What motivates a person to enter into a BDSM subculture in the first place though? A fetish? A 'Sexual identity'? A psychological deficiency seems the most natural reason for this- as there is no such thing as an addiction to pain, just limited threshholds people can function normally under. Thus it is a psychological compulsion, by default, that drives people into a roleplay enviroment-- what differentiates BDSm from cosplay or furries? The style? You're still in costume, or pretending to be something you're not and would take offense to be if accused of it in any real sense of the phrasiology employed by the deviants within.
Anyway. The fact remains: I don't give a real shit about what people do to get off. All I care about is schlumping vast categories of people into the psychological profiles they can be pushed into. Is there anything besides a psychological compulsion for denial of personhood or humiliation on a sociological level that makes people flock to bondage, or is it just their way of standing out against what they perceive as a magazine of gray-plastered sexuality?
