Politics: Three years and still fighting |

I just graduated form High school, and I've been bugging my parents to let me pierce my eyebrow. It all started back in 2000 when I was a sophomore. I met this new girl called Sarah. She was the first real goth freak chick I seen at my school.
Anyway she had an eyebrow ring, and I was like " wow" I want one. We started to hang out on the weekends, and go places together, and she just grew on me. Every day I liked her piercing more and more. Then I was just barely 16, so I asked my parents. As you've probably guessed they said "HELL NO!!!" . Not to mention that they yelled at me forever about just asking to do it. A few weeks passed, and I was like ok I'll start with something small, so my friend Raven ' s mom took me. I’ve known her since I first started working at CiCi's Pizza back in September of 2000. LOL. She was a weird one just like me! Anyway I got my tongue pierced, and of course my parents found out, and were really pissed off!!! I let everything cool down with them, however it took like 5 months. Then I started bugging my mom to let me get my tragus pierced. For those of you who don't know, a tragus is the little triangle shaped piece of cartilage that comes off of the side of your face. Anyway I bugged her till she took me. Glory! As we were leaving she told me not to bug her anymore because she wasn't taking me again. I was like damn it, I should have gotten both of them done. I had to wait till I was 18 to get the other one done. Flash forward, I'm 18 now, it was a Tuesday I think, but anyway I went to the same piercing shop to the same guy. His name is Joe, he is without a doubt the best piercer in my little town. He's a short bald headed dude with lots of tattoos and piercings. Back to the point, I got my other tragus done! It hurts like hell, but it was well worth it ! A few months later, probably about November, I decided I wanted my bellybutton pierced. I go back, same place, same guy, but I decide to get the bottom pierced instead of the top. Unusual, but I've seen it before. The healing on that took 6 months!!!! Not to mention that it got caught on a lot of stuff. Ouch!!! That would put us at about June 2003. After like two weeks of making deals, and stuff with my parents, they finally said yes to having my eyebrow pierced! YAY! Today is June 25, 2003, and I just got back from getting it done. I'm so happy now! I finally got what I wanted! Well I hope it heals all right, because I went through a lot of trouble to get it . Till the next hole...

That wouldn't have been Boney Joe would it?
If so, that's where I got my Tatoo done. If not, then you should go out and meet Boney Joe, cause he's like, a cool guy and stuff.

Congratulations, I am very happy for you. Just as you did, for my birthday I am going to go get some more piercings in my cartilage. I am thinking about either two more single halo rings or one industrial bar across the ear. I hope you enjoy your piercing, and may no infection come into your holes.

Fortunately I don't live with my parents and don't have to fight about these things, but man, I can't wait to get a giant bone pierced right through my septum, that will be so cool. Then I will finally be able to justifiy all the shruken heads in my decour.

This reminds me of the time when my oldest girl was around 7 years old and had an accident and bit a small hole through her lip. I wrestled with the dillema... Should I put an earring stud in there and keep it open, as she'll be likely to put holes into her face on purpose when she gets older and it won't be painful to her to just not let the thing close, or do I let it heal up? That was way back when Shmeng first got started and I based my decision on the advice that was given at the time in the old forums... I let the hole close, knowing that she'd make body modification decisions herself in middle school or later... and that I would support her if she decided it. She's 9 now, and excited because on her 10th birthday she gets her ears pireced, if she shows that she's mature enough to take care of them. It would have been terribly cute to have her running about with a lip-pirecing, though... especially since it was gotten accidentally... how punk.... *grin*
