A Clockwork Orange
Category : Classics
Author : Anthony Burgess
ISBN (No Dashes) : 0393312836
|
|
Description : This has always been one of my favorite books. The language that's used helps make Alex's world seem dark and futuristic in a timeless way. And there is nobody more of a punk than Alex. The punks in our world can only dream. If there was one book I would recommend that everybody reads, it would be this one. --Devin

Nocturnal Witchcraft: Magick After Dark
Category : Classics
Author : Konstantinos
ISBN (No Dashes) : 0738701661
|
|
Description : This book offers holds an excellent collection of spells, rites and rituals, along with offering the authors own experiences from each section. Those of you who feel a little alienated by the ‘fluffy bunny’ type of Wicca will truly enjoy reading this introductory guide to Nocturnal magick. The second book 'Gothic Grimoire' offers a deeper explanation into this facinating topic. This is one of the best books published by Konstantinos.

The Art of Warfare
Category : Classics
Author : Sun-Tzu
ISBN (No Dashes) : 034536239X
|
|
Description : This is an ingenious account on battle tactics and warfare psychology. Personally, I am a pacifist, but I do find the philosophy applicable to everyday life, when dealing with some sort of competition. I am not one to further fuel the capitalistic, alpha-male, competitive society we have, however it has interesting ideas nonetheless. A stale, yet stimulating read. Good for claustrophobics in small, well-lit spaces.

The Two Towers (The Lord of the Rings, Part 2)
Category : Classics
Author : J.R.R. Tolkien, J.R.R. Tolkein
ISBN (No Dashes) : 0618002235
|
|
Description : If you think that other books by Tolkien are good, then this one will blow your mind. Nonstop action, sorrows, and laughs. After seeing the movie I went and got the book, trust me, their differences are astronomical.
The fellowship has scattered. Some were bracing hopelessly for war against the ancient evil of Sauron. Some were contending with the treachery of the wizard Saruman. Only Frodo and Sam were left to take the accursed Ring of Power to be destroyed in Mordor---the dark Kingdom where Sauron was supreme. Their guide was Gollum, deceitful and lust-filled, slave to the corruption of the Ring.

Brave New World
Category : Classics
Author : Aldous Huxley
ISBN (No Dashes) : 0060929871
|
|
Description : "Community, Identity, Stability" is the motto of Aldous Huxley's utopian World State. Here everyone consumes daily grams of soma, to fight depression, babies are born in laboratories, and the most popular form of entertainment is a "Feelie," a movie that stimulates the senses of sight, hearing, and touch. Though there is no violence and everyone is provided for, Bernard Marx feels something is missing and senses his relationship with a young women has the potential to be much more than the confines of their existence allow. Huxley foreshadowed many of the practices and gadgets we take for granted today--let's hope the sterility and absence of individuality he predicted aren't yet to come.
