I'm sure...wherever you go there will be people who hate because they have not. It's sad, really it is.
The russians have had economic troubles for CENTURIES...the bullshaviks didn't fix it, the communists didn't fix it, and capitolism didn't fix it. I don't think russia CAN be fixed..that explains the massive amount of russian and ukrain immigrants that live in my part of town.
There are anti americans in AMERICA! There are anti-everythings in america, and we all think we're so screwed and angry and crazy that hatred only happens here. People love a scapegoat, and it's easy to blame those who have what they do not. Blame it on this, blame it on that, blame it on capitolism, the government, the busdrivers....it's never ending.
America was a colony of adventurers and criminals, immigrants, scoundrels and gentlemen. We fought for our freedom in the revolutionary war, and again in the civil war, and yet again in the first and second world wars. We've rushed help and support all over the globe for natural disasters, tragedies, injustices....we've dished out food to refugees, taken care of impoverished or war orphaned children and administered life saving medicine...we've rebuilt cities we've been forced to obliterate to double their glory before. Our liberal immigration policies, the revolutionary war, the civil war....
Name one time another foreign country has rushed to our aide? In the Sanfransisco earthquake, the world trade center bombing, the droughts in the midwest, the floods in the misissippi delta, during desert storm when the safety of the entire middle east was at stake?
Never, in my memory, and it's pretty good. I could be wrong, but if we had been the recieving end of a helping had, it's been so few and far between that it escapes memory...and each time america has pulled itself up by it's bootstraps with it's head held high, and flag, no matter how tattered, aloft...by ourselves. We are a country, a good country full of good people that know when to drop the bullshit and come together as the mixingpot eclectic nation that we are.
Now is not a time to be kicking ourselves and indulging in masochistic fingerpointing.
We need to remember those lost, punnish those responsible and quit making excuses and quit trying to make ourselves into the culprit. We need to put out the big dog image once again. We need to be proud, we need to be strong, and we need to show them who their daddy IS...and make them cut their own switch.
I'm not fighting, I'm not being mean...I'm being blunt, I'm trying to be strong, I'm being an american.
Once again my condolences to your loss...I know it must be hard, and you more than anyone else here perhaps can identify with a tragedy of this magnitude. Think it over before you beat yourself up.
