The Longest Journey
Technically this is a video game. Its more of an interactive movie on the level of matrix, but with dragons and coffee shops.
You play as a bewildered art student that is sucked into the middle as two worlds (magic and science) start to collide. You bounce between worlds refusing to believe what you see yet fighting to save them both.
What makes this really, relaly different that MOST of the interactive fiction (MYST and GABREIL KNIGHT) is that you arent the "winner" or the loser, you are just part of the story.
I usually have a very short attention span for video games, and with this one, I stayed up late to keep playing.
