Actually, Callei, I could not agree more... and the principle can be applied just as equally to any group or individual that "opposes" something. The louder one screams against racism, for example, the more fixated on race that person is... I have a deep and abiding distrust for anyone who knows just how everyone else ought to be feeling about things.
In psychological circles, the phenomenon is called "enantiodromia". In a nutshell, this means that the more polarised a phenomenon becomes, the more it resembles its diametric opposite. Or, to put it more plainly, the more you set yourself up as being opposed to something the closer to that thing you actually are in reality. I always have a good chuckle at the perverted Puritans of the world.
