Ok guys i got this submission that is, i think, supposed to be ironic. It
is spelled reasonably well, at least compared to many that i have seen. It
has a main idea and trys to expound on it. It is short and sweet, one
paragraph long.
My question is "does anyone want to see short, mean articles with spelling
mistakes in thier original form?"
let me know. We have shifted the editorial guidelines a few times in the
past 6 years and I am willing to shift them again. Once, everything that
went up was spellchecked and oftern underwent two or three re-writes. we
have also had a "post just about everything" policy.
I want to know which, if either, you guys perfer.

if you feel that it is worthy to be published, then I will gladly read
it... you have yet to be wrong in that judgement ____________________ The earth turns on a tilted axis - just doing the best it can.

Depends on whether you're going for quality or quantity here. I'm not sure
what the motives of a webmaster/mistress are, precisely.
When traffic to a site goes down, the admins always panic as though the
stockholders are going to revolt. They seem to have internalised that
idiotic capitalist philosophy that unless something is growing and
expanding, it's not worthwhile (somebody tell that to my brain tumor,
please). I see a lull in traffic as a period of evolution, where the
dynamic is changing even if it is not "expanding" per se... kind of like
tweakytime in the life of a website.
What we have learned about feature articles is this: If you take three
hours to write something as well as you can, it will generate a total of
about 12 comments, mostly of the "good job" variety, for a period of about
two days. If you take five minutes to pound out a paragraph and use the
words "goth" or "sex" as liberally as possible, it will keep generating
comments for a period of about two weeks.
If you're a quantity sort, this is a no-brainer of a decision to make. As
a matter of fact, if quantity is all that you're worried about, take a
moment to make up a new name (keep it as trite as possible), and bang out a
few paragraph-long 14.8-type submissions and watch the traffic to this
swell to bursting with pubescent troglodytes. It's kind of a network TV
approach.
Unfortunately, if you are a quality-oriented person, these are precisely
the sorts of submissions that will keep you from ever wanting to pull up
this page again.
So the answer to your question depends upon what you want to see in the
long run. If you feel that a website is like a shark and must keep moving
at all costs or it will die, then you are going to have to lower the
overall quality and post whatever garbage finds its way into the in-box.
If you are more of an elitist snob like myself, you would press the delete
button and pretend you never saw posts like the one you have described. ____________________ "I believe that woman is planning to shoot me again." |

I have to admit I like the train wreck effect of posting the things that
fall more than a little short of being great works of literature. When I'm
bored to tears at work it's nice to have something new to look at, even if
it is only to laugh over it. ____________________ Wind me up and make me crawl to you, tie me up until I call to you. |

I think i am going to save up for a multipost (hurrah!). so that said, Mono
I tend to prefer things that are good reading and DONT require or elicit
the "editor/ubernanny" in me. Kira, i get to read some serious
trainwreckage in the slush pile, and some is so bad that i fear getting
banned for posting it.
thanks for the feedback. I will use it in future as my personal
guidelines.
