I have no problem with people "testing the water" OR saying bollocks to whatever is being fed to them, but if you're gonna TRY something, PLEASE don't become one of those "instant philosophers/experts" on something that you're using to piss off your parents, get laid, or sound cool. Hell the only reason I have even been TALKING about satanism lately is because it seems to be the topic of the week and some *cough* are just getting it plain wrong and I'm not one to sit by and allow misinformation, innocent or not, slide by.
The easiest way to describe it for me is that I didn't become a satanist, I always was one I just didn't have a fancy little "hi, my name is ____" tag for it. I knew a tad about it in highschool, and years ago my husband picked me up "satan speaks" and "the devil's notebook" at borders, and I sat reading it thinking "huh, this cat thinks like me, how rad is that?" Granted it's nice to know that there are ordained groups for meetings and fun and whatnot, but honestly I'm far to lazy and introverted to sit with people that I barely know and have only the bond of an ideal holding me to them, let alone show up for scheduled meetings. It's a pain in the ass for me to show up to WORK at scheduled times, I don't need one more structured "to do" in my day. Does that make me any more or less a devote satanist than the next fellow? No. I'm just as comfortable and happy with how I live my life as a card carrying member of the COS. I'm just a tad lazier. ANd that's the difference between people who can just be content with their life path and those that FIND one that sounds neat, who expect it to fill their time instead of just be another aspect of themselves. I don't care if anyone else joins the club (more dip for me, either way), they can do what they want. Those that preach the loudest are usually convincing THEMSELVES more than they are trying to convince other people.
