"We should be there soon. Xeno, I know this all has to be very weird for you. If you need to take care of anything I would suggest you find ways to do so by telephone. I have all the phones at the plantation re-routed through a church a few miles away so we can make calls without being traced back. If you need to pick anything up or pay anyone money you owe them or anything like that let me or Hades know, we'll take care of the cash and get you a driver so you can go get everything you need." He paused. "That is, assuming you have decided to come with us. You have shown yourself to be willing to learn, and mature enough to be trusted with a delicate slave. Rose seems to have taken quite a liking to you and I'm told you two are bound for a year. Let me be the first to congratulate you. I wish you both the best."

When Devon stopped to sip his drink I spoke. "Yes, Devon, I'm definitely coming with you. Does this mean my trial is over? I thought I had six days to go still." Devon smiled over his drink.

"No Xeno, you are not relieved of your trial, there are more reasons for the ten day period than just making certain you will fit in. Part of the purpose is to educate you. You yourself have said that you are new to the realities of this lifestyle and I would not drop you into this tank of sharks without your own set of teeth; not unless I absolutely had to." He looked from Rose to MD and Krista. "I, of course, mean sharks in the best way." This got a giggle from Krista and MD. Rose looked circumspect, like she was paying a lot more attention than she was letting on.

"Sharks?" I was curious. "I thought all the people who were left were, I don't know, approved or something."

"Yes, they are. But I'm sure you've noticed by now that we lead lives that are a bit more intense than your average human. People in this club tend to know what they want and how to get it. If someone new were to just walk in, they would quite possibly get walked all over. You need to be able to trust your instincts and trust yourself. That is a major portion of the trial, well, that and helping you get over the social training you have been raised with. You have noticed we don't do things the way most people do, we are freer with sex and relationships, but in some ways we are more restrictive. You yourself have sworn yourself to twenty-four hour relationships, and as of this morning, a one-year relationship. You will be expected to maintain that relationship; even if you simultaneously carry a second one."

"A second relationship? I can do that?" I hadn't been sure.

"Absolutely. In non-puritan cultures, it is not uncommon for there to be polyamorous bindings. I believe your beautiful Rose has had designs on Savage Dreamer for quite some time, and from your reactions over the past few days, I would hazard to guess so do you.
