I know that everyone here reads, that is a given. I got to wondering how many of us read humour, especially british humour.
My favorite is Wodehouse, and not just the Bertie and Jeeves stuff, but the stories from Anglers Rest as told by Mr. Mulliner and The girl in blue.
I picked up a new collection of P.G. Wodehouse stories in Paris called "The World of Mr. Mulliner". Its 600+ pages of ridiculous stories that all have happy endings and are rife with love and romance.
P.G. Wodehouse wrote over 90 books and all of them are good, many are being re-released. If you want a nice taste of the world of good luck, English gentry, and the bizarre try picking up a collection of Wodehouse tales.
You may not laugh out loud, but your heart will lift.

I love written humor. When I was really young, my mother had a stack of Erma Bombeck books, and I was able to understand most of the jokes. Now that I'm older, I find them even funnier.
My favorite humorist has to be Dave Barry. I love his sense of the absurd. I realize that compared to most British humorists, he's the Three Stooges to their witty comedies of errors, but sometimes you just don't want to think. I also love the way he's able to illuminate the real idiocy of our era, from "personally computerized" form letters to scary foods to stupid laws.
I also like Michael Moore, of TV Nation and The Awful Truth. I realize he's seriously American, doing serious social commentary, but anyone reading the transcript of his assistant Tia's conversation with Right to Life had better be on the floor to begin with, because you WILL fall out of your chair.

I LOVE PG WODEHOUSE!!!!!!
Have you ever read any of the Peter Wimsey books by Dorothy Sayers?
They're detective novels about this English gentleman in the 30's or so who does detecting as a side interest. He has a Wooster-like exterior, so no one really realizes his penetrating mind. Extremely well written and fascinating and funny! He ends up falling in love with a girl charged with murder, and then has to prove her innocence so they don't hang her...
There are several books, all of them excellent. Like Wooster and Jeeves but with an intellectual twist. Some short stories too.
I know I have read other Wodehouse, but I can't remember just what right now. Just that it was very good!
