Articles: A star for a Star |

Bruce Campbell needs a star on the walk of fame to give it some balance and help it mean something again. America, nay, the world needs that star to be there to symbolize all that is groovey, to stand for all of us that do the right thing, even when it the bad thing wont stay dead, and because chainsaws are too cool for words.
Ok here is the deal.
I am willing to do the background research to find out how many sigs we need and write the base petition.
We also need an account for the cash (donations?) to go to and a website to promote the idea and capture those sigs. As far as I saw, there is no central fan club. Weird huh?
Any shmenglings want to help out and see what we have to do to Make Bruce Campbell "shine" with Britney, Siegfried & Roy, and David Duchovny.
It may not sound like it, but I am serious about this. Its not really that much money and frankly the man has done a lot and brought a whole generation together. Even I watch his movies.

I'm more than willing to sign a petition for Bruce to get a star, and I'll send a donation. I'd just need to do it in money order form, so hopefully there will be a mail-in address such as a P.O. Box to send the donations to as well as online donations.

I'd be 100% for helping getting the master of shotgun/chainsaw wielding mayhem. That man has done so much for the de-zombification of this world, not to mention wooing the ladies, than any other actor I can think. Not to mention being a role model to retail workers across the globe.
As far as I've heard, the people that commision those stars require that a star be a star for at least 5 years, and that 15 thousand dollars be given to the group to make it. Usually the star forks up the cash, but I'm sure that a centralized group of fans signing petitions could coax the organization into giving him the star, not to mention that the fans would (with help from campbell perhaps) provide the 15 large.
Of course campbell isn't really a big, big star, and it would probably be hard to convinve the star giving people to accept him. He is after all, really a cult hero, though Lassy and Snow white have a star, and they're not even real. So yeah, create a web site for the cause perhaps, and you could have a nice nexus for all of this work to flow into.

Brisco County Junior, jack of All trades, numerous cameos on Xena and Hercules. Anybody remember Bruce's role in Congo?
This needs to happen. I cannot begin to say how badly this needs to happen.

Not to mention the gold jacket wearing ring announcer in Spider Man, a secondary role in Homicide, and in the old B classic Crime Wave, and if you listen closely during scenes where someone has to fall off something and scream on the way down, it's bruce too. He does a lot of that famous "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" in voiceovers for hollywood. He has a suprising amount of cameos in Sam Raimi films. Afterall they DO go way back, all the way to a little cabin in the woods possessed by the dead.
Oh, and that little autobiography "if chins could kill: confessions of a B movie actor". |

I know he lives in oregon, and I was thinkin about getting drunk with court and making michael drive us to his house. I've always wanted to have a restraining order issued on me.....I'd have it framed.
You can be his biggest fan, I'll be the scariest. |

Hail to the king, baby.
If they didn't accept online signatures, I would take a weekend and go door to door in my apartment building and get signatures. There are a bunch of colleged aged boys on my floor, so you know that they'll sign.

Well, $15,000 is quite a bit of money. Hell, I'm all for getting Bruce a star though and would be willing to donate to the cause.
We do not need a big petitioning list, unless perhaps we want to send Bruce a petition letting him know that "this many" people want him to have a star and are willing to invest a certain amount of money in it if he is willing to show up and accept that star.
The Qualifications are as follows:
"When nominating an individual or group, the sponsor must submit the nominee’s qualifications as well as contributions to the community and/or civic-oriented activities. The application must be accompanied by a biography (not exceeding two pages) and photograph of the nominee. Non-returnable samples of the nominee’s work may also be submitted (i.e. in the recording category -- a music CD). After the Walk of Fame Committee has made its selections, the artist must be approved by the following agencies: the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles City Board of Public Works, with the final approbation being the Los Angeles City Council.
The sponsorship fee is $15,000*. The Committee does not accept signature petitions, postcards or letters. Deadline for nominations is May 31, 2004**. For more information call (323) 469-8311."
http://hollywoodchamber.net/walkoffame/frameset.html
So, what we need is to find out what his contributions to the community are and how they make him an oustanding vibe-meister, some fantastic footage featuring his fine form on film, and Bruce to be willing to show up for the free press.
Setting up a Star for Bruce account might be a wise move. But other than that it looks like you only need one person to submit the king.

The Following missive has been sent to Bruce Campbell via his official website.
Bruce,
I would like to begin with an apology, as I am not sure, honestly, whch e-mail address this should be sent to. As such,I am sending it to both of them.
It has been brought to my attenton that, recently, Brittney Spears was given a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. I am sure you can see why this is a shock to my associates and I. This brings me to the real reason for this missive.
We are seriously considering you for nominaton for a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Honestly, if anyone deserves on, it is you. My group is ready and willing to establish a fund for donations to cover the sponsorship fee, should you be selected.
While we are ready and willing to raise our banner to this cause, we all agreed that it would honestly be best to contact you first. Does this sound like something that you would want? Without your approval, we cannot continue. There are a couple reasons for that. All inductees must be willing, for one. And the big one: we respect you.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Feral
P.s. It shames me to even consider a fanboy moment, but sometimes, it is necessary. You may or my not remember me, but on your book tour, you travelled to the MU campus in columbia mo. You signed my copy "To my biggest fan, and I am not kidding." I find myself hoping you will remember me. I know it's silly, but what can you do?

Re: A star for a Star by callei on Nov 24, 2003 - 07:44 PM (User info | Send a Message) http://http:// | Let me know when you hear something back. I say we give it like 3 months for a response (holiday and decicion making time) then maybe pester him once more.
But do let me know as soon as you hear from him, so I can activate that pay pal account and send the posts to some other sites.... if he says yes.
