So I get online. Check e-mail. Play some good music. Log into shmeng, laugh
when it says "you are sin". i dont know. i find it funny.
Looking through people posts i see that the main way to retaliate to
someone trying to give you a piece of their world is to call them "like
15". This happens in alot of places, specifically online (for obvious
reasons). On Diablo, if someone does something you dont fully aprove of or
agree with they are called "a newbie".
I havent posted for a while, after a chat with callie on aol or yahoo or
something, ive given up on trying to associate with poeple on the internet.
Its to flawed. In callie and I´s convorsation, she left with calling me
"like 15". I am 18, i will be 19 in less than a month. No, that shouldnt
have been written, im not here to prove my age... sorry. Ive meet 12 yr
olds with a better view either philosophically or religously than most 40
yr olds i know. mostly because at that age the mediocrity hasnt fully sunk
in, their not yet jaded. I am not trying to directly attack callie, she is
just my example, because i noticed she did this again when someone was
e-mailing her. callie didnt like what she said, so she became "like 15". I
dont quite understand the cut down? is it bad to 15 and opinionated? If
s/he finds herself/himself wrong in a few years, good job for acctually
catching it. If someone is being agressive in the thought that they are
"right", then why say "your wrong! your like 15!". it seems like your doing
the same thing back.
So that brings me to the question of intellegence. i dont belive that
intellegence exists. One friend told me it is based on efficiancy, another
book-smart. So if someone knew alot about computers, and another
landscaping, who is more intelegent? the person who knew computers couldnt
do sh*t about a yard. and ask the landscaper to build a computer? uh.. no.
so which is more intelegent?

A: those are all propper sentences... The subject is an implied "I". It is
incredibly informal, but still gramatically functional... I still agree
with your opinion on it though... acceptible is not good enough,
sometimes... LOL...
MRD: Congrats...

Do people not bother forming proper sentences any more?

Hey*grins* it is all good... I, above all else, understand the difficulty
in communication in this medium... many are the times that I looked like an

My apologies then, I shall say I am wrong in saying that and what you said
above is correct, intellect does matter. I should of thought out what I
said a bit more.

Schizo - apologies accepted. I never took it as anything personal in the
first place.
feralucce- I believe I never said that intellect didn't matter. I believe I
said or meant to say that it doesn't matter the age a person is, the way
they think and figure things out and understand things matters when it
comes to intellect. I never meant to say on the other hand that people with
not much intellect are bad people. I know very well they can be good
people. I myself as well know people that aren't extremely smart but are
very kind nice people and worthy friends.

When we call someone 14, obviously we do not mean that we are sure this is
their age, or that we think all 14 year olds are hopelessly irritating.
What we do mean it that the person in question is whining like a 2 year
old, while acting like they think they're older than the hills, a common
attitude for people in their early teens.
Some people never become "14", no matter how old they are. Some people
never seem to grow out of it. We all know how difficult and confusing it
is to be in your early teens. We've all been there, and it sucks. Very
few people can really say they had a great time at that age, and even fewer
would choose that age as the one they would go back to if they could.
When we call someone "14", often we are hoping that is really what age the
person is, so they have some excuse for their behavior, and will maybe grow
out of it. That maybe the person will go a way for a bit until they've
grown up enough to handle adult interaction, and then come back so we can
have a better time together. Unfortunately, many people who come here
acting "14" are actually old enough to know better. In which case, we hope
they will get their panties in a wad over the insult, and leave for
good.
However, if you really are 14, or 15, and can respect others and earn
respect, then welcome and we're glad to meet you. And our apologies for
the fact that we have used your age as an insult. It's not personal.

Yes... intellect does matter... nicest person in the world works at my
store... her name is Krisite... she is dumber than a bag od unassembled
doorknobs... as a result... you cannot have a conversation with her without
having to explain your words every 15 seconds... it is infuriating... How
can you even begin to presume to tell someone what they should value in a
person and what they should consider in their friends? It seems an arrogant
thing to do so...
While it does not seem like it now... when you hit a certain age... (it
differs from person to person) it is a scientifically proven fact that the
brain chemistry changes in a subtle manner... while this is subtle it is
measuralbe... and when you look back, you will see the differences in your
own psyche and reasoning capabilities... at this point, however... I am
going to let the sleeping dog lie, as I did not believe it when I was told
the same thing growing up...
The age issue is what it is.. there is a gap between generations... some,
can bridge it without missing a stride and others take a leap of faith into
a chasm that is too wide for them and fall to their doom... but, believe it
or not... intellect, age and experience are invaluable...and if they are
not, in your opinion, then perhaps you are in the wrong place...

