I'm sure we've all noticed this sometime or another...you wake up from the couch after fading off from a supposed few quick moments of shut eye, still wearing your favorite ensemble... and you notice that there are all these little fuzzy things on it from say the couch or a blanket if you've had one with you. You just washed you cloths too and now you're going to have to spend another five minutes whipping them off with your wet hand.

Well, that's happened to me more than once. Fuzz shows up on black rather badly. It's difficult to keep it off, and annoying too when you get your cloths fresh from the wash.
What's the best ways to get fuzz off your cloths or prevent them from coming on?

Secondly I've noticed that even if I used Whole-lite that my cloths are fading alittle. My black cargo pants suffered the most. Hell, I've even reduced the fabric softener some by diluting it and it has made alittle impact. I want to though, restore my blacks to their blackest. Also, reds, blues, they all suffer from the wash, how do I prevent this further? I know that even if you use color safe crap your cloths will fade a tad... Any advice?
I usually use cold, light machine wash and tumble dry in the dryer.
And anyone used Whole-lite black? That work?

In order to remove the unwanted fuzz, or in my case, cat hair, I suggest buying either some masking tape, or one of those lint rollers(which basicly consist of perforated sections of masking tape with a handle). Works wonders to get rid of unwanted stuff.

I wear white, keep no pets, and rigorously enforce a horrible, taxing sleep schedule with over-the-counter drugs and shock therapy.

Speaking of keeping your blacks their blackest, how do you dye a black shirt with a printed image on it without getting dye all over the printed image?

Washing your clothes with a quarter cup of vinegar instead of detergent (the vinegar prevents dye bleeding), and hang dry them. Dryer heat is HELL on color, especially black. Be prepared to do some ironing
As for fuzzies, not much...clean your dryer vent THOROUGHLY and vaccuum/dust frequently, but there is no sure way. Get one of those rinse off squishy lint roller things, they work GREAT. It's sort of like those little squishy sticky ocopus' you'd get in cereal boxes, or those flingy sticky jelly hands, only on a roler and with an actual purpose.

Yeah, the machine dry may have been what killed the colors. I'll make sure to try that.
Ah and I'm not afraid to iron my own cloths. I taught myself how to shave, iron, wash, cook, clean etc etc etc. How about Wollite black, does that stuff really work?
Lint rollers...time for another trip to the 99cent store.
Can anyone help answer Alurgade's question? I can't.

Uhm...sorry aulgarde, I don't think that is possible. Talk to a drycleaner's place and see if they know. YOu can always just buy a nice new black shirt, cut out the image on the old one and sew it onto the new one...like a big patch.
I hate that too..you have a FAVORITE shirt and it get's all fuckity lookin' but you love the picture or design on it and there ain't shit you can do. So I cut them out and put them on other things, or turn the whole teeshirt into a pillow or something.
I"ve been thinking of taking all the shirts I can't wear anymore and making an "old tee shirt quilt"....then I would still have them, they wouldn't be taking up space, and it'd be one very...interesting...hodgepodge blanket.
But it still won't bring your teeshirts back But at least you won't have to throw them away.
I"ve heard woolite dark is amazing, but man it's such a little bottle, and if you wear mostly black (like I do) It's simply not economical.
If its for a few choice articles, it's great. But for regular laundry, you have to have a substantial laundry piggybank to use it as detergent.
Quarter cup of vinegar in your washer. Will do wonders on new darks. Even keep those really reds and blue blue blues lookin' good.
Good to know you can iron and take care of yourself....it's a good thing to be able to do!

I'm thinking of trying wollite, woolite, black, dark, etc to see how it works on some of my darks and faded darks. Also, you don't really need to use alot of Woolite for the wash, a very small amount will do.

Still I'd really like to restore some color to my faded pants. Anyone know how?
Also, where the hell can I get some black curtains for my window? The white ones in my room keep letting sun in when I'm trying to sleep, it's annoying! *incase you're wondering, when I do finally fall asleep it's usually 4-5am, I wake up around 6. Sometimes I get no sleep at all*
Vinegar works in the wash? Never heard that one...

Vinegar acts as a bleeding deterrant to keep dyes where they are...not too much, just a litte.
As for restoring color to old jeans, if you dye them back with any of the colors that RIT dyes offer that should do it. Other than vinegar, once in a while toss a packet of dye in the wash with same color clothes. It's like adding your leftover hairdye to your shampoo bottle.
As for black curtains, go to a fabric store and get some twill or heavy tight woven fabric and make your own, or go to a store. You can find black curtains, they're there, I swear. Or just tack a heavy blanket over the window. Or you can do what they do for children that they are trying to get accustomed to sleep cycles and paint your window black.

Painting my windows black requires too much effort. heh, I guess alittle searching wouldn't hurt. I don't really have much skill with a needle though so I'd probably just cough up some cash. Ack, I just hate going to stores though and buying stuff. Whenever I do buy anything for myself I feel spoiled. Even thought it's all my money from working. I'm strange.

Pick up some dye too, yeah, that may work. *doesn't dye his hair, it's always been this dark* hm, I wonder if I can get those lint rollers in bundles at the flea market...

Yeah, you can, but if you splurge on the cash, at ANY store you can get those squishy sticky "lint rollers" that you can use over and over without dealing with those stupid fucking paper crappy things that always half ass tear the bottom layer and you have to peel and peel to get it even and then you have none left and a big pile of stickies that get stuck to your garbage can.
With the pink squishy roller all you gotta do is soap and water it like those sticky octopus' or flingy hand things from the quarter machine and it's sticky again.
Find a blanket you dont' use anymore and nail it up!
or get horizontal blinds...or go buy curtains. MAKING curtains is easy...jsut a straight line from one side to the other to make the little pocket thingy that the curtain pole goes through. Have your mom do it! Be all like "Mommy, I really need help with some home decorating..."

every few months i run all my t-shirts through the wash with some rit dye and salt. the designs on the front have yet to be dyed, and my shirts are pretty damn black. I also hardly ever machine-dry my clothes. I'm not sure if that helps the color but it does keep them from getting thin

To keep the parental help issue simple, the less we talk, the better we're off. heh. I'll look for some new ones. I was forced to take sewing class back in 9th grade and I could barely make a fuzzed stuffed bat...hmm, I wonder where my fuzz stuffed bat is at?

Just wondering...why use salt in the wash duckie?

I live in a house with three snow white cats and an all white alaskan sled dog that sheds monthly, and I keep my black blackest, by moving out. I hate it!!!!! My blacks shirts, ruined. My velvet coat, detroyed. My all black suit and tie, nuked. I would kill those animals, dump there bodies in a ditch, and vacume that whole damned house 47 times if I thought there still wouldn't be hair on my cloths. Even my friends end up with hair on there cloths after hanging out with me for a few minutes. Torture......

Ack, I know what you mean. I have a dog and during the summer time...he sheds, ALOT. He's only allowed in the kitchen since beagles are messy, lord, step in there and the hair sticks to you if you're wearing black.

I'm wondering, any tips on washing fishnets : keeping their colors bright and washing them without worry of tearing?

3 cats.... LoL ... I think I have you beat. I own 3 long haired cats 4 short haired cats. Also cats have found a way into my closet but going under the door. 5 dogs.
Hair problem yes. So I look for the biggest roll of duct tape I can find. Wrap around whole hand and start rubbing. Oh and I just got 3 baby birds. So next it will be a feather problem.
as for my darks. I don't put the dryer on very long. I put it on for as short of a time as I can get away with. It helps.

Aye, I usually don't put my clothes in the dryer since they seem to fade faster (just as someone here said they would).
