Politics: Will Karma kick the butt of the playground bully? |

Ok... I'll be the first to post on it...
It’s a nice spring day. The weather is gorgeous. The birds are singing. Yet… something, somewhere, is wrong. Could it be that the United States Government is playing god in the Middle East AGAIN.
For those who think 9/11 was the beginning of our problems, I recommend some Classes and studies on current events. The US has been the playground bully for years, and I am afraid. I am afraid that Karma is going to catch up. I am afraid that it’s going to happen sooner than later – and I am afraid that it is going to be worse than anyone can imagine. I mean, everyone knows that bullies are socially unacceptable.
We are engaged in a war that I fear is unwise and more than a little unnecessary. The role of the US in international politics is going to change in the near future and it is not going to be for the better. In spite of the fact that most of the major nations, a large portion of their constituents and religious leaders the world over are opposed to military action, congress has given their consent to this morally corrupt war.
Still, this war could have been avoided. Hussein is a tyrant. Hussein is guilty of numerous crimes against humanity. He has disobeyed orders from the UN security council. And it is CERTAIN he possessed chemical weapons since before 1991. ALTHOUGH, it is exceptionally unlikely that he has had access to nuclear weaponry. He has been a plague to the people of Iraq, and ruined the land. His existence has been a threat to world peace for more than 10 years. The road to war has been a long and challenging one. Let’s look at the contributing factors.
a) Bill Clinton. In 1998 Clinton did not address the concern that Hussein was not and had not been disassembling their weaponry of mass destruction. I can understand that he was distracted what with the Lewinski scandal. (and let me tell you how appalled I am that Lewinski is a word in my spell checker).
b) We raised the stakes. Gee Duh-bya Bush decided that removing the weaponry was not just enough. U.N. Resolution 1441 called for Hussein’s disarmament. Something like this should have been enforced with surgical strikes. I will admit, this does cause it’s own problems, but precision military action requires more finesse and does not result in pissing the rest of the world off.
c) Bush’s speeches. His speeches were basically creating their own foreign policy bypassing the will and rule of the American people. Phrases such as “the war on terror,” terrorist and those who harbor them,” “axis of evil,” and “regime change” all were used as justification for military action. Congress was addressed with these words but evidently does not truly understand and did not fully debate the meanings of these words. The American people are oblivious to the importance of subtle word play. Too many, for example, believe that Iraq is responsible for the world trade center.
d) Congress did not plan ahead. They gave Bush the power to act with force to enforce UN Resolution 1441. While this may have been a good thing later on… in the future, they granted this power too early.
e) Sending that many troops to Kuwait when we did lead us on a path to war. If the true goal was the elimination of chemical and biological weapons, this was not the way to do it. Amassing 275,000 troops before even officially issuing a statement tells everyone of your true intent.
This war is going to isolate us. It will leave us almost alone in the midst of once allies. It also sets a dangerous precedent for future presidents who choose to wage war. Let’s just hope that it’s not someone with Intercontinental capabilities for mass destruction. I personally would hate to be standing behind the bully when that happens.
If you're not outraged, you are not paying attention...

This "war" was always meant to isolate us. I obtained a hard copy of "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century" (the report from the Project for the New American Century... see BettieX for obtaining an internet link to the Reader's Digest version... I've gone through the 76 page version and it says the same things) through interlibrary loan from the National Defense University. It says precisely what the internet "conspiracy" stories about it says that it does... it is a manifesto for establishing empirical dominance over the rest of the world and its signatories include members of our most highly placed leadership, including our Vice President, Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense and the President's own brother. This is very literally an all-or-nothing campaign that has been launched and the stakes involve the population of the planet. It is hard to imagine how much more of a smoking gun one could possibly find that we were never interested in a peaceful resolution to the Iraq situation (and that we intend to pursue more aggressive tactics in other theatres such as North Korea in the very near future), but unfortunately, no amount of evidence will sway those amongst us who are unable and unwilling to view the world without applying the black and white cowboy hats that gave them so much comfort and purpose in the halcyon days of their youth.
We are the good guys. Just turn on the television and you will find some talk show host or washed up comedian willing to remind you of that fact. Of course, you will need to ignore the man behind the curtain... he works for the Pentagon and he wants to insure that nobody says anything that might cause us any discomfort on American soil or give aid and comfort to the enemy (go through the editorial archives of the New York Times for this past week... Lucian K. Truscott VI wrote a piece earlier this week about how the Pentagon has coopted the media immediately before our Iraqi operation... suspiciously reversing themselves about the media blackout they had been calling for up until then). Even those elected officials who represent us in Congress have been reminded by those running the show that good Americans bury their heads in the sand and don't ask questions about our motives.

We only want what is best for the rest of the world... and nobody else in the world is in a position to know what is best for them. Just look at the way we've handled our own economic problems. Tune out the fact that even the Russians (!) are calling what we are doing a "humanitarian catastrophe" and trying to petition Kofi Annan not to let that Food-For-Oil escrow account (Food-For-Oil kind of says it all by itself) be controlled by America (which, apparently, was always part of the agenda after all). What does a stinking Russky know anyway? So what if we pilfered our own Social Security repositories to the point of near bankruptcy during an age of so-called "unprecedented prosperity". I am sure that we can be trusted with other people's money during the worst economic crisis we have seen in fifty years.

