Articles: Today I burried a child. |

Today I buried a child. I just wanted to inform you that my bloved rat stella was killed by my dog. I never thought that a death of something so small could wreck me so bad.
She was a skittish but loving member of the family and is survived by her sister Poppy, and two neices nico and lucy.
She wasn't just a rodent, a rat, an animal, and she'll be missed forever.

thank you....jeezus, I had no idea I would fall apart like that....but now my dog is acting funny, like she hit her head or is sick or something (serves her right) and I have to take her to the vet. I hope she'll be okay, I'm just so shocked that my fiance is giving her a second chance..>I didn't even ask, I just heard him tell her "this is your last chance, holly."
I wish I could make it all better too, but thank you. I'm still very very sad.
Stella is a pretty name, she was a pretty rat, just like her sister and the babies.

My sympathies go out to you. Used to raise rats for sale and selective breeding (nothing Mengele, just coat colours, patterns, hair types, etc) and despite having hundreds at a time it never got any easier losing one. Occasionally i had to euthanise a rat for a fibric breast tumour (only one, i was able to successfully operate on six of them who had benign breast tumours) or or a mouse for whirling disorder, or find a rat who had succombed while birthing her young, and each one received a proper burial with a hand-etched stone. Your compassion and strength of spirit are truly an inspiration for us all, and again i offer my deepest condolences.

my cat brought in a baby mouse about a week ago...it hadn't opened its eyes yet and we fed it for a couple days.....it must have gotten too cold cause it died. I hadn't even had it for two days and i still cryed. I hope my rat Kismet lives for a long time cause ill just flip when she goes.
