Okay guys, itīs 6:00 am. I"ve been up since yesterday morning.
My brainīs sleepmaker thing is broken.
I have this happen often, I will have a couple weeks to a couple months
peaceful, restful, regular sleep.
Then whammy. I get about 2-4 hrs of sleep a night if Iīm lucky, sometimes
for months on end.
And no, Iīm not on meth, or on speed, or even caffine for that matter.
I just canīt fucking sleep.
Usually after a week or so of this, I crack and take my bettie patented
insomniac coctail, but I have to do it on a night when I have the next day
or two off...a sort of toxic sleep cycle reset elixir.
If anyone wants to give it a shot, you didnīt hear it from me. Youīre also
listening to someone whoīs relied on sleeping pills for the past many years
so they donīt do shit for me anymore.
Four tylenol "simply sleep" caplets.
Two tequilla shooters, or four butterscotch schnaps shots.
The remake of "nosferatu the vampire" (the LONGEST and most BORING movie on
the face of the earth, guaranteed to put anyone into a coma) on the vcr at
the foot of my bed.
No light.
Sleep for two days.
This probably isnīt the healthiest remedy in the world, okay, it ISNīT the
healthiest remedy at ALL.
I just wanna know how to get some goddamned sleep.
I donīt wanna find my happy place.
Meditation makes my feet go numb.
My caffine intake does not effect it.
My food intake does not effect it.
Where my dog lies in the bed does not effect it.
Iīve tried brushing the cat before bed.
Iīve tried brushing michael before bed, but he gets pissy when I do
that.
Iīve tried taking baths.
I canīt make a regular bedtime/rise time work because of my schedule
(either 9-5:30 or 1:30-10 and you better BELIEVE Iīm not hauling my
insomniac ass out of bed if Iīm sleeping well and I donīt have to work
until the afternoon)
Reading keeps me up because I have to find a mellow stopping point or Iīll
dream about it.
Iīm hopeless. My sleepmaker is broken.
And all thatīs on comedy central this time of night is that stupid "girls
gone wild" infomercial, or some supermodel telling me how to flatten my abs
and make my butt as cute as a button so I can squeeze into the latest pair
of bootypants.
Perhaps a lobotomy will help.
Or I can just stay awake until I lobotomize myself.
I think my record is 56 hrs straight.
Two 8 hr workdays, watched the sun set twice and rise three times. THATīs
a trip...try it sometime.
HELP!!!!
If you have any creative solutions that help you sleep when you just CANīT,
PLEASE tell me and Iīll give it a try.
This is ridiculous.
They say you start going crazy after enough sleep deprivation...huh. How
bout that. ____________________

Ok, well, Iīm not sleeping now either.
As for helping you, if I lie upside down in the bed, it seems to help a
little. ____________________

| I donīt get insomnia as often as you do, but enough to be uncomfortable
once in a while. The worst thing you can do is lie in bed and toss around
and TRY to go to sleep. It never works. Get up, wander around, go smoke or
have a drink.. ( I know nicotine is a stimulant, but it seems to help if
you canīt sleep anyway) Just donīt try to sleep. When you feel yourself
relaxing, sit on the couch, maybe daydream. Youīll wake up on the couch
sometime later. This works for me, it might work for you. And as far as
reading goes, find an incredibly boring book that will put you out. The
harrowing ones will keep you up longer... ____________________

you can send a letter to some business like Quaker Oats and ask for
information. Read the information packet they send and that will put you
to sleep; so says Mr. Dickie last years social studies teacher.
You know, just come to Mr. Dickieīs class and youīll sleep like a rock.
You will fall asleep to the plain, boring voice repeating: "page 274." I
did.
Or actually it works for me when theres a clock ticking and I concentrate
on the sound, like a heart beating. Over and over and over...then I
gradually fall asleep. ____________________

oh and I have this sleeping tea stuff..
Its called Celestial Seasonings Caffeine Free Herbal Tea-Tension Tamer.
Heh, it works really well when your sick too, and it hasnīt failed at
making me sleepy. ____________________

since i have moved out here i have had problems sleeping. i think its just
the change and whatnot but i find myself up till three in the morning and
then i just pass out. I have been taking a sleep aid thats called
melatonin. it seems to be doing the trick. but it makes me twitch while im
sleeping sometimes.
anyone know anything good for panic/anxiety attacks?  i have those and they
SUCK and im sick of them!! ____________________

A friend of mineīs mother is a psychologist and she got him a prescription
for some sleeping aids.
I forget the exact name of the drug, but he said he tried one on a friday
afternoon and woke up monday mid-day. Pissed a gallon, too. ____________________

| i have had good luck with a prescription called ambien taken together with
klonopin (Court this is good for anxiety) and chased down with a beer or
two. knocks me out cold... ____________________

Try driving down to Paris from London with a bunch of British gothic punks,
drinking vodka mixed with travelsick pills and then trying to dance at a
Rosetta Stone concert. Worked for me, I slept for the next week...

