and no itīs not the boogey man, itīs ME.
I was wondering if anybody has ever experienced this sort of rather
frightening phenomena themselves or via loved one....
Iīve discovered over the past year of living with michael that not only do
I talk in my sleep...a LOT, but I walk in my sleep. I attack him in my
sleep.
It began with sort of cute, sort of maniac mumbling in my sleep...no big
deal. Then one night I was out late at a bar with a friend, came home and
went drunkenly to sleep next to my lovely hubby...I thought he had to work
at 5:30am that morning, so I took care not to wake him. At 7am someone
woke me with "honey, you better get up"..so I did. On my way to the
bathroom I was thinking "itīs 7, michael is at work, so who just woke me
up?" I turned and looked at him across the room...michael looked like
someone else in the dark and my sleepy eyes...I said "I didnīt even hear
michael get up and go to work, wierd" and then terror like Iīve never known
siezed me as I thought "Who the hell is in bed with me?!" I backed towards
the bathroom, as he said "whatīs the matter? Who are you talking to?" and
I yelled "who the hell are you? why are you in my bed! where is he!" And
proceeded to back into the bathroom and lock the door. He sat there sort
of stunned, then I snapped out of it, peeked out, and he was sitting there
so perplexed...and I was scared shitless and started to cry...I thought he
was someone else.
THEN one morning I woke at 6am on the couch...I had fallen asleep there.
Wondered rather angrily why michael hadnīt woken me up and taken me to bed.
I wandered into the bedroom, woke him up and said "why did you leave me on
the couch?"
He said he tried to get me to bed, that I got up, walked halfway down the
hall with him, then pushed him and tried to take a swing at him. He turned
me, arms at my side, walked me to the couch, I flopped down and was out
before I was even on it, and said it was like I never even woke up. Donīt
remember it either.
Iīve also woken up to HIM on the couch...said I put my hands and feet on
the wall and litterally ass bumped him right out of bed onto the floor.
Several times. Or would push him out.
I kick him, yell at him, elbow him....and I woke up one time digging my
fingers into his ribs...HARD. I tried to stop, but couldnīt, and only was
able to do so when he grabbed my hand and asked me what I was doing.
Some are probably just harmless sleepwalking incidents, but Iīve looked
into it and the times that it is occurring is far before the state of deep
sleep where our bodies begin to act out our dreams. I also have sleep
paralysis often, but not the typical dream of not being able to move, but
lying there physically paralysed...when I first noticed this I put my clock
close to my bed and when I felt it coming on, or woke up as such, I could
see my clock and the numbers change on my clock so I would know I was wide
awake. And I am. Never at the same time, bedtime doesnīt affect it, diet
doesnīt affect it, alcohol doesnīt affect it. Usually a mere hour to three
after I first fall asleep. Not deep enough for the usual REM deep sleep
paralysis or "waking dreams" And it happens recurrently in the same night,
Iīll wake up paralysed, finally break it after a few minutes, and then as I
lie down I can feel my body sieze and tingle as it takes over....while I"m
still awake.
Accompanied by the sound of bees or helicopter blades..or laughing
children. Sometimes it feels like feet are stepping on me from my legs to
my head.
I wanna know what the fuck this is before I kill michael or myself in my
sleep. Or hurt one of us badly. Or be driven insane. Or all of the
above.
He said the other day that I woke up as he was getting ready for work,
rolling around in bed muttering "iīm not crazy" *yes, true, stupid but
true*
HELP!
Alcohol seems to actually contribute to a peaceful night sleep...and during
my regular insomniac periods that last a month or longer, where I cannot
get more than 3 hrs of sleep a night, itīs the only thing that will put me
out and keep me there.
Ack...maybe I am going nuts.
you can only call me a headcase if you have an idea of how to fix me, deal?

Oh just the topic i love!! i have had plenty of experiences.. in fact
"experiences" run in my family. I think that my relatives have all had the
ability to speak, contact and live with spirits. i live with none now.. but
i have in the past and all growing up my mother, her sisters and her mother
had several run-ins with a woman in black. tall and dark and wearing a very
old fashioned black dress. often she would show up in in doorways.. stare
and then turn around and disapeer into the room she was standing in. my
grandmother (before she passed away) atcually spoke to the woman once..
asking her who she was and where she was from.. alas she did not respond..
i think she was huron. there was a group of huron that lived on the
property that my family owns..
i could tell you all lots and lots of stories about ghosts.. and i enjoy
telling them...

The feet stepping on you could possibly be the work of a poltergeist?
Although Iīm not sure if taking control of someoneīs body and making them
do things is something poltergeists commonly do, but I suppose it could
happen...

