| I can see the benefits of monogamy, but I can also see the benefits of
having a more open relationship, I think that we as a culture believe that
we HAVE to have a monogamous relationship or it is not right, or sinfull or
whatever you want to call it. I would just like to keep my mind open to
all possibilies. I have always thought of just settling down with one
person, because growing up, that is what you are taught (at least I was)
But I can´t believe that EVERYONE on teh planet is happy being that way,
just like EVERYONE can´t be happy in one religion, and so on. ____________________

I just thought of a definite argument against girls being monogamous, based
on a real-life situation. (The older sister of the psycho-slut.)
If you have many sexual partners and get pregnant, you can pick which guy
seems most likely to be able to pick up the tab financially, and is dumb
enough to go along with it without insisting on a paternity test!
True story! Really! Of course, this is also the girl who smokes a pack a
day and drinks whenever she wants and does multiple drugs (and cries if her
sister has drugs and doesn´t share). So maybe it isn´t so smart an idea
after all... ____________________

ooooo yay bettie - she brought up a good point. and i must say that i have
seen many an ´arrangement´ sour on the involved parties (as i have had my
own rather messy arrangements). and so i seek openness sans signularly
detrimental clauses. i think the ideal for me has become a relationship
without title. the labels only serve to complicate things; to burden with
external/societal expectation. but is not the goal to find a person who
will be with you always out of want, and not out of duty or need?
´cheating´ requires rules. rules create obligation. i no longer have the
stomach for such drama-laden invitations for disaster.
sex. i love sex. but sex, at its base, has nothing to do with
relationships or emotional investement. and while this is fact, i do find
myself slipping into the want for a higher sexual connection. i am a
hopeless romantic of a girl, so while i have never experienced this
first-hand, i believe it exists. obviously, i dream to find such a thing,
but until i do, i refuse to muttle things up by allowing two drastically
different drives to cross over. i do not personally have much desire to
fuck anyone else while in a relationship, open or not. *sigh* i suppose i
am the wrong person to be posting about this, as my lines are a bit blurry.
the long and short of it : hooray for arrangements as long as all parties
are on the same page. monogamy is not a natural physical state for most
animals, but well-ingrained in human social-mores and therefore cannot be
entirely discounted. there is no widely applicable rule for relationships
and sex; each relationship requires its own consideration/deliberation.
lastly, EVERYONE should be entitled to a great deal of good sex. i am
convinced it should be an inalienable human right. *grin* ____________________

| Alright, I have a question. What if the girl wants an open relationship,
(i.e. mineself) and the guy is against it for a reason he won´t tell? I
think I´d enjoy it and it seems to make more sense most of the time than
monogamous relationships... but even though when he lived in another state
he was fine with orgies and whatnot, he´s not alright with me even being
friendly with guys.. ____________________

| Well, most people - even if they cannot admit it - have double standards.
They want to have fun and do whatever, but cannot seem to handle their
partner having fun without them. I know people who get pissed if their
partner gets jealous of them, but get jealous themselves very easily.
We´re human. I sometimes am that way, as is my grrl - neither of us mean
to be, but it´s hard not to ever be jealous of another´s situation. What
seems to help us is talking about it instead of letting those negative
emotions fester and turn into shmeng. ____________________

to begin with...hooray dolorosa for the falling in love bit. meaningful
exchnge is always good.
though i don´t imagnine love for me will be the fantastic, explosive,
consumption that we seem to be fantasizing
about. i imagine it will be a quiet, precise, and slightly tragic affair.
hopeless romantic that i am, there will be one
great love, and it will teach me all current unknowns of the greatest
tranquil beauty, and the most elegant and seizing pain.
its miraculous that any two people connect at all. people and their complex
octagons of existing. interesting people-relation
= double-octagonship. but then where do we continue living? in what