quote:I'm actually only 14, but
am most certainly more mature than other people my age. I won't argue with
the experience and the intelligence bit, of course. I know that I haven't
been there yet, and I haven't done that yet, whatever it is.
I find it very unusual however that people nearly 10 years older than me
prefer my company to people their age.
And I find it very unusual that people mistake me to be 17 or 20. Wait,
maybe that's because I just actually look that old already.
Yeah, I'm also 14, I also get the same a lot. I have friends that are older
then me by quite a few years that when they first met me they thought I was
at least 17-18 because of my personaility.
My belief when it comes to the intellect of a person it doesn't matter the
age as many have said here. I don't think experience matters either. More
so how does a person think? How does a person calculate things and
understand things? I have ideas, thoughts, knowledge and beliefs on things
of which I haven't had any expeirences. I gather the views I have from the
logic of the topic. I shall say the smartest, most intellect people are the
ones that can sit for hours and just think about one thing. Go to the
limits to understand a topic and figure it out. Base their beliefs and
views on that.
Oh, everyone has their moments when they are immature. Nobody have better
say that they are always mature, there is no truth in that. Maturity is
just a label. Mature or immature, it doesn't matter. Each and every person
ever born is born with the same amount of intellect as each other. Just
some of us decide to reach to the limits others do not. One of my beliefs
is unconciously we know everything there is to know in the world. Never in
one life time will that knowledge be completely revealed, all that
knowledge will never be completely revealed. There is simply to much things
still left to be learned by the human race that by the time the world ends
there will still be things left unlearned. Unconciously we know everything
and through our lifetime we learn part of the knowledge. Some are able to
uncover certain things more quickly then others others take their time to
learn and uncover certain things slowly. Some never learn some things,
others learn some things well. Depends on the person whether or not they
choose to be a well thought out philosophical person or not. The intellect
of a person shouldn't matter anyways, its much better to judge on
personaility unless the intellect of the person greatly effects the
personaility.
Well thats enough for my first post.

in order to be decent and go for a bit of maturity maybe i should explain
the last post i made...
quote: all it seemed like
parent figures wanted to do was force their own beliefs into my head.. but
i must have seemed like i knew everything becuase they kept telling me that
is what i thought. i never felt like i needed to know anything because
there were so many adult ready to tell me what i thought or
felt.
for reference i had said this before which is a relatively prime example of
15 year old thinking and upon re-reading it i noticed that and hoped to
point it out though i suppose i did not do such a good job in getting that
across... yeah, not good job at all.
the point sort of was that even looking back at the thought process of a 15
year old can be done with a "like 15" mindset and thus prove that age and
maturity do not quite go hand in hand which is why someone like callei
would say "like 15" in hope that whoever the subject is will gain insight
and eventually grow up etc...
sorry, to you chrissy if that sounded bitchy i did not mean it to be.
though i kind of hoped you would post an argument if only for interests
sake and to keep the conversation going. by you saying "That'd be stupid of
me to do so." it seemed like you already understood the slight irony that
arose. anyway...

Let me say That most people my age ANNOY THE PISS OUT OF ME... I'm 16 and
sure i have my immature moments but everyone does some time or other. They
help us grow because when we realise (well most of us...) people aren't
attracted to our crap or aren't oging to put up with it we usually step off
if we have any brains at all. I mean... you can find my "like 15" moments
on these forums somewhere I garuntee. I look at them and go "GAH! What was
I thinking?" But yeah... huge emotional outburst's and raging hormones are
part of puberty. Not much you can do about it... Every teen has them in one
form or other. Some very commendable people can supress them but those are
a tad rare.

in response to the original post... intelligence, here at least measured by
your ability to communicate and make yourself understood in a well thought
out and expressed manner. Typos and mis-spellings aside... if one cannot
make propper sentences with the words they know... they fail the iq
test...
The commentary on age is not one of intellect or intelligence but
maturity... one can be opinionated without being immature... for example...
the mature thing to do would have been to make this post without posting
names...
If you act 15, you get treated as such... as for the newbie comment on
diabloe and other online gaming communities - it is a socially acceptible
way to say, you don't know what the fuck you are doing...

statements like that last one, chrissy... are part of what people get upset
about... while it may not have been intended as such, it could have been
percieved as more than a little bitchy... if you have a response (that is
what a conversation - a well thought compilation of intellectual discourse
- demands... an argument, while fun at times does nothing to feed the
intellect and tends to be simplistic, at best... I am resigned to the fact
that this will be interpreted as an attack, but I am still hopeful that my
attempts to educate and fascillitate integration of new members can be
recognised for what they are...
