Things are changing?
When meeting with the Dutch ambassador to the Vatican, he referenced the country's laws governing same-sex unions. Condemning the laws, the pope said that sexual relationships are for "men and women whose love will yield children," and characterized gays as deviants who act contrary to "natural law."
I saw him last year on TV, talking about those molestation scandals. His main message was that Catholics shouldn't lose faith in the clergy. Hilarious! Now, I would've gone straight to some kind of apology to the victims, but I guess that's why he's the pope."
but for everyone, from theologians who will never be ordained because they're women, on down to the little children in the crowded ghettos of Third World cities who heed his message about the evils of contraception.
Look I'm all for practicing what you like, and have not a problem in the world about christianity, but the pope has changed about as much as my DNA structure in the last two minutes.
Christianity is like a new planet, alright. Its a young religion, as Callei pointed out, and its very torn apart. New factions, disagreements, confusion; for god sakes, you have multiple translations of the one word of god! While in past comments I have spoken of the hidden messages of the bible and the ability to teach us lessons about all of humanity, using it as a basis rather than a suggestion for your way of life is quite a stretch and a bit rash. It is a book of morals, hyms and proverbs, do with it what you like, but it is far from the soveriegn word of god. We've proven, have we not, that it has been altered throughout time? That certain mistranlations have caused locations and events to change?
I see almost no effort in the christian or catholic faithes to treat other religions with respect. How can you go around saying, "HA Ha HA look how right this is! Told ya!" Christianity is a baby on the doorstep of time! Your saying everyone before christianity, and everyone who doesn't believe it is wrong! Trillions of lives, condemned to hell! That HE has been around since man began, but somehow those heathen greeks and egyptians, myans, aztecs, incas, samarians, indians, chinese, japanese, all of these cultures just weren't good enough for him to appear to.That they ignored him? That god got his start doing indie gigs in little middle eastern towns a few millenia ago, and now he's hit it big with his new album!
I'm sorry, but believe what you want to believe, but this holyer-than-thou atitude, of saying god instead of my god, of preaching to how I've gone wrong, how god can save me, how other faithes are blasphemous, wrong, and stupid, this atitude is horse shit. It's just as bad as little teenage punk going up to an old man and saying "Stupid old man, I know more, cuz I've got tv and the internet, I'm modern, your old and stupid."
end.
