....I would say there should be a section called
"getting to know the nooby" .......just so that maybe everyone can have a
better understanding of the people who're walking into this
house....Although I don't beleive Shmeng really needs it because people
here are willing to listen and try to understand each other....If shmooth
failed to be a part of this family then that's his fault, it's not yours or
anyone elses here....you either evolve, grow and change for the
better.....not at all and become stuck in your own crap...maybe somehow
you've sent him on his path to descovering that....the fact that he left
shows that he recognizes that he just didn't come across the way he meant
to.
oh well, i'm tired of being serious....Brain.....hurts....owwww.....blah,
blah, blah....

Schizo, you did the best you could with what you were given. And I think
you did better than anyone else could have. You were patient and firm and
tried to give Shmooth another chance. I think the problem here is that he
took your sponsership as a free ticket to run. And when you attempted to
correct him again, he decided to quit instead of learn. I kind of wonder if
he didn't plan on leaving in the first place. That whole little line about
leaving because he cares smacks of wannabe martyrdom.
You weren't wrong about Shmooth, there was potential there. But
instead of growing into that potential himself, he seemed willing to leave
it up to other people to push him into it.
You've earned a day off with brownies and champagne.