We are the good guys here. I mean, haven't you seen those pictures of Iraqi's cheering and embracing our boys with the guns on our Pentagon-controlled news broadcasts? Forget about the fact that the Somalis were also shown embracing US troops in 1992 during our "humanitarian efforts" to oust Mohammed Farah Aidid. Of course, even as hated a dictator as Aidid was, those same Somalis decided that he was better than us after a few short weeks of our occupation and chased us out again. But... they hugged us once and cheered us, damn it! We have pictures!
And we are the good guys. We are overthrowing a dictator who doesn't play by the rules here. He defied the

Will Karma kick the butt of the playground bully? Probably. It usually does.
In light of mono's amazing post (ie: duality of the opinions on wars and the US "we're good! they love us! okay they loved us a week and chased us out, but ..."), I present a little twist on the same story (mono if I totally have you wrong, sorry!)
We, as a country, do a lot of good things. We also do a lot of bad things. We are not the only country to be the bullies, we are not the first country who's leaders have a greedy eye on the globe and how to dominate it (economically or literally) nor are we the first to be bullies overseas stickin our dirty little fingers in everyone else's pies. Our benign benefactor is not the ONLY world leader to go against the wishes and voices of their people, either.
It makes me very sad to see those poor people in places such as Iraq happy to see the troops, or asking reporters "when are the americans coming? I'm afraid of my govt, and I'd feel safer if the americans were here" (actual quote from CNN...eh it's prolly made up but stil).
A LOT of people in the world have felt that way at some point, only to be sadly disapointed and have that joy of "liberation" quickly turn to disenchantment, and that quickly turn to anger. Sure, our intentions may be good, but we all know what the grande promenade to hell is paved with.
I just wish that if the govt is gonna fucking LIE over their objectives for this "war", that they'd not insult my intelligence and change it every minute. It went from "disarm or else" to "get the fuck out of the country" to "liberation of the peoples", back to "failure to disarm" then "failure to leave" then it's all about disarming again, then "liberating" and it's like JEEBUS HELL ASSHOLES GET YOUR SHIT STRAIGHT. If you're GONNA fuckin lie to me, DO IT RIGHT. I honestly think that saddam could have put a welcome mat in front of his ASS and said "Do what you will" and we'd STILL have started bombing their shit up. Because SOMEONE has a score to settle, SOMEONE has a point to prove, and SOMEONE has an agenda that all the voices in the world won't stop.
Our road to this current "war" has it's roots back before clinton, and perhaps even before Bush Sr. It's the conclusion of a chain reaction of shit disturbers and assholes who just can't NOT fuck with everyone else...on ALL sides of the fence.
As for 9/11....if they'd managed to bring Bin Laden's head in on a stick, I doubt we'd be in Iraq right now. To me it reeks of a smokescreen to cover the fact that we failed bringing in the culprit/s of that horrible day. It is suspected that Iraq was involved (financially/politically supportive) with Al Quida terrorists that perpetraded the attack. It's at least known that they thought highly of it after we all saw that lovely mural of a plane hitting twin office towers in an Iraqi official headquarters office. The thing that makes me think they may have been more involved is that the plane hitting the building was decorated with an Iraqi flag. It ain't proof, but it does not help their situation. Even if they are only sympathisers.
It sucks, and yes it's only gonna get worse. Boo. Boo hiss.

at Xanga.com I have a diary kinna site thing...
I posted this news piecee as one of my rants... another user respondeed with "Um... this war could not have been avoided? "
The following is my response.
"you commented on my site that this war could not have been averted... then you make a comment about the peace protestors... I would like to take a moment to point out some things... a great many of the individuals who are over there fighting are doing so, not because they wanted to fight for this country but because of the GI bill... allowing them to get a full rided to the college of thier choice... they had no way to know we'd be going back over there...
And I do have a question... how do you deal with me? I am a peace protestor... but I am also a veteran... not vietnam era or earlier... but I was over there in 1991 as an air force pilot. I was discharged with a purple heart for injuries sustained in the line of duty...
you may hold contempt for the peace protestors, but I, and many like me fought for their right to do so... and for the right for you to disagree... sooo... show a little tolerance (fuck compassion, it is over rated) and let people have their own opinions...
btw... *grins* next time you post a response to one of my articles, I'd love to see some evidence to support your opinion...
Just my 25 cecnts worth... Feral"

well, maybe it is the time when someone has to kick us. in its ass. but i think the war was the only one solution. but it had to be better prepared. what aboout shadow goverment for "free" iraq, where is? if someone want to declare a war , he/she have to have some good plan what to do, if he/she wins. have us tis plan? porbably not. and other problem , the u.s have to prey to God for the rest of the world found this war legal. cause there is a question is this war legal? so prey to God for other counties say :yes , this war was legal, cause if not, u.s. will be in big trouble
