Articles: The Whole Religion/Belief Thing |

My mom once told me that you never talk about sex, politics, or religion in polite company. Well we have covered politics and religion in the articles and sex in the forums. I guess we aren't polite. Suprize, suprize.
Are we going to let this religion thing seperate us? I dont think so, we have so much fun with it. Are we going to keep taking sides on it? Probably, the debate wouldn't be as much fun if we all said the same things.
As I see it there are four sides to it right now; pro-Christian, anti-Christian, bored-with-it-now, and never-cared-in-the-first-place. Inside of this these main groups we have the factions and the fence-sitters, the anti-organized Christian, but still for it, the anti-Christian and bored-with-it-now sitters, and so on. These grouping only include the people that have been in it since the start of course. I'm lumping the no-idea-what-they-are-talking-abouts and the what-is-this-site-all-abouts and thier ilk together.
and i know that people will disagree with the groups that I made up. That makes me so proud!
In this microcosom, we have recreated the United States. Maybe not in exact proportions, maybe we are leaving out a few possiblities ( a very American thing to do), but the general shape is the same. I wonder what that says about us.
Devin, have we indulged in shmeng tossing here? Have we sullied our lily hands with the shmeng of the "real" world? Or have we cleaned the shmeng from our hands and souls with all this purging?
I wonder.

I think I have cleared something from my system. I think I also got a little carried away. I don't exactly apologize, but I will explain.
Call it an over-violent bursting forth of a too-long pent up emotion. Mixed with an exaggerated love for debate. I hope I haven't sickened anyone.
At the same time, although I understand why people recoil at the word Christianity, I don't think that means I have to tiptoe around. If I caused anyone pain, for that I am sorry. But I am not sorry for posting.
And I think I can shut up on the subject for a good long time now. So you can all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Thankyou for your understanding, patience, and even somewhat provocative statements. I feel I have been enabled to solidify some things that perhaps were a little hazy in my mind before.
Special thanks to Comedian, even though at many times you really pissed me off, you still have my respect. I respect your views, even though I definitely do not agree. And you have given me much food for thought.
Are you sure you're not goth?

I guess for me it isn't the REAL christians I dislike, only the ones that are only good on sunday, or beacuse they are so afraid to be thier evil selves they tow the line so they won't BURN IN HELL....
Just I have yet to meet a christan that carries thier words into actions. Now I would bet that they DO exist somewhere, and I really doubt they would take offence at anothers beliefs differing from thier own. The heart of the matter seems to me is if a person is a good person, or a waste of protoplasum....
One is known by thier actions.... Words are just that. So does it matter if you call the force that underlies the universe god, the force, Gia, or what ever.... Doesn't REALLY matter that you have a good heart? Not just one that fears punishment.....