Iīm going to buy some sleepy sleepy tea.
Iīve gotten a few nights of good sleep lately, but I"ve had so much to DO
that itīs IMPOSSIBLE to find time to get at least 6hrs in!
I just canīt wait until my husband and I move and get situated, my sister
in lawīs wedding is over, and I can take my vacation and just plain out
sleep for a week or two.
Bah.
Thanks for all the tips guys!
Iīll pass on the driving of inebriated crusties all over europe tho.
That would require friends and time, of which I have little of either  ____________________

Insomnia blues? Canīt sleep?
Hereīs a few things that I do.
Work out.
A 2am workout about half a hour long makes me tired enough. A quick luke
warm shower and Iīm out.
Play Half Life.
Get a good video card/cable modem, you got online gaming goodness all night
long.
Play Doom! Itīs a
classic.
Watch a dvd. We Were Soldiers just came out. Dracula or Fight Club. Legend
or Lord of the Rings. Lord of Illusions or Dead Alive. Saving Private Ryan
or BraveHeart.
Sometimes watching boring movies just wonīt do it. Work out. Shower. That
doesnīt work, play a game. Write poetry. Watch a movie. Play around with
different ideas and find something that works for YOU. Everyone is
different and different remedies work for different people.
If all else fails, alcohol will work just fine. ____________________
 but at least you know, just how much pain there is in living

Ambien used to give me the cooooolest high! I used to take it to
sleep..but id have the greatest trip before sleep.
But anywho....being in the medical field i know some things about
drugs...so let me give yall some tips about the shit that makes you
sleepy.
If you take any of these: BenadrylŪ , DiphenhistŪ, NytolŪ, Sleep-Eze 3Ū,
Sominex 2Ū, ExcedrinŪ PM...they have all the same shit called
DIPHENHYDRAMINE. So if any of this shit works for you...make sure you by
the cheapest one. AND!! for those of you who swear by Tylenol PM..please
be carefull....they do make you sleepy...BUT! They still have Tylenol in
them..and the MAX you can have in a day without damaging your liver is 4
grams (4000mg). I used to take handfulls to sleep till i figured that out.
but hey...if you can get a prescription ask for Ambein, Halcion and/or
Adivan.
Just my two cents people.... :-D :-D :-D

Tylenol PM was my drug of choice towards the end of highschool.
Get home at 3:30 or whenever I quit trying to goof off and failing, pop a
handful and go to sleep at about 5.
Then remembered the tylenol thing, and figured that was why it wasnīt doing
shit for my headaches anymore.
Tylenol makes "simply sleep" without the tylenol part. It usually works
well, but I buy the ghetto store brand ones and they do the same.
Cold pills string me out, I canīt take them. They donīt put me out, they
hang me. RIGHT inbetween that delerious sleepy bit and speed freak.
Wanna run around the block but canīt move my feet and feels like I lost
everything below the neck.
I took ONE..count it ONE...HALF the dosage...of advil cold and sinus when I
was having a monster fucking cold attacking my head and lungs.
Got to work.
I could see people talking, and their words were about a second behind
them. Remember that ether binge from fear and loathing? Thatīs what it
was like. I donīt take any kind of sudophedrines or things with them in it
because I learned my lesson.
Iīve tried watching movies...boring or not, and I canīt rent movies because
I WILL NOT return them. When I want a movie I save up and buy it on DVD
because by the time I get it BACK to the rental place I could have bought
it TWICE!
Usually the one that does me in is one of my cure videotapes (we got the
old VCR in the bedroom) and I ALWAYS fall asleep about 1 min into the
fascination street video.
But my husband works very early and he wakes up easily so I canīt watch it
in bed
Iīm up again and will be all night but I donīt work tomorrow luckily..but I
do have a lot to do tomorrow. Iīm doing laundry (halleluja for lower rate
time period power usage!! Laundry at 2am donīt cost SHIT!!)
I cleaned HALF my kitchen and I"m bothered by the clutter in my baking
cabinet.
Nobodyīs online so I"m by myself, and I just got a fucking REJECTION stub
from the painting I entered into a fucking FAIR so Iīm feeling positively
like SHIT SHIT SHIT and I feel WORSE because I canīt believe it BOTHERS
ME.
Thatīs what I get for picking up smokes at 1:30am and deciding to swing by
the mail box.
Iīm gonna go drink and watch reruns of SNL.

does increase your blood pressure and your heart rate...i know i know..i
smoke too..BUT!! to highten your chances to fall asleep...dont
smoke...easier said then done...but what the hay!! its worth a try! :-o
