Why limit? You have a brain! Use it! Revel in it! Glorify it! Inflict it on dumb people! Isn't that what brains are for?
Unfortunately, thise whole thing, of one story and one comment, leaves me awed and dumbfounded. I need to go soak my tush awhile. (yes. avid Bloom County person here.) so until I have something snappy and long and intelligent to say, I'll be in the tub.

I do believe you are right. Though we have evolved we have also grown sentimental and we have covered up allot of our instincts with civilization. Several hundred years ago we would destroy those who were weak or defected, however we saw the evil of our ways and corrected, or perhaps messed up one of our problems. Yes the weak are usually the kind hearted, but is kind heartedness truely a weakness?. I try and think of it as a strength, although if you were forced into a place where survival was necessary and you had to kill someone or something and could not do it. Then perhaps it is a weakness. However, the hatred, or the inability to feel sadness for that loss is also a weakness.
Now, getting back to my point. We have been able to cure so many defects in our "overbred race" however, why stop at one generation. I would like to know if it were possible to correct those genetic errors before they were made.
Perhaps if someone would like to have children then they would take their genetic code, splice it and make it, more or less without flaw, then some how create a child with that genetic code. Then we would eventually breed out all of the deficencies. {although it might not work with those little 'accidents' unless you were able to do it when they were children... somehow...}
However, watching so many horror movies, you begin to think, and wonder. Would there be side effects? Would we loose something vital to our humanity that we would never be able to recover?
You never know until you try out theories and possibilities. However, even if you did think of every possible scenerio and thing that could go wrong. For the most part, it is sometimes that occasional rare oddity that something happens that no one could possibly predict. And then, you have the end of a race..
Pardon me if this sounds a wee bit science-fiction, however, there is never an impossible, only ever an improbbable.
