You are referring to Rene Magritte's 1926 surrealist painting "Leci n'est pas une pipe". It hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago and constitutes one of the few reasons anyone wanders into the surrealism section there. The deconstructionist Michel Foucault (pronounced "Fucko") wrote a monograph about it in 1979. While I have never been impressed with the piece qua art, it is a grand joke to those people who get it. This has been a public service announcement.
