I lived through the silence and being ashamed of my abortion... and while I don't necessarily shout about it on rooftops now, I am finally able to talk about it freely when it comes up in conversation. Looking back, I wish I had the courage to talk about it openly sooner. I hope your friend is able to live her life free of guilt after her procedure.
I considered getting one of those shirts a while back, but I never got around to it. I don't think I was afraid, but it would certainly have been more bold than I've been on the topic thusfar in my life. Knowing that this [article] is the kind of reaction it could invoke makes me want to step up and do it after all.
