I just don't belong in this job. I'm a geek, not a secretary! I build
computers, I did technical support, I fix problems with people's OS and
networks. I don't answer phones and sort mail!! But yet here I am, sitting
at a desk by the front door of a wholesale electronics sales center. I
answer the phone, I sign for packages and I smile a whole fucking lot.
The economy has put me back to doing a job I hated doing. I moved to
Seattle to get closer to technology 4 years ago and now I'm doing the work
I left Oklahoma to get away from. The same brainless, mind numbing
experience from monday to friday 8-5. I browse the web and read books. I
have no job duties besides answering phones and sorting mail. I'm chained
to a desk with NOTHING TO DO!
Don't get me wrong. It is a great place to work. I live 10 minutes away.
People are generally friendly. They don't care if I sit here making this
post, reading the most current findings at space.com, studying Seattle
history or even writing on the book that will take place during the 1880's
in Seattle. I'm just sooooo bored.
Oh yes.... watch me rant. I have all the time in the world to do it.

Look at it this way.....you're a mother, a very good artist....and you
look great in leather....
.........even Superman had a day job.

Now if I just had x-ray vision and run faster than a bullet I would have it
made!

I think X-ray vision and speed is all that's left for you to
master....
........sometimes you just got to be Clark Kent for awhile.
(I've got to stop reading comics for awhile...they're ruling my life)

Sometimes life is really boring. I hate it too sometimes. I hope though
you did get a job that you truly love some day.

Rayce, look at it this way: you get to read, surf the web, and work on your
novel, all while getting a paycheck. The job may be
boring, but hey, at least you get to do fun stuff while you're waiting for
action. I'm not even supposed to be on the internet in my job, unless it's
for healthcare purposes. Believe me, I've learned a lot about health and
medicine these days. *evil grin*
My job is boring as fuck and mundane a lot of the time, and, if I fuck up
and nobody catches it, I run the risk of killing someone. Always a
pleasant sword of Damocles hanging over my head. Otherwise, I'm supposed
to bust my ass for these people, some of whom make me do stuff for them
when I'm swamped and they've got exactly jack shit going on, I'm supposed
to answer phones, do paperwork, and play tour guide, all with a fucking
smile plastered on my face.
You have my absolute sympathy, hon. Maybe we should form a union of
disgruntled secretaries. *chuckles*
