There is a term in politics - pork barrel. A pork Barrel program is something that is pretty much useless… a waste of the tax payer's money… on the other hand, a pork barrel program can show how well a specific representative is doing his job, by the number of pork bellies he manages to secure for his constituents…
Yesterday was the release of the "Pig Book". This is a listing of pork barrel projects from a group opposed to the expenditures and as a result are trying to make the average voter aware of what is going on. I have the last decade's worth of this publication on my shelf… as a reminder and sometimes as a good laugh.

This year - before I can even buy my copy - the Pig Book has made a big splash… I glanced at the front page of the St Louis Post-Dispatch this morning… and this is what I saw.

"Group criticizes federal funds to counsel youths against Goth culture"

"Congress earmarked the cash for the Blue Springs Youth Outreach Unit, a municipal group that will train educators and police about fighting Goth culture -- a subculture known for its dark clothing, make-up and musicians such as Marilyn Manson. Citizens Against Government Waste, a non-partisan watchdog group, said the Goth program was among 602 projects that totaled $20.1 billion in wasteful spending last fall."

$273,000 Spent in Blue Springs Missouri... to "combat the Goth subculture..." Upon reading further… this $273,000 will be spent on psychological counseling and testing… THERAPY… Training the police to recognize the threat…

They talk about us like we are a disease…and "if it isn't eliminated now, it could become a bigger problem down the road."

I did little more research and the outrage began to flow.

look at the phenomenal wastes of time and resources!!!
$68,085,000 for projects in Byrd's home state for
the Veterans' Affairs appropriations. Of that,
$16,775,000 goes to the Institute for Software
Research, including $14,350,000 for developing
and constructing research facilities.

16 million for software development??? If square soft spent this much, the FF series would be holographic sims…

Another $17,360,000 for Byrd's state from the
Education Department's appropriations. That
includes $2,000,000 for West Virginia University
to create a center on obesity, $1,000,000 for
technology at the University of Charleston, and
$200,000 for a computer science program at
Glenville State College.

Shit… I'm obese by the technical definition… I WANT SOME!

9,440,000 for projects in the state of
appropriations subcommittee member Harry Reid
(D-Nevada). That includes $669,000 to buy every
student at Schurz Elementary School and
Hawthorne Elementary and Junior High School a
laptop computer.

Giving students access to computers is a good thing, but this… is a little much!!!

$273,000 spent in the state of Senate
appropriator Christopher "Kit" Bond (R-Missouri)
at the Blue Springs Youth Outreach Unit for
educational training in "combating Goth culture."

This is the real kick in the groin… I voted for this DICK….

8,000,000 to provide computer equipment and
Internet access to schools in Armenia ($5
million) and to promote tech startups in the
Republic of Georgia ($3 million).

This one… was listed in the Pig Book… but… I think this one is worth it… I ma be alone… but it seems a worth cause…

I believe contact with your local senator is in order… While Kit Bond is responsible for the act… the rest of our reps supported it… let's get this guy where it hurts… in the wallet… before he fucks us ALL…

Feralucce
If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!!!
