One night I layed down in my bed, closed my eyes and drifted to sleep. That night I dreamed a dream I shall never forget. I found myself in a rather expensive hotel, chandeliers hung from the ceilings, plush carpet cushioned my step, old art hung on the walls.
I was wearing a black suit with a white button up shirt that was casually worn with the top buttons undone. I was walking slowly through the hotel trying to find my way back to the party I was attending in one of the lower gallery halls. On my way I traveled through an empty dining room that was darkened with the only light coming from teh two stairwells on either side of the hall. I walked slowly across the room weaving through tables when a girl came running down the stairs ahead of me and came at me, grabbing me and pulling me back the way I had come asking me for my help for she was being chased by men wanting to kill her. I said I would help her and we started running just as the men she spoke of came down the stairs she came from and fired a handgun in our direction. I don't know why, but I felt as though I knew this girl and I was deeply in love with her. She was beautiful with dark wavy hair to her shoulders, fitted t-shirt and blue jeans. The hotel we were running through had many different stairwells that seemed to go up forever, yet few had railings and every now and then would have landings where they would branch off into two new stairways. I decided that to improve our chances at one of the stairways we would separate. As we were running up I leapt from one stairway to another and it worked. Two of the four men followed me and the other two followed her. when I got to the next landing I stopped and turned to face the men following me and grabbed one of them men's guns and shot the other man, then threw the man I was holding over the edge. But then I heard the girl scream. I ran down the stairs to where we had separated, then back up the stairway that she took. I made it up just in time to see her fall to the ground, dead. One of two men was the ringleader in trying to kill this girl and the other appeared to be an indian shaman. I grabbed the man that was in charge by the throat and lifted him from the ground, the pain of loss and anger making my blood roil in my veins and cloud my mind. I pushed him back and over the one place their was a railing so that his feet were in the air and I was looking in his face his life literally in my hands. He looked at me with a smirk on his face and said, "You don't have the guts." My eyes narrowed and I simply responded, "This time.. I do." When I had said this I pushed and released his neck making him fall headfirst down 30 feet and his head cracked on the marble stairs, breaking his neck and splitting his skull. I walked back over to the girl, and lifted her in my arms, holding her lifeless body aand began to cry. Then her body vanished. I looked up angrily at the Shaman demanding to know where she went. He told me that she wasn't really dead, but there was a spell cast upon her that she would sleep until I had performed a task that was to be the most difficult I had ever undertaken. Then the Shaman, too, vanished in a puff of smoke and I was left standing alone on the landing. That's when I woke up. I felt the sorrow of loss so strongly even awake that I nearly began to cry. I would have if I had allowed myself the luxury. Anyway, if anyone has had a dream similar to this one or has any comments on it I would certainly love to hear them. Thank you for your time in listening to my ranting, Peace.
