Heathers
There are so many wonderful teen-angst movies out there, I mean really, doesn’t American Pie speak to a generation. Well, if it is speaking, and not to you, that perhaps means it is because you are a Goth, or at least have the good sense not to make getting laid the most important part of you’re academic career. Honestly who has time for sex when you could be out planning the possible annihilation of your school?
While writing in your diary do you find yourself saying things like:
"Dear Diary, I want to kill- and you have to believe, it's for more than just selfish reasons, more than just a spoke in my menstrual cycle. You have to believe me!" – Veronica
If that sounds like the little voice in your head telling you to start fires than maybe you should sit down and watch Heathers. This is an excellent dark comedy from the late eighties. Surprisingly enough it stars not only Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in the lead roles but you can also find Shannen Doherty as one of the preppy cheerleaders who needs to die.
Veronica (played by Winona Ryder) decides that she wants to fit and joins an elite high school click formed by three girls named Heather. As soon as she fits in she falls in with JD, the new kid on the block/maniac anti-social killer. It’s downhill for the preps from there.
This movie is more quotable than the bible. I mean “bulimia is so 1987”.
This movie deals with social conformity, suicide, and school killings, years before these things made the news. And, if you can find a dark, blacker, Gother teen movie out there I’d like to know about it.
