Has anyone read any of the the Spiderwick Chronicles or the Series of
Unfortunate Events? Being the geek that I am, I found them quite
interesting. SoUE really tries to build a young readers vocabulary. I
wish these books were around when I was in 5th grade. If you haven't heard
of these books I'll kind of tell you the plots.
Spiderwick Chronicles is a 5 book series about three kids who move into
their crazy aunt's house. They find a secret room in the house and inside
it they find a book written by their Great Uncle about fairies, trolls,
elves, etc. and how they are real. Throughout the series they have
adventures that revolve around the book.
Series of Unfortunate Events is an eleven book series (I think). There's a
bunch of them anyway. It's also about three kids who's rich parents die in
a horrible accident and since it happens, all these unfortunate events
follow them where ever they go.
So yeah, if you have read them, tell me what you think. |

I haven't read either of those series, but I am thinking that thanks to the
movie that will be coming out shortly, A Series of Unfortunate Events
might be popping up in more stores. Hopefully. ____________________ Okay, dazzle me. |

Actually Merry the book(s) are out. Happened upon them at Toys 'R' Us while
looking for a gift for my little cousin. Also SoUE is being made into a
movie. Whatever your thoughts are on books like Harry Potter or SoUE and
the likes at least they have gotten kids to read again. ____________________ co-worker: "Your gay!?"

movie, that more stores will start carrying them. ____________________ Okay, dazzle me. |

Yeah, I heard they were making a movie. I just haven't heard much about
it. I don't watch TV anymore, so I'm kind of out of the loop unless I look
for it online. They have now come out with the Spiderwick Chronicles in a
5 pack, so you get all five books instead of buying individually. |

Oooohhh the series of unfortunate events. It's so unfortunate. I just love
it. I can't wait for the next book which I've been wanting for a while,
even though I've heard that it is all rather sad, and upsetting, and no
well balanced person in their right mind would want to read it. So, sign me
up.
And of course, how many of us here are Harry Potter fans? ____________________ It's like kegel exercises for your throat.~Monolycus |

I was wondering, have they found out who the author of Series of
Unfortunate Events actually is. I heard he uses an alias or something like
that and has the money given to a charity. ____________________ fucking classy. |

So they really are making a movie from SoUE? Sweet... Does anyone know
when it's due to come out, and who's playing who? ____________________ Today's liberals are tomorrow's conservatives. When my generation is the

Jim Carrey as Olaf? Anyone here who read the books, does Jim Carrey
automatically spring to mind when you picture Olaf? Or does that seem a
little ludicrous? ____________________ Today's liberals are tomorrow's conservatives. When my generation is the

He definately looks the part. I only have the first 2 books. I got them
for Xmas last year. I hope I get more this year. I really do like the
books. They came out with a new series, kind of similar to the SoUE and
SC. I don't remember what it's called but there are two pirates on the
first book. They should make an SC movie too. Lots of faires and such.
