In Wicca there's a strong belief in the threefold law - the idea that any
energy that you send out will come back to you three times as strong. This
doesn't really make sense to me, as it seems to go against the ideas of
every action having an equal and opposite reaction, and energy not being
created only changed from one form to another. I don't see how the energy
is suddenly tripled to return to sender.
I think a far more common-sensical idea is to simply accept that if you're
a positive person, you attract positive energy, and if you're a negative
person you attract negative energy. This makes sense because it works for
examples like if you go out of your way to help someone, they're a lot more
likely to help you in the future than if you had caused them their problems
in the first place. It also means that crappy things happening to good
people, and bad people sometimes coming out on top are still acceptable
situations because it's not like this is a hard and fast law.
So, the purpose of this thread, is what do you believe in? Several
religions seem to have their own versions of this idea, sometimes it's as
simple as 'do as you would be done by', and even the atheists here should
have some form of opinion, possibly agreeing with me.
Do our actions have specific repurcussions? Does the energy we send out
somehow return to us? ____________________

Well...douchebags and now sheep....mix all this stuff all together and you
could come up with some off the wall new hippie esque type new religion
thing. *nods*
And those sheep may be afraid of the same rock everyday but everyone has
fears. Those that fear God, those that fear man, those that fear the dark,
ect. No matter what you believe. Its like being afraid of something that
you know damn well can't harm you but your are still petrified anyways

How can one overcome obstacles and NOT identify oneself with them
we are a collection of our experiences, our triumphs, our defeats, our
joys, our pains... and everything we face and overcome makes us what we
are... if you do not identify yourself with your past... then you are a
sheep...
my uncle has a sheep ranch... these animals are so dumb, that they are
taken down the same path every day... and every day they are scared by a
rock... the same damn rock... they don't even become conditioned to expect
it and start to get scared before... it's ... amazing ____________________

As I said, it's only a punishment if one percieves it to be such.
It's natural to hope that the Universe will avenge yoo but the reality is
the system isn't happy smiley let's frolic with dafodils and fuck like
bunnies karma. In fact there isn't a system at all. Typically however, if
yoo look fro trouble, yoo'll get it. If yoo don't look for trouble, yoo'll
still probably have to put up with a certain amount of it.
The trick is to not think of yorself as a victim. Overcome yor obstacles
rather than identify yorself with them. I realize this is often very
difficult, especially if yoo have had some shitty things happen to them.
Nevertheless, every crisis can be beneficial if used it to yor benefit. ____________________

No, I think it's still a curse - the DB just doesn't realize what it's
missing out on. Plus, behind all the satisfaction they reap from their
douchebaggery, there is also (if they are intelligent enough) a deep inner
fear of losing their power to get away with it. Being a douchebag is a
dangerous occupation - if you do it unwisely, or to the wrong person, it
can have serious repercussions. Of course, the smell of danger generally
gives the DB a nice adrenaline rush, and a wise DB will choose its victims
carefully.

It is sad that most douchebags actually ENJOY throwing shit at others. So
while it might be a punishment for you or I, Squid, to behave as a
douchebag, to a true douchebag, it's like a fucking carnival. Especially
since many people will give a douchebag anything it wants, just to make it
go away, since it's easier than fighting.
It's like with smells - if you smell something putrid, you gag and vomit.
But if you yourself are putrid, you really don't smell it anymore - you
just make other people gag and vomit.
The real curse of being a douchebag is the fact that only weaklings and
fellow douchebags bother to associate with you. And weaklings are useless,
and fellow douchebags will treat you as badly as you treat them. But
douchebags rarely realize that they are missing out on having positive
relationships with intelligent, strong, and worthwhile people. They're too
busy being douchebags.

bitchy people, rarely care about people's reaction to their behavior... as

Yeah man, I know when I look at people who treat others like shit and I say
"now there's a happy person."
Regardless, I wouldn't be happy being a douchebag (excep to certain people)
and I have no envy whatsoever for those who I identify as such. ____________________

Define "Spiritual Energy?"

There is no difference between physical energy and spiritual energy... lets
start with some basic scientific facts.
Fact: When they have studied Psychic ability... those that showed a marked
ability above the rest show an advanced alpha wave state identical to that
experienced when in REM sleep. This state lasts for a small time after
waking from the dream state. Ironically, most inventors come up with their
innovations at this time.
Supposition: Ever had a dream that came true? Ever dreamt an entire
conversation then had it? The advanced alpha state could be responsible for
that.
Fact: A computer can be effected by EM radiation. The process is called
induction. It's the foundation for how radios and televisions work. As
anecdotal evidence - in my home town, there was a Hardees that had an
awning over the entire drive through. WHen anyone with a CB or similar
tranceiver would "key up" (transmit) in the drive through, their register
system would crash. This phyical phenomenon is the reason you will find FCC
compliance stickers on many appliances
Fact: Any strong magnetic field will leave its mark on an ambient magnetic
field. We live in an ambient magnetic field - the earth's. Lines of weak
magnetic force can be distorted by a stronger source. An example of this is
a television. if you drag a magent over the screen it will remain
distorted. This can destroy older sets because it will leave the
distortion there... It won't work on plasma and lcd set, but most modern
CRT televisions have an automatic De-gauss function because of this.
Fact: The human brain, during times of stress, can put out a magnetic field
that can be read across a room and far exceeds the 2 miligauss of the
earth's magnetic field.
Fact: In essence, the human brain and a computer are made up of the same
thing, a series fo switches that are on or off. Yes, the brain has chemical
flavoring to its firing, but in essense a transistor and a neuron are
either on or off. It has been proven, in modern psychology that the brain
responds to certain EM frequencies in certain ways. i.e. the brain reacts
to certain colors in certain ways.
Fact: there are animals on the planet that are excessively sensitive to
magnetic fields already. Birds that migrate, fish that swim back to the
place of their birth to spawn, and dogs that navigate continents to get
home.
Supposition: Why does it have to be metaphysical when physical laws allow
for the same experience? Strong emotion marks the magnetic field. Brains
that are sensitive enough can pick up on these changes in magnetic
fields.
Theroy: The big bang... everything was part of one subatomic super
particle
Fact: When we split a particle, there is a phenomenon known as quantum
entanglement, where the fragments are linked, permenantly. When quark a
goes spin down, instantly, quark 2 will go spin up. What is done to one is
reflected by the other.
Supposition: by prayer, spell, wish... we invoke that key alpha state that
seems to be the underlying structure of the universe. Since we are all
matter from teh same subatomic super particle, we have learned, at least in
part, to control the entanglement of ourselves with the rest of the
universe. In short, there is no difference between phyical energy and
spiritual energy... all energy springs from the same source, the core of
the nuclear furnaces of stars... ____________________

I think everyone's pretty much said what I believe, although in different
ways, and possibly slightly more eloquently.
I was talking about this on another forum and someone suggested that it was
a bad idea to try and apply the laws of physics to the Threefold Law,
because the energy it refers to isn't physical energy, but
spiritual energy instead.
What do you think about that idea?
I don't see how spiritual energy would be anything other than plain
old energy with a different name tacked onto it. I mean, energy is energy
is energy. If spiritual energy isn't energy of the type we talk
about in physics, then what would it be? And why would it be called energy
at all? ____________________