Oh I donīt think that Iīm being controlled (? *shudder*), Iīm just
wondering what the hell is wrong with me. If anyone has a medical/mental
explanation that I"m not seeing...Iīve tried diet changes, not drinking,
drinking MORE, tea before bed, a hot bath before bed, less sleep MORE
sleep....*sigh* itīs so tiring and I wanna stop clobbering poor michael in
his sleep. No WONDER heīs so tired all the time...

I kinda have the same problem some times. When I go to sleep, I stay
asleep. My sister kicked me in the ribs a couple of times to get me to
wake up and go to sleep. I appearently sat up, said OK, and watched he
walk back up the stairs. I woke up at three in the morning on the basement
floor with the tv still on. I have slept through the worst thunder storms,
and one time even about an hour of gunshots(my grandfather was shooting the
sparrows that were pulling the baby birds out of the birdhouse.) Another
time, we were drinking, not a lot mind you, but at about 3 or 4 am, I was
asleep and apparently, I sat up, and asked for more to drink, they handed
me my drink back (they took it when I fell asleep, we were watching
vegitales I believe) I then thanked them, drank a little more, put my head
back on the pillow, went to sleep, them promptly knocked the drink over and
inadvertantly getting pulp, from the OJ, up my nose. It was a horroble way
to wake up. But other than lots of tossing and turning, I have a habbit of
waking up laying the opposit direction, or even sideways(I have no clue how
this works, as at well over 6ī I donīt fit sideways on a single bed...) and
not have a clue as to how I got that way. I even managed to turn around in
a crowded tent while in a sleeping bag without waking anybody, including
myself.

How much time do you actually spend in bed, other than when you are asleep?
If you spend your time in bed doing such things as eating, playing, or
other activities that are usually reserved for other places then it becomes
hardwired into your system: the bed as a territory as opposed to a resting
place. And it affects the length and quality of sleep. This is what happens
with a lot of cases of mild insomnia, so maybe (for a little while)
reserving a portion of your house for sleep only? Not necessarily the bed,
but a place you can be isolated. I dealt with the same thing (minus
bedmate/victim), and that solution is what my doctor told me to do to get
off sleeping pills. I donīt recommend the sleeping pills.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but it sounds like a textbook case
of minor epilepsy. The preceding sound is what makes me think this, most
epilieptics report a sounds or a smell right before an epileptic fit, and
while we all have this mental image of epileptic fits as these foaming at
the mouth twitching industrial dances, in fact most cases are alot more
minor. Some people find themselves sleepwalking and becoming violent when
their movement is interupted, some people exhibit īfugue statesī wherein
they will suddenly stop whatever they are doing, walk away and do any
number of things. When the come out of the fugue state they have no memory
of what they have been doing.
The violence in your sleep is (in the terms of this decidedly unmedical
diagnosis) probably attributable to Michael rolling over on you in the
midst of a minor fit, and the paralysis would be a similar instance, your
brainīs electricity is just a bit out of whack at the moment and itīs no
longer taking signals from the Bettie control center. I know they have some
pretty impact free medications for it (like once a day kind of thing) that
minimize the impact of the fits and keep most of them from happening.
I know some forms of epilepsy can be traced back to some form of
emotional traua at a young age and are actually treatable in a final sense
by therapy, other kinds are still completey unexplained and they just hand
you a bottle of pills and say "good luck", but as itīs mostly only
happening in your sleep, itīs really possible that you could get it under
controll with a night time pill and never have to worry about it again.
I hope Iīm wrong and itīs actually just a case of the newlywed tremors or
something and itīll stop as suddenly as it started. Remember Iīm not a
doctor and the closest Iīve gotten to real medicine is recreational, so
take all of this with a grain of salt. I just thought this might be
something for you to check out.

P.S. I used to wake up in the closet whenever i slept in a strange house.
It never failed, but when I hit about eighteen it just stopped. Maybe itīs
something like that...

