These are my interpretations of the Candidates Platforms and Policies.
Wesley Clark
First Tax Reform…
This would basically attempt to elevate the middle and working class,
giving tax cuts to poorer families and middle class while the upper ends
have more to spare, they will spare more. Basically, the rich will finally
be paying taxes in accordance to what they earn. If passed, this would help
to elevate the lower classes and raise them above poverty. And as far as I
can understand it, however a family of 4 making a total of 50,000 a year
will be paying no income tax…. (give me a family of four if this goes
through.)
The deficit of giving the tax breaks to the poor will be offset by the
loopholes of big corporations and by giving a percentage point more of
taxes to those who make over 1 million dollars a year. Basically having the
rich help out instead of getting more. (these extra taxes would only be
used for this purpose, no new spending would incur from this.)
He is also trying to get minimum wage increased to 7 dollars an hour.
However one of the downsides to this is that the cost of living will go up
as well, because essentially when the companies have to pay more to
employees they will see the need to raise costs of products to offset the
losses on wages.

Wes Clark’s Plan
Streamlining Government to cut wastes and spending so that “On defense, Wes
Clark supports every dime needed to keep America strong, but he won't
tolerate billions of dollars in waste or inefficiency just because it has a
military label on it.” (I enjoy that quote)
He would also get back the tax breaks bush gave the richer families in
2001.
There was also a short mention about correcting the problem of uninsured
children and crumbling schools, but the way it was stated in this add it
seems as though it was more thrown in to look good as a “protect our
children and education” to ply for that vote.
Also there was mention of making the Medicare plan a bit more honest in the
sense of instead of having medicare pay way overprice for the medicine
there would be going rates for acquisition costs on the medicine but still
leave the doctors a wide range to prescribe the correct medicine for the
patients.
There is also mention on how company health policies for elderly workers
are passing along the costs that should be covered by these plans to
medicare whereas this depletes the funds more quickly and keeps those who
need it more from getting what they need. Thus the plan calls for better
enforcement of the policies.
Also he plans on reducing the market barrier for generic drugs. So that
they can become readily available on the market at cheaper prices.
(Not to mention his plan on shortening the Iraq conflict and actually
rebuilding the place however, also getting allies to help cover the
costs)

As for the education plan…. And where does the money for this come
exactly?
Once again, Big Promises,,,,.. but little follow through
http://www.clark04.com/issues/education/
And yet again, Universal Preschool, All this money, but where would it come
from precicely. There is previous talk in the overall economic plan of how
cuts would be done from other branches of the government, but there should
be the consideration that there is still a debit to be hacked at first that
bush has put us into. Then, after we have climbed out of that hole, we
could consider broadening to preschool. However, in most cases, preschool
is not worth it… it is mostly a glorified daycare… But you never know..
The plan can be found here
http://www.clark04.com/issues/preschool/
Wow, there is even a plan for the government to get a hand into the arts
and art programs. .. Hopefully this improvement would not become a
backtrack where they would monitor and get rid of what they did not like…
Check it out, parts are pretty hypocrytical.
Mostly this part here in the last paragraph…. Whether it is art or not is
an opinion… yet it is a greater opinion on what we can put into our public…
:le sigh:
“Unfortunately, during subsequent decades, this high-minded mission has
been dissipated, as the discussions of what constitutes art have become
divisive arguments.”
http://www.clark04.com/issues/arts/
He is pro-choice and wishes to protect womens rights and their power to
choose.
Also there is a little portion in here about electing and finding good and
honest judges from diverse backgrounds…
http://www.clark04.com/issues/equalpay/
He also shows bits of pacifism and peace in his 10 pledges. Force only when
there is no other route/ only as a last resort. And also finding a
realistic plan for victory instead of the Bush plan of… just get em’…
He also states that he will not question the patriotism of someone for
questioning his policies unlike Bush who ,,, case in point… Look up Duke
University.
However, under his overall economic plan he states budget cuts for the
military yet in the 10 pledges he goes partially against this by stating
that he would be getting the military everything they need and want… now,
could this be a contradiction or still the budget cuts but only giving the
military enough for what they need to protect fairly without the billions
of expanding the budget just for the military?
Also he seems to be playing the “I will get the terrorists” card in the 10
pledges as well as saying he would try to be peaceful. By stating that he
would hunt them down wherever they would be, is sort of offset by the
previous point that he mentions he would use force as a last alternative…..

The Al Quada plan,,
Draw your own conclusions from this one…

All of the above issues are in here and also many others, but now it is
time to find some different sources and delve more into the cons and pros
from others in our country….

also here is a little clipping on Wesley Clark over the death penalty that
I received in my E-mail from the Peace Works news.
Wesley Clark General Clark supports the death penalty, but has concerns
about the fairness of the system. He has stated that he “doesn’t like the
way the death penalty has been applied in America. [He] think it’s been
applied in an unfair and discriminatory fashion.” Overall, believes, “…the
death penalty should be available for the most heinous crimes. At the same
time, I am concerned about reports of mistakes on death row, and errors and
unfairness in our criminal justice system. The death penalty is too often
applied in a discriminatory and uneven way. If we are to carry out the
ultimate penalty, it must be with the ultimate safeguards.” Innocence/DNA:
Has called for reviewing all cases to see if death sentences were wrongly
applied, but has not taken a position on the Innocence Protection Act of
2003. Juvenile: Has not taken a position on the death penalty for
juveniles. Moratorium: Initially supported a moratorium on executions but
now opposes a moratorium.
Clark wishy washy on the war and antiwar sentiments… doing this to please
voters?
This is a news article where it analyses this and also whether or not he
targeted civilians during a Yugoslavian bombing. This is from Common Dreams
News Center.

This little bit is interesting with the comparison of kosovo to Iraq …
Couldn’t find the original document though.

Well in anycase, this is a bit of information on one of the presidential
nominees.
I still have more research to go, more candidates to analyze and
eventually, the decision on who to vote for.
I hope that I have helped some others out with this.

Greetings BlueLinn,
I happen to like Wesley Clark. And yes, I am glad that you are doing
research on every candidate out there. I've done a lot of research myself.
Being a moderate Republican, I happen to appreciate Clark's moderacy in
some parts for I get turned off by extremists, both right and left
sided...also if you ask me, he is the only one that I think who has the
best chance to beat Bush...for he has the interest of a lot of Republicans
as well as some moderate Democrats (of course a few die-hards too, seeing
Michael Moore on the train). Granted, he is not perfect, but no one is.
For every single flaw someone points on Clark, I probably can name two more
waiting for whatever candidate they support.
As far as the "wishy-washy" thing, there is another source I'd like you to
check out as well. I'm confident that it will clear out -some-
things...and you can even do some further research on it if you want a more
neutral point. If anyone was honest, most of the Democrats were
"wishy-washy" on the war...even the front-runner John Kerry. Clark to me
was more of a person who said he supported the threat of war, but wanted
diplomacy to be tried out and more things to be done first.

I rarely support Democrats, but Clark is the only one I am willing to vote
for. People may spit at me for that opinion, but that's how I feel.
If you'd like my testimony, private message me and I'll send you the
link...it has more details on why I support him. Since I'm big on politics
as well, you are more than welcome to argue with me on my views. |
