I said the idea amused me. this does give the impression that it is not
serious. i would have thought that that was clear.
as an open community you make it unclear when and where certain modes of
expression are appropriate and you make it very hard for people to fit in.
I held my hands up and said i was wrong to express myself in such a
combatative way in certain cases. i also apologised for a couple of my
replies to you because, as i said at the time, my tone was not clear due to
the limitations of typed conversation.
i will again apologise, though i suspect this will make no difference.
i dont think that the drugs were key. an idiot is still an idiot when on
drugs, often more so, but being on drugs does not make a great mind not
great, as in the case of the artists i mentioned.
nihilism is a facet of the romantic movement, in the way that you
described. there are often nihilistic tendencies in romantic writing,
especially when you come to the romantic movement in music, cf berlioz as a
fantastic example, and damn good listening. yes some of their tenets are
mutually exclusive, but they overlap too.
the gothic movement was an evolution and extension of the romantic period
of expression. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

Worm: Christianity is not a flaw. While you may get "points" from some
people, you will not get points from everyone. As far as I can tell,
Shmeng is not made up of assembly-line humanoids who all think the same
way; we come from different backgrounds and showcase a variety of beliefs.
Regarding variety, this site is a microcosm for the world you interact with
every day, so I know you're used to variety. Christianity itself implies
variety, as it embodies many different beliefs within itself. You (and by
“you” I mean both Abaddon and W0rmw00d) bashed Feral for “hatred for a life
unlike one’s own,” yet you disregard those whose creeds differ from
yours.
You say horror is an integral part of Gothicism. Elaborate. How
is it integral, in what sense? Fascination with? Participation in? The
study of?
About "conventional wisdom": I don't believe there's any such thing as
conventional wisdom. Wisdom is never conventional. You say conventional
wisdom is "what the majority hold to be true." I would call this "common
belief." Wisdom is much more than accumulated knowledge. Anyone can
accumulate knowledge; wise people process it.
And don’t let Squid hear you say that Oscar Wilde was challenging.

I did not say it was a flaw, i said that i was not a christian. i was not
claiming points for myself, i was giving them for a correct summation of me
from something i had written.
I didnt think that i had 'bashed' feralucce. i responded to the points
brought up, as in a debate.
I have not disregarded any statement. i have sought to explain why i
disagree if i do and clarify if i feel the point i made was misunderstood
or unclear.
i said that the exploration of horror on the psyche was what i was
referring to, this was in my followup post.
coventional wisdom vs. common beleifs... this is really just semantics. now
that i have explained what i meant by it the actual words i used can be
tossed by the wayside.
I'm not sure that i can stand by and see a person not appreciate Oscar
Wilde. If I could be confident of discussion rather than argument I would
try and persuade. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

you know... I am prejudiced... agains stupid people... it has nothign to do
with you personal philosophy... but those that are nothing more than
screaming monkeys are treated as such... I abhor those taht are dumb enough
to be part of the status quoe... and I revel in it... I choose intolerance
in this issue... and frankly... you two fit neatly into the status quoe of
stupid mother fuckers taht I encounter in every day life... believe what
you want, but it is not your fucking religious or philosophical beliefs
taht put me off... it is your complete inability to hold a rational and
well thought out conversation...
second part of the law of Feral... I don't come here to make you like me so
your dislike for my intolerance is of no consequence to me... I hate
humanity for it's brainless pursuit of self fulfillment... I am not liked,
nor do I care to be... so... unless you like listening to your keyboard and
your voicebox rattle(which I believe you do) keep your opinions of me to
yourself... as I don't pay enough attention to your posts any more to even
catch what you had said*snicker* ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

Aww, no opinions of you? Even if my level of respect for you is analogous
to the respect I would have for a large hungry alligator with a taste for
human flesh?

Feral and Andree: I find your little metaphoric messages with hidden
meaning very funny and clever.
(Did you spot the hidden message in there? What I actually meant was: Grow
some balls and say what you're going to say to peoples faces instead of
trying to be cloever and just turning out childish.) ____________________ Light is changing to shadow, and casting a shroud over all we have known. |

am i misunderstanding, or do you think that i have anonymously insulted you
and been irrational? please, show me this anonymous post that I have
made.
you see, i actually have no problem with you. i simply do not care that you
see me disagreeing with you as an attack, and my friend attacking as
synonymous with me attacking.
though you do not care, before i became indifferent, i actually liked you
as one of the few people that seemed willing to be nice and point out what
i was oing wrong as a poster on this site. ____________________ Eritis sicut Deus scientes bonum et malum.

I think drugs are bad, period. People+drugs=nothing good. I don't care
what label your fall under, what you wear, what you listen to, I don't
care.... there is no reason to use drugs unless it is prescribed by your
doctor. I can tolerate cigarettes slightly more than pot. My boyfriend
is trying to stop smoking (cigs), and I smoke occasionally, but I"m not
addicted. Drinking is another issue. I don't mind a drink now and then,
but getting to the point of drowning in your own vomit is just pathetic.
What is the point of being that drunk? Again, my boyfriend and I have
drinks sometimes, but nothing like that. Some people just need to learn to
cope. |
