Lemmings on Parade: Picture the city |

Picture downtown Columbia, Missouri… The town has a population of two hundred thousand, if you count the college students. Home of the Mizzou tigers. On one side of the main street, Broadway, is a Subway and a bar named East Side Tavern. Directly across the street is a different sandwich shop and East Side Live (another bar owned by the same guy…)
Columbia is an interesting town. Two hundred thousand people, and the town is still like many of the small hick towns in the world. Everyone that hangs out downtown knows everyone else, or – at the least – knows of them.
There is a tattoo artist… For the purposes of this story, his name is Jake. Jake is renowned for being a great guy, but mentally unstable. Everyone has heard the stories of Jake kicking the shit out of some guy at a bar because he said the wrong thing. He's been in and out of prison for assault.
Now enter dumb-ass white rapper, Collins. Collins, being someone who hangs out down town, has heard of, and probably seen at least one of Jake's… Situations. Collins, on his new CD, blasts the tattoo shop that Jake works at, and specifically Jake himself. Some of the lines insinuate that Jake "sucks dick for a ten dollar rock."
Now, before I continue with my story… It has been stated, in the open forums, and in private e-mails that some of us feel that humans do not have any instincts left. What happens next… Is almost enough to make me agree with this diagnosis, as it is painfully obvious that Collins has not sense of survival instinct AT ALL.
Ant'ny, Cy, James, Jake and I are all together outside of the East Side Tavern… and this guy walks up and starts talking to Jake… He says "I know who you are… you're Jake!"
The next thing I hear is this white trash rap star wannabe asking Jake if he "has a fucking problem with me?" And next thing I know… he is laying on the ground, holding his head defensively with Jake kicking the ever living shit out of him…
The point of this story is not to discuss Jake's actions. I want to discuss Collin… What kind of person does it take to something of this sort? I mean, I understand that humans are not the brightest critters, but even sheep are dumb enough to run away from something dangerous. Jake's beatings are famous down town – AND – this guy recognized him on the street. Something has got to be wrong with this boy? I concede a point made at an earlier time.
SOME PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE INSTINCTS… And I would like to make a motion to the assembly that these… are… Prey…

This guy IS a total candidate for the darwin awards.
What makes a guy do something like this?
Well, he's one of a few things:
retarded
attempting to bolster a fallen ego
living in a dream world as a g-funk superman
retarded
I'm going for answer a or c.

Well that IS the only hope we have left of evolution now we have removed most of the natural forms of 'weak die strong survive' with medical heroics and societys desire to protect those to fucking stupid to live from themselves... If the unfit are not removed then evolution stops. Bloody but TRUE. Add that to the lemming effect from over population..... Yes Prey is a good word and a useful concept on several levels.....

When did this happen Feral? I don't remember hearing anything about that in this entire past year.
However, i do believe humans have instincts, instincts of violence. Perhaps like the dodo bird, we feel that we have no natural predators, which could be considered incorrect as we see that we ourselves are our own prey and predators.