quote:...said I put my hands
and feet on the wall and litterally ass bumped him right out of bed onto
the floor.
Iīve done that to Rogue before, shoved him right out of bed. Iīve punched
him before, too... although I know that one was the result of a
particularly harrowing dream I was having...
And it happens recurrently in the same night, Iīll wake up paralysed,
finally break it after a few minutes, and then as I lie down I can feel my
body sieze and tingle as it takes over....while I"m still awake.
Accompanied by the sound of bees or helicopter blades..or laughing
children.
I used to have these spells all the time... I thought someone was messing
with me, or that Iīd gotten the attention of bad spirits.... Rogue says
itīs a normal biological function... your body has to shut down when youīre
asleep, so you wonīt go running around in your sleep... sometimes the
shutdown occurs before youīre actually asleep, and you get what is called a
"night terror" You canīt move, you canīt breathe, sometimes you hear
strange things, or feel pressed down. It takes a lot of willpower to shake
it off. I found that a good, stiff drink or two before bed cuts down on
episodes... when I couldnīt sleep, and I tried sleeping pills, it seemed to
bring the attacks on... I also find I have attacks more frequently if Iīm
sleeping alone, especially if Iīve been feeling alone. Iīve had some really
bad episodes when the night terrors were accompanied by waking dreams, and
once I could have sworn there was a presence above my bed that spat on me.
Best thing to do, I think is, have a drink, and think happy thoughts.
Eventually the episodes will decrease, although youīll get a really hairy
one once in a great while, if you follow the same pattern I did..
well, Iīm rarely in the bedroom other than when itīs sleepy time (or
something...uh..), so it canīt be that...but hell Iīm up for a stiff drink
ANYTIME.
Shade, Iīve often thought about the epilepsy thing quite often....and yes,
it only happens in bed. I do have "time lapses" that I felt I could always
describe as "zoning out" like driving long stretches of road and all of a
sudden after a part that I know is twisty and turvy and turns and such, Iīm
past it and donīt remember it *yikes*
Thought it was just īcause my brain likes a break every now and then..okay,
often. FINE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY ARE YOU HAPPY?
ahem.
*whine* I donīt wanna go to the doctor! It seems like every doctor story
Iīve heard from friends is you tell them whatīs happening, they look in
your ears, and next thing you know youīve got your feet in the rack and
heīs coming at you with a specula. And Iīm prone to kicking such men.
I probably should go...got to investigate my insurance and find a
doctor...fuck I hate this.
I"ve been timing this shit to certain days that I get frequent pannick
attacks or havenīt been sleeping...and found that only on the most severe
of days is when it happens. Something to look into, something to go on, I
guess.
Okay, mr blue hair, youīve cornered me.
Iīll *THINK* about it.....*sulk*

 iīve never beaten anyone up while i was asleep and i donīt
sleepwalk or talk in my sleep. when iīm out, iīm OUT. some years ago tho,
i kept waking up in my closet to the sound of humming (not mine) and always
found myself standing in the same place facing a back corner of the closet.
after about six times it stopped completely.
Itīs very frightening to realize youīre commiting brutalities to your honey
when you sleep!
Poor guy...didnīt know what he was getting into when we got married...he
sleeps with one eye open.
I feel like cesare in "cabinet of dr. caligari"..tho nobodyīs turned up
dead yet and I"m not in a 1912 psych ward.

bettie.. i hope things get better and you find that (as was mine) its all
stress related
i used to wake up screaming for no reason with all the lights on and music
playing softle (this was all my imagination but the screaming) as soon as i
would stop screaming everything would get quiet and the lights would fade
ad i would sit there just crying or hours..
i went to a doc because of it and he said i was crazy or some shit but i
never did trus doctors but what had happened is that i had gotten a
pregnancy test (there was something wrong with me and they did it to make
sure i wasnt or thats all it was..) and it came back positive (well no.. it
was wrong..)
but i would think before i got to sleep about something i had thaought
about once.. when a baby grows inside of you there is a spirit destined to
take that body right? well before i would sleep i would think well if
there realkly is a baby inside me then its soul should come soon and i
happened to voice this once
well there were a few "living" in the house i now live in.. we have dont
multiple seonces (spelling sorry) and found that there are about five at
all times.. there were a few more while this was going on and what
happened (acoarding to myself and a few others expierienced in these
matters) was that my worrying about the baby not having a soul had
attracted the soul that was ment for a baby in the future and it was trying
to inhabit the body but there was none so it was taking me over trying to
find it or something
i got another test dont that was 110% acurate and negitive.. and it
stopped..
i dont think this is quite the same.. but.. well..
either way i really hope that this turns out alight for yo and i hope you
dont have to have too many tests done.. (phyc tests anyways..)
good luck..

One of my past lovers used to be really odd in bed, occasionally sheīd
just flip out, I guess it was just sort of a violent form of
somnambulistics but a couple times she throttled me pretty good. I remember
once she started clawing at herself, and drew blood, I literally had to pin
her three ways to sunday to stop her...then she just went limp. That was
strange, but I was just glad I was there. From what I hear from my old
roomate...I used to be a very unpleasant person when I was sleeping. I
canīt speak Cantonese when Iīm awake, but he says I have it down awesome
when Iīm sleeping. He still wonīt tell me what I said. Maybe heīs just
fuckinī with me.
